Chapter 297: Asinine
I had to laugh at myself right now.
Just yesterday, I was shaking my head at the fact that Fan Teng Fei gravitated to the window in whatever room we were in. I never could figure out why, but I knew that if I needed to find him, that was where he would be.
Beside the window.
And yet, here I was, leaning against his body, looking out of the window with him.
Ti seed to be moving both much too slowly and much too fast. I wavered between wanting the zombies to just hurry up and get here and wishing that they would never co at all.
Of course, it didn’t help that my brain was shooting out random things and random tis or that the ants that loved to give
advanced warnings were wavering as much as I was.
So monts, my arms were on fire. The next, they were ice cold. But there was no happy dium where the ants just left
alone.
I swear that my brain was the worst. I went from thinking about all the different scenarios that could potentially happen to my brain, saying, ’Or you could just die and not worry about anything.’ Yeah, that one wasn’t as fun.
Letting out a long sigh, I put more of my weight onto Fan Teng Fei and let out a long sigh of contentnt. He wrapped his arms around
and pulled
as close to him as possible, not saying a word.
In fact, for the most part, Bin An Sha’s condo was silent. Wang Chang Ming had managed to go down for a nap, and ’Scary Daddy’ was keeping him company. The rest of the guys were in random places, cleaning their weapons of choice, lost in their own thoughts.
In fact, it was so quiet that it scared the crap out of
when an alarm screeched outside.
Over and over again, the high pitched sound ca until all of a sudden, it went away.
"What the fuck was that?" demanded Si Dong as he ca out of the bedroom carrying a very terrified little boy. The poor baby, to be woken up by that... it was no wonder he was clinging to Si Dong like his life depended on it.
"Ah," nodded Bin An Sha. "Right, I forgot this would be your first ti. You need to open the window."
"Excuse ?" I asked, looking at the man like he was crazy. I wasn’t going to open a window this high up with a toddler around. Hell, at this very mont, my brain was playing out all the different ways I could fall out of it, let alone Wang Chang Ming.
Bin An Sha sighed and walked over to . Pulling a level over my head, he opened the very top of the window, and only a few inches.
"There is a princess announcent. There is a princess announcent. Please prepare yourselves for the princess announcent." The voice repeated this statent over and over again.
"Technically, we are all supposed to go outside and to the main square of our rings," explained Bin An Sha as he went back to sharpening his knives. "There, soone will hold a walkie-talkie to a gaphone, and everyone across all the rings will be able to hear whatever words of wisdom Wu Bai Hee wants the commoners to hear."
"So, we should get going?" asked Ye Yao Zu, cocking his head to the side as he looked at the man.
"Nah. I learned through accident that as long as I have the window open, I can hear what she is saying just fine. After all, she makes the announcent from her balcony right beside mine."
I couldn’t find the words.
That seed like the most pretentious, dictator-ous, district 12 thing that I had ever heard.
Shaking my head, I went back to staring out the window.
Part of
wanted to believe that she was going to make a selfless announcent, but a bigger part of
thought that this was yet another opportunity to make it all about herself. However, I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
There were a lot of rumors going around about the zombies coming. Maybe she was going to warn everyone, telling them what to do and how to evacuate. Hell, maybe she was going to tell everyone to grab extra supplies and go into a bunker that no one knew about.
"Citizens of the City A Sanctuary Base," ca a female voice from nearby, and I looked over to see her standing on her balcony, her white dress fluttering in the wind as Zhao Jun Jie held a gaphone and walkie-talkie next to her mouth. "Know that you are blessed."
Well, that wasn’t exactly where I thought it would go, but sure. They were blessed to be in her presence. Sure.
"I know that you have heard the rumors that there is a zombie tide coming to City A and that it is only a matter of ti until the Sanctuary is overrun by these creatures and everyone is killed."
I thought about what she said for a mont as she let her words stop echoing around us and cringed as to what would co out of her mouth next.
"I am here to tell you that those rumors are completely false. There are no zombies out there, and there are definitely none coming here."
Blinking rapidly, I tilted my head back to look at Fan Teng Fei. He shrugged his shoulders, just as confused as I was with where this speech was going. To say that there were no zombies out there was the sa as saying that there was no water outside of the city.
Of course, there was water. Anyone with a brain knew that there was water outside of the city, just like everyone with a brain knew that there were zombies outside of it, too.
This wasn’t a bunny apocalypse. People weren’t risking their lives to go out and gather supplies, worried that the bunnies were going to cuddle them to death. This was a zombie apocalypse, and simply saying that there were none...
Well, it was just asinine.
