Chapter 365: Demand Answers

"I am sorry," I said, trying to regain my composure. I didn’t know how I was going to defend myself against sothing that my power was telling

was dead, but I would figure out sothing. "What don’t I understand?"

"Our woman was in pain," answered the fourth man. He looked like the one who had kidnapped

and a little bit like Liu Hao Yu, too. Maybe they were related? Could I use the relationship between

and Li Hao Yu to get out of here?

"I understand that your woman is in pain," I replied, trying to get back into the headspace of a doctor. I needed to be a lot more diplomatic towards these four n, but I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it.

"But your woman is pregnant," I started, patting myself on the back for doing a good job. "And I am not the one to make her that way." Nope, slipped up there, needed to go back, go back!

The biggest man growled and started to put on leather gloves, letting

know that he didn’t enjoy my little joke.

"But seriously. All of this is completely normal when it cos to pregnancy. In fact, it lets

know that everything is progressing smoothly and on ti," I said, biting my tongue until it practically bled. If they thought this was bad now, what were they going to do when she was in active labor?

I bet they were going to pass out. They looked the type.

"Still not good enough. What can you give her to take away the Braxton Hicks thing?" asked the third one. At so point in ti, people were really going to have to introduce themselves to

because this was getting ridiculous.

"Nothing," I sighed. "If she is experiencing pain, then Tylenol would work well, but her body is preparing her for eventual labor. It isn’t going to stop."

"Take so Tylenol? Is that really your suggestion?" sneered the fourth man as he stepped closer to . "Look around; where are we going to find that?"

"Well, I do have so extra at the cabin. How about you take

ho, and I can give you a bottle?" I replied sweetly, fighting the urge to smirk at the man.

"You are not leaving this place until you heal my wife," stated the third.

Ah, fuck it. They wanted to be like that, so there was no need to be nice. Besides, sothing told

that they wouldn’t kill

until after the birth.

"And until she goes into labor and gives birth, there is nothing to heal. She is perfectly fine! In fact, I am willing to bet that she is better than 99% of the won I have seen even before the end of the world. She doesn’t need to be healed," I said, the smile no longer on my face.

"She was in pain!" roared the fourth man.

"And you are the ones who made her that way!" I roared back. Would my hospital director be happy that I was yelling at a patient’s family? Of course not.

Would that have gotten

fired from my job? Probably.

But did I give a fuck right now? Absolutely not.

"I didn’t get her pregnant. You did that. Pregnancy is an absolutely beautiful and wonderful thing for most people. Others completely hate being pregnant because they are sick the entire ti. But while pregnancies vary depending on the woman, birth rarely does not. It is going to be bloody. She is going to be in so much pain she can’t think straight. Whether it is a vaginal birth or a cesarian, there is going to be pain and blood."

The first one, the one who kidnapped

in the first place, opened his mouth to say sothing, but I quickly held up my hand. "There is no alternative. This will happen. You can’t undo this, and she won’t want to be pregnant forever. So, you better be prepared. Because if you cannot take what will happen, you need to be prepared to walk out of the room. I am her doctor, not yours. If you pass out, I will leave you on the floor."

"Guys," sighed Li Dai Lu. "You asked her to co; she ca. She told you the exact sa thing that I did. I am fine. There is nothing wrong with

that not being pregnant won’t fix. Take her ho and—"

Her voice cut out as she gripped her stomach, pain passing over her face.

"See!!!" point three n all at the sa ti. "She is in pain; help her!"

I waited for the contraction to pass before I looked at her. "Better?" I asked. The stove seed to be working, and the ti was brightly displayed on it. I made a note of it before turning my attention back to her.

"Have you passed your mucus plug?"

She looked at

confused, "I have no idea what that is. Maybe?"

"You might not have noticed it, but it may have freaked you out if you did. Essentially, it is a protective barrier around your cervix that keeps out any unwanted bacteria from entering your uterus. As your cervix softens to prepare for labor, it falls out. It can be the first indication that labor is coming, but it doesn’t an that it is imminent."

I was about to explain it in great detail, but I didn’t know if the n in the room would be able to take it.

"Look, is there any way we could talk privately?" I sighed. I felt bad for her. She did save

from Camp Hell and has basically gone through this entire pregnancy without help. I’ve heard OBGYNs complain that patients freaked out when they realized that they couldn’t be seen every week.

It was a traumatic and stressful ti for the woman, and she had no one to talk to about any of it.

It wasn’t her fault that her man kidnapped , and she deserved the best care possible.

I just hoped that my n would be okay until I got back.

"There is no point," shrugged Li Dai Lu. They are going to demand answers anyway."
