Jing Halan felt rather disgraced, after all, Wei Lin was one of her own, and over the years, they had beco close like best friends.

But what is all this about?

Has a perfectly good girl beco a dolt over a man?

As an outsider, besides offering a word of advice, there wasn’t much else she could do.

Previously, Jing Halan did harbor the thought of perhaps playing matchmaker between the two.

After all, Wei Lin was attractive, a local, from a good family, well-educated with a bachelor’s degree, and she had been proactive and serious about her work over the years. Moreover, her heart was completely set on Jiang Ye.

And Jiang Ye, he was indeed so young yet he had beco the captain of the fire brigade, his ability and strength top-notch. Not to ntion, he was the jewel of Nanxi City’s fire departnt, extraordinarily handso.

Over the years, it wasn’t just Wei Lin who had fallen for Captain Jiang. Jing Halan knew there was also the daughter from the division headquarters family, and a young female officer from the municipal bureau.

And others, well, there were just too many to count.

Every year at the brigade’s social events, Jiang Ye never participated, but the flowers he received were always the most.

Lu Jing was rather embarrassed:

"Cough, sister-in-law, it’s nothing to worry about."

He really didn’t mind at all!

If he minded every single incident like this, how could he have borne it all these years?

Moreover, most people probably didn’t know Jiang Ye’s real family background — in Jing City, the list of elite ladies eager to marry the Young Master of Jiang Family could stretch from the east of the city to the west.

Right, and then there were those female classmates from junior high and high school. Lu Jing still rembers how, back in the day, many older schoolgirls, upon learning that he knew Jiang Ye, would bring various gifts for him — food, drinks, things to use, things to play with, and even branded bags etc., all with one main objective:

To beg him to deliver their love letters!

During that period, Lu Jing’s backpack was stuffed full every day.

However, it didn’t last long.

It was obvious that Jiang Ye must have done sothing.

"If you say so, then your sister-in-law can rest assured."

After all, her man and Captain Jiang had such a good relationship, they were as close as brothers.

Jing Halan certainly wouldn’t act against her own interests.

Better to clarify such matters beforehand, to avoid any troubleso complications later.

The n’s work was already perilously dangerous; they couldn’t afford to be distracted by these trivial issues.

Lu Jing’s lips twitched, wanting to say sothing but then holding back.

Finally, he spoke up:

"Sister-in-law, let help you clean up."

"No, no, no, how can I let you do that?"

Lu Jing had already started to act, and Jing Halan couldn’t really wrestle the tasks away from him, could she?

At last, after nearly twenty minutes, the two had managed to wash all the dishes, bowls, and plates on the large table and had swept through the kitchen and living room.

Lu Jing was even ready to mop the floor, but Jing Halan snatched the mop away:

"I’ll do it, you just sit and take a break."

Lu Jing glanced at the ti, seeing it was already past eight-thirty:

"Forget the rest, it’s getting late. Sister-in-law, I’ll head back now."

Jing Halan nodded:

"Okay."

Then she put down the mop to see him out the door.

...

After going downstairs, Lu Jing paused for a mont.

He was conflicted: should he listen to that person and wait for him to return, or go straight back to his dorm?

The key in his hand seed to still hold the searing warmth from that person’s touch.

After about three seconds of indecision, he made up his mind.

...

At ten o’clock at night.

Lu Jing was in that person’s study, with the computer on, watching so surgical videos from abroad.

He was watching so intently that he didn’t hear the sound of the door opening.

Not until that person’s figure appeared before him, did he suddenly realize:

"You’re back?" he exclaid in surprise.
