Chapter 222: Breaking You

"It looks like we are going to have so fun tonight!" called out the man, who I could only assu was the leader of the Black Mountain Syndicate.

Cheers rose up around us, and I could feel my guys stiffen around . These n had yet to discover , but it was only going to be a matter of ti.

And since I was the only woman out of a hundred n, I was going to assu that my fate would be different. But, once again, all I could see was darkness when I pushed myself to see into the future.

Right, with the Void around, everyone’s powers were useless, mine most of all.

"Split them up. These pretty boys can go to the kitchen, while those who look like they can fight will go to the cages."

There was shouting as the teams from City A were divided and pushed toward their designated areas. It reminded

enough of Camp Hell that I could feel the walls closing in, and I struggled to breathe.

Our team, as a whole, was taken over to a separate area. There were houses all around us, but in the very center was a line of large cages, just like what the fighters had back in Camp Hell.

Was I really destined to always find myself back in this situation? Was there nothing I could do to avoid it?

A high-pitched whining sound escaped my lips as we were divided up into groups of ten, each one put into a different cage.

"And just what do we have here?" sneered a voice just off to my side. "I really didn’t expect you all to be hiding such a treasure."

I could feel Rip lunging forward, only to co up short by the sound of a safety being removed from a gun.

The click was enough to clear my mind for a second, allowing

to look up and see what was going on.

However, I wish that I hadn’t. Instead of my n acting as a wall between

and the threat, I was looking down the barrel of a gun.

No wonder Rip had stopped moving. In fact, not a single one of my guys dared to so much as flinch with the weapon so close to my head.

"Did you really think you could slip between the cracks? We would have found you eventually. Once the n trying so valiantly trying to protect you died in the ring, you would have stood out like a sore thumb. Then the real fun could begin."

I hadn’t heard the man’s voice before; he wasn’t one of the original three who had spoken, but his words were so much more terrifying.

"Leave her alone," growled Bai Long Qiang. He was straining against two n, but he wasn’t trying too hard. I think he was scared that if he did manage to get out, I would be shot.

"I am a healer. Surely you need soone like

around," interjected Bin An Sha, stepping forward a bit so that the man in front of

could see him.

"The Void makes your powers obsolete," shrugged the man, a big smile on his face.

"I am sure that you aren’t always going to be around him. I an, you must go out on missions. How much easier would life be if you knew you had soone to draw you back from the brink of death," continued Bin An Sha.

He looked relaxed, his hand in his pants pocket, but I could see the strain around his eyes and mouth.

"Don’t worry," I said, letting out a long breath. At least the shock of the gun in my face brought

out of my panic attack. I don’t recomnd that thod. I much prefer to be in one of the guy’s arms, but this way worked, too. "I’ll be fine."

The man in front of

scoffed at my words. "Such a brave little Butterfly. But with all the n here, I don’t think that you will be that brave for very long. Even if we were gentle, after the first 50 or so, you would be begging us to put you out of your misery. And I am one of those ones who love plucking the wings off of butterflies."

"It’s not the first ti, and it won’t be the last," I shot back. And it was true. While I might be a virgin, it wouldn’t be the first ti I had begged for death, and if I continued to find myself back in these situations, it wouldn’t be the last.

The weird part was that I was actually scared to go into the cage. Not that I thought the guys would hurt

or anything along those lines, but just because it wasn’t my cage.

Maybe I should find myself another one like what I had in Camp Hell. That way, Fan Teng Fei could carry it around with him and could take it out whenever I needed it.

"Then I look forward to breaking you."

The man lowered the gun and grabbed

by my upper arm as the rest of the Black Mountain mbers pushed the Rising Phoenix n into the cage and locked the door.

Rising Phoenix. The na had a new aning to

right now as I stared at my n, one at a ti.

I wondered how many tis the Phoenix could rise from the ashes before she just stayed dead.

Taking in a deep breath, I raised my head and nodded at Cheng Bo Jing and Fan Teng Fei. As long as all seven of them were alive, I would keep coming back.

Shifting my attention to Si Dong and Ye Yao Zu, I blew the two of them a kiss, forcing myself to relax. I didn’t want them to see

scared. It wouldn’t do any of us any good to be terrified.

"You and

against the world," called out Bai Long Qiang as he rapped his hands around the bars and looked at .

"Forever and always," I nodded back. Turning to Rip and Bin An Sha, I took off my glasses and threw them toward the guys. Rip grabbed them out of the air and handed them to Fan Teng Fei.

My eyes completely uncovered; I heard the gasp coming from Chang Guo Zi and the other cages.

"The Healer," soone whispered.

I smirked. I might hate it, I might fight it tooth and nail, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t go to my death denying who I was inside.
