Chapter 111: She’s Alive

Bai Long Qiang sat down in one of the chairs in the conference room with a soft sigh. He really wished he had his notebook that said: ’Yet another eting that could have been an email’. This was nothing but a waste of ti and energy.

Everyone else was in the sa boat; the woman with Wang Chao almost broke her jaw yawning before pulling out a piece of carrot cake. Lucky bitch.

A third woman who appeared at the eting yesterday sneered, "Are you really eating carrot cake for breakfast?"

Bai Long Qiang rolled his eyes. At this point in ti, he couldn’t think of a single person who would not eat carrot cake for breakfast if that was an option. Why did females always have to start a fight if there were more than two of them in a room?

When the idiot beside the unknown woman started in on the fight, Bai Long Qiang had enough. Looking over at Wang Chao’s teammate, he opened his mouth, "I ant to ask, are you a space user?"

He really didn’t care about her answer. The space user could be any of the guys around her, but it was enough to squash the argunt. He had enough of a headache, and these people were only making it worse.

"I am," replied the woman with a nod. "I don’t have a lot of space, just enough to keep

in cakes and coffee for a while."

Bai Long Qiang nodded his head. Smart answer. Never admit to how much space you actually had. If you had too little, you were useless. If you had too much, you were too much of a liability.

"We have a team mber that has a space, too. He said that it was only about 30x30, but every little bit helps when you are collecting supplies." He let out a low chuckle when her eyes lit up with the ntion of supplies. Wang Tian Mu had the sa look on her face when he talked about them too. Too bad the two wouldn’t be able to et. They might have actually been friends.

"Supplies are important," she replied, nodding her head like a chicken. "Have you been able to find a lot?"

"Not so much. Most of the stores have been picked over, but we have enough to last us a short ti." When in doubt, deny, deny, deny. Never admit to how much you had; it was the first rule that Wang Tian Mu had drilled into his head when he first asked her about her horde.

"Have you tried raiding houses? I find that there are a lot of supplies in a house that many people overlook." Bai Long Qiang had to bite his tongue to keep a neutral expression on his face as the woman practically crawled over Wang Chao to talk to him. However, given the look on Wang Chao’s face, if looks could kill, he would have been dead and buried in seconds.

"I never considered looking in hos, but that would make sense." After all, they got a year’s worth of supplies from his own house.

Wang Chao seed to have had enough and reached over to grab his woman and put her back in her chair. "Wang Chao," he said, holding out his hand.

Bai Long Qiang smiled as if he had no clue who the man was. "Bai Long Qiang, City D, Team A. But I guess that there is no longer a City D, so maybe I need to stop saying that." His face flashed with grief that he made sure the other man would see.

That was right... he was just a poor, sad, unremarkable man...

"The city might not exist, but your mories of it do," replied Wang Chao sagely. Little did the man know that it was much crueler for only the mories to exist.

The woman’s head snapped around to look at Bai Long Qiang, the look of amusent no longer on her face. "What did you say your na was?"

"Bai Long Qiang," he replied, his look of confusion not needing to be faked. He quickly looked over at Cheng Bo Jing, who was standing right behind him. Was there sothing he was unaware of?

"And you have a space user on your team?" she pressed, her attention never wavering for a second.

Bai Long Qiang nodded his head again, but his far hand dropped slowly under the table, grabbing the knife that was strapped to his thigh. "When you leave here, I suggest you go to City A. There is going to be a sanctuary there soon if there isn’t already. I am sure that you would do great there," she continued.

Bai Long Qiang nodded his head in agreent but didn’t bother to say that he had no plans on making it out of this base alive, let alone to City A. Instead, he made a joke, "If we get out of here alive, I’ll take that into consideration. And also look into raiding so hos between here and there." He winked at her, not caring that Wang Chao stiffened at his action.

She laughed and nodded her head, becoming silent just as the eting started. However, she had given Bai Long Qiang enough to think about. How the hell did she know his na, and why would she want him to go to City A?

"We had a confrontation yesterday with so of the zombies," said Deng Jun Hie, taking Bai Long Qiang out of his musings. He nodded his head at the other man’s words. "They were the sa zombies that Team A from City D had confronted earlier," continued the Major General.

Bai Long Qiang forced his face to turn white at the idea he didn’t do a good job at his task. "How?" he demanded as if he was truly that stupid.

"You were correct in cutting off their head. The problem that I don’t think anyone else knows or understands is that simply cutting off their heads is not enough to ensure their deaths. You then have to burn the body to ash." The Major General continued to prattle on, and Bai Long Qiang continued to act like a child whose wrist had been slapped.

"Are you saying that they can regrow a head?" asked Si Dong, taking the attention away from Bai Long Qiang and pointing out the obvious. They learned very quickly just how fast the zombies could regrow a limb... including a head.

There were more grumblings, but soon after that particular revelation, the Major General dismissed everyone.

Bai Long Qiang slowly rose to his feet as if the news they had received impacted him just as much as it had everyone else. However, before he could leave the room, Wang Chao’s woman approached him and pulled him to the side.

"She’s alive."
