Chapter 262: A Premonition Of Fear

I looked over at Bai Long Qiang and where he stood beside the front windows, constantly looking out. "Who was supposed to be the welcoming committee?" I asked, the ants on my arms starting to stir.

But they weren’t upset, and they definitely weren’t lighting a fire under my skin.

"Cheng Bo Jing and Ye Yao Zu," replied Rip, pulling

into his arms and shifting

onto his lap as he sat down on the couch.

If the ants weren’t complaining, did that an that they were fine?

I thought about it for a mont and realized that Cheng Bo Jing alone could kill anyone he wanted, thanks to his toxic powers. And guns really weren’t an issue for him since he could just lt the tal.

Ye Yao Zu had the ability to read anyone’s mind and was technically an earth power user.

So, theoretically, they should be fine. Maybe they just waylaid looking for sothing...

Nope.

No matter how much I told my brain that the guys were fine, it refused to believe . If they weren’t in my eyesight, then they might as well have been dead.

Logically, I knew it was a throwback response to my ti in Camp Hell, where I had thought that they were dead, but logic was not front and center right now for .

"Then let’s go find them," I shrugged, getting ready to stand up.

Rip held

down, preventing

from storming out the door and having a mini panic attack. "We need to co up with a plan, Little Bird. Then you can fly away and rescue them," he murmured low. However, the n around us could still make out what he was saying.

"I’d like to point out that we are in a zombie-occupied city. And, while they aren’t out hunting right now, I am not inclined to put

and my n in a situation where we risk our lives for an outsider," grunted Jia Yu Sheng, putting his foot down.

It was cute that he thought I cared. But what he didn’t realize was that I was more than happy to kill every last one of his team if it ant keeping

and mine safe.

Taking in a deep breath and pushing down the rage until I could respond in a more appropriate manner, I finally nodded my head. "In that case, you are more than welco to stay here and look for the items we need to complete our mission."

"And while you might think that you are welco in this house, I can assure you, you are not. Find soplace else to go until you leave the city," interjected Liu Hao Yu as he cleaned his fingernails with the tip of his knife.

Jia Yu Sheng looked almost shocked over the fact that he wasn’t able to continue to stay in the Red Dragon house.

I an, I felt a bit bad for him, but the guy had done a great job of cleaning out the other hos in the neighborhood, so he and his team shouldn’t had too hard of a ti finding a place to stay.

But I had more to worry about than being a good hostess. I needed to find my n.

And then put them on a very short leash, it appeared.

----

A shiver of fear went down Ye Yao Zu’s back, and he looked at Cheng Bo Jing to see if he felt the sa thing.

When the other man nodded, Ye Yao Zu turned his attention back to where the n and shapeshifter were leading them to. Maybe the premonition of fear was coming from that direction.

"Hurry up," grunted the hairless, toothless man behind him. Pushed forward, it took Ye Yao Zu a minute to regain his footing.

"No bruising the at!" replied the woman at the front of the line. She weaved in and out of the aisles as the rest of them followed her toward the back of the store.

"Oh, sure! Let’s check out the camping supplies," grumbled Cheng Bo Jing as he shouldered his way to Ye Yao Zu. "That seems like the perfect idea right now, doesn’t it?"

"Hey! I didn’t hear you really protesting the idea," sneered back Ye Yao Zu. "We wouldn’t be here if you didn’t agree to it."

"Right. Bla it all on . I just wanted to stay at our post and wait for the rest of the teams to show up," snapped back Cheng Bo Jing, a look of rage crossing his face, and he lunged toward the other man as if he wanted to kill him.

"Shhh!" growled Ye Yao Zu, looking around fearfully. "You shouldn’t tell them that."

"You shouldn’t tell us what?" asked the woman as she turned around and walked back to where the two n were standing, surrounded by at least eight of hers.

"Nothing," replied Ye Yao Zu quickly as he shot a look at Cheng Bo Jing. "Absolutely nothing."

Cheng Bo Jing narrowed his eyes before he turned his face away and looked into the rest of the shop.

"No, I think that it is sothing. What shouldn’t you tell us?" murmured the woman as she approached Cheng Bo Jing and placed her hand on his chest. She was still at least a head shorter than the man, so she had to look up at him from under her lashes. "If you let

in on the secret, I’ll let you in on a secret of my own."

"Oh?" smirked Cheng Bo Jing, a look of interest flashing in his eye for a mont. "I do like secrets."

While he continued to flirt with the woman touching him, internally, Cheng Bo Jing couldn’t decide if he just wanted to kill her first or puke. But either way, he was burning the clothes that she was touching.

Ye Yao Zu couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the thoughts going through his friend’s head at the mont. Luckily for both of them, he had set up a shield in Cheng Bo Jing’s mind the second he realized that they weren’t alone.

The hostiles incorrectly thought that they were both spirit users, when in fact, Ye Yao Zu had put part of his powers in Cheng Bo Jing to prevent anyone from reading his mind.

More than any other power, spirit power could be manipulated in wonderous ways if you were willing to experint a bit.
