Chapter 225: The Patient
"What?" asked both n, cocking their heads to the side, looking at
like I had gone crazy.
"Wu Bai Hee is known as the Princess of City A. The most loved woman in all of Country A," I sneered. They had yet to have the pleasure of eting this new version of an old friend. "She claims not to have a power, but the healer on my team said that she is a spirit power user, capable of manipulation. She is also pregnant."
"Okay," said Huang Xiao Wen slowly. "I an, I can kind of see it, but if she is alive, why wouldn’t she co back?"
"And leave an entire city that bows at her very feet? She is also in a relationship with Zhou Jun Jie, the leader of City A Sanctuary. We are out on a mission to find her glassware, vases, and 500-count thread sheets. Can this small place really provide her with all of the comforts she has beco accustod to?"
I have t a lot of people that I both hated and hated , but Wu Bai Hee really took the cake when it ca to being a Green Tea Bitch.
"And if they dropped her na to Lai Jie, then he would have automatically let them go," grunted the newcor, leaning against the door fra. "He and his followers might even be following them now to get back to the Syndicate Princess."
"No wonder she has such a complex, if that is what you guys call her," I grunted, rolling my eyes. The woman didn’t need a more inflated ego, thank you very much. She also didn’t need more sycophants in the city catering to her every move.
"So, what’s the plan, Head?" asked the man, no longer as much in a rush now.
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, pictures flashed in my mind, going through my head so fast that I could barely keep up. But one thing was for sure...
"Let them go," I said, turning to Huang Xiao Wen.
"No!" disagreed the man at the door. "We can’t let that type of betrayal go unanswered."
"Let them go," repeated Huang Xiao Wen, his eyes never leaving mine.
The man straightened and nodded his head. "Yes, Sir." Turning around, he left the house, and Huang Xiao Wen closed the door behind him.
"What? No questions?" I asked, surprised. In fact, I was surprised that he even listened to
in the first place.
"I have lived on the streets since I was four years old," he said, coming closer until he was standing in front of . "I have learned to trust my instincts, even if my brain is telling
sothing different. So I will trust my instincts this ti as well."
"The reason why we ca this route is because I knew there was a zombie horde waiting for people on the highway. The Princess Teams and anyone that they bring with them are only going to beco food in less than an hour," I explained.
If he was willing to trust , the least I could do was trust him back. Besides, this man had always been polite and friendly to . He had all the reasons in the world to hate , and yet, he didn’t.
"Are the zombies going to co here?" he asked, staring down at .
"No," I replied, the answer just coming out of . "They are sticking to the highway until they get to City A. That is their final destination."
Huang Xiao Wen nodded his head. "I think that being ripped apart by zombies is a much worse punishnt than anything I could have co up with."
"I think so, too," I smiled. "Now, where is the patient?"
----
Huang Xiao Wen led
up the stairs and onto the second floor of his house. Gently knocking on one of the doors at the end of the hall, he let us in.
"Healer, this is Wu Ying Tai, the second daughter of the Black Mountain leader, Wu Jian Jun," he introduces the girl on the bed. Going around the room, he opened the curtains and lit a few candles so I could see better.
"Ying Tai," he murmured softly, placing a gentle hand on the girl’s shoulder, waking her up. "This is the Healer," he continued, his voice soothing.
Ever so slowly, she turned her head to the side and looked at .
Her lips were so dry that they were split and bleeding, her face whiter than a sheet of paper. Her hair was straw-like and brittle, while her skin was stretched over bones.
She was a fraction of the size she could be, and I could see her heart beating slowly in her chest, even from here.
Only wearing a white dressing gown, she looked like she was nothing more than a ghost.
"Only he calls
Healer," I smiled at her, reaching out to take her hand. She might be the little sister of the biggest bitch I had ever t, but the way she looked was breaking my heart. I could hate her once she was better if necessary. "My na is Wang Tian Mu, and I am a doctor."
I gripped her hand and let my powers flow into her.
I honestly had no idea how she was still alive. Most of her organs had either died or were in the process of dying. She only had about 65% of her lungs functioning, and her heart was struggling with every beat. Her muscles were practically gone, having eaten themselves in an attempt to keep the rest of her body alive.
In order to be alive right now, it ant that this girl was a fighter. She could have given up a long ti ago, but she continued to hold on, struggling with every breath she took.
I wondered what gave her the strength to keep going.
And then I saw the look on her face as she stared at Huang Xiao Wen, not caring at all about anything else but him.
I nodded to myself as I perched a hip beside her on the bed and got comfortable. She was no different than how I was in the camp; she was fighting to stay with the man she loved, even if he couldn’t see it.
