77: Chapter 10 Search and Rescue 77: Chapter 10 Search and Rescue Before dawn, when the sky was still dark.

Loud whistles pierced the silence of the temporary training camp on the beach.

Everyone was jolted awake from their sleep.

Gu Xiaoxi, Song Jingyi, Qin Chu, and Li Chun all beca alert, jumping out of bed, quickly getting dressed, shouldering their packs, and rushing toward the assembly point.

In three minutes, everyone had assembled.

Shao Changfeng spoke in a serious tone, “Last night, a Level Seven typhoon struck unexpectedly.

Around one o’clock in the early morning, a rescue team that went out to sea encountered huge waves at around five-thirty on their way back.

Now, ten team mbers are missing.

The higher-ups have ordered that all soldiers training by the sea who are good swimrs must board the ship and go out to sea to search for our missing comrades.

Now, those I call by na, follow imdiately.”

Shao Changfeng called out ten nas, including himself that made eleven in total.

Among them, Gu Xiaoxi was the only female soldier, and, undoubtedly, her swimming ability was naturally the best.

Under Shao Changfeng’s orders, everyone quickly boarded the ship.

The first search and rescue vessel set out to sea.

Gu Xiaoxi looked at the sea, now gradually calming, and found it hard to believe that at five in the morning, there had been such huge waves.

They had slept so soundly that they hadn’t even realized that a typhoon had occurred.

“Platoon leader, why was the typhoon so strange?

We didn’t feel anything at all,” a male soldier asked curiously.

Shao Changfeng looked up, seeing that Gu Xiaoxi also had a questioning look on her face, and explained, “The area where we camped was surrounded by dense forests in a very safe bay area.

Unless it’s a typhoon of Level Eight or more, the impact on that location is minimal.

But at sea, it’s different.

They went out to sea yesterday, and the yacht encountered winds of at least Level Eight.” Normally, a typhoon’s strength diminishes significantly by the ti it makes landfall.

It was normal for everyone to have slept soundly and heavily last night after the day’s exhausting training without noticing the storm.

Gu Xiaoxi looked out to sea, the blue waters sparkling as the sunrise peeked over the horizon, painting half the sky red.

The seascape was beautiful, but no one was in the mood to appreciate it at this mont.

The boat raced at full speed towards the initial point of the incident, and two hours later, they reached the site of the accident.

After reporting to the superiors, Shao Changfeng launched speedboats from the ship.

The rescuers ford groups of four and began searching, using the yacht as a center point to start from.

Gu Xiaoxi, Shao Changfeng, and another person nad Jiang Youhua, three in a boat, navigated the speedboat around in search.

At the sa ti, helicopters sent by the higher-ups were also scouring the area.

“Can we really find them this way?” Gu Xiaoxi listened to the droning of the speedboat’s engine as they sped along.

They couldn’t just keep searching aimlessly.

“It’s the dumbest thod, but it’s also the best we’ve got.

There are already boats and planes searching around the major islands.

We need to search the sea for any isolated comrades!” Shao Changfeng said coldly, driving the boat.

“The sea is so vast now, shouting won’t get any response!

If it really was a massive typhoon, their fate is unpredictable,” Jiang Youhua said with a grim expression.

Gu Xiaoxi bit her lip and remained silent.

It was certainly very dangerous.

Shao Changfeng narrowed his eyes and said to Gu Xiaoxi, “Do you know who went out to sea last night?”

Gu Xiaoxi looked at Shao Changfeng, puzzled, “Who?”

“Yi Chentian and Zhong Ming!” Shao Changfeng said.

Actually, he had always been aware of the relationship between Gu Xiaoxi and Yi Chentian.

Not just him, but so officials in the new recruit company knew as well.

During the new recruit period, Yi Chentian often ca to the base to stealthily watch Gu Xiaoxi train.

It was just that no one had spoken of it openly.

However, he didn’t know that they had already broken up.

Sitting in the speedboat, Gu Xiaoxi pursed her lips, at a loss for how to feel.

Worry was certainly present, for she would be concerned for anyone encountering danger.

But she couldn’t deny that after hearing Shao Changfeng’s words, her worry beca even heavier.

Even though they had rely brushed past each other, even if it was just a second of eting, in her mory, it left a profound mark, not sothing she could easily forget.

She hoped that they were all safe and sound.

After a whole morning of searching to no avail, the speedboats had to return.

Gu Xiaoxi looked up at the rising sun, still with no news of Zhong Ming and Yi Chentian.

Could it be that they had truly t with an accident?

Back on the yacht.

Gu Xiaoxi took out her phone, searched for last night’s typhoon direction, and related information.

Then she said to Shao Changfeng, “Let’s continue searching south.

Let’s see if there’s a coast on the south side.

Zhong Ming used to be the captain of the special forces, his comprehensive military quality is very strong, how could he possibly have an accident just because of the typhoon?”

Shao Changfeng reported Gu Xiaoxi’s thoughts to his superiors, and they agreed to continue the search southward.

At the sa ti, they also received intelligence from superiors that a capsized boat had been found two kiloters away from their current location.

So far, ten comrades had gone missing, not a single one found.

Shao Changfeng drove the yacht southward until three in the afternoon.

They then saw an island with a small, pointed tip.

It took them another hour of sailing before they were a little closer to the island.

As they approached, they spotted soone on the beach who had also started a fire, with smoke visible.

Gu Xiaoxi suddenly climbed to the highest point of the yacht, took out a telescope to look, and indeed saw six or seven people on the beach.

“Shao Changfeng, they are over there!

Report to the superiors quickly!” Gu Xiaoxi exclaid excitably.

Previously, a helicopter had co by, but everyone was in the forest looking for food.

The rising tide had washed away the SOS ssage they had written on the beach.

By the ti they ran out of the forest, the helicopter had already left, so they missed the first rescue.

This ti, they had lit a fire, hoping that rescue would co once again.

To their surprise, it really did co.

Shao Changfeng led ten people off the boat, with Gu Xiaoxi closely following.

On the beach, both Zhong Ming and Yi Chentian had sustained serious injuries.

Zhong Ming’s leg had been injured by the capsized boat, and he was now unable to move.

Yi Chentian, in trying to protect his comrades, was covered in wounds from being battered by the waves, and the wounds were now inflad, his lips pale, running a persistent high fever.

Despite receiving ergency treatnt, it had no effect whatsoever.

Upon seeing this, Shao Changfeng imdiately carried the two of them onto the boat, which had a first aid kit for treating their injuries.

On the deck, everyone surrounded the two seriously injured, bandaging and applying dication to them.

anwhile, Gu Xiaoxi, holding disinfectant, bandaged those with minor injuries.

Watching that only seven of them returned, Gu Xiaoxi pursed her lips, remaining silent.

But the others had a grave expression as they said, “When the boat capsized, the waves scattered us all.

If Captain Yi hadn’t protected , I probably wouldn’t have made it back either.”

Gu Xiaoxi patted his shoulder, “It’s good you’re alive, don’t think too much.

The search and rescue team is still looking, so let’s not be too sad.”

So words are destined to comfort others.

Gu Xiaoxi’s rationality allowed her to see very clearly.

The others surely didn’t have enough physical strength and endurance to hold out until the end.

She thought, on the path of being a soldier, physical fitness was an extrely important aspect.

“Gu Xiaoxi!” Suddenly, Shao Changfeng’s voice ca from not far away, “Co over and help hold soone steady!”

Gu Xiaoxi turned around and saw Shao Changfeng pointing at Yi Chentian, who seed to have had his wounds bandaged, but his body was wrapped in bandages and his cheeks were flushed with a high fever.

Gu Xiaoxi clenched her teeth, with so many people standing by, why did he have to ask her for help?
