71: Chapter 4 The More I Think, the More Confused I Get!

71: Chapter 4 The More I Think, the More Confused I Get!

This was a night when everyone was so exhausted they felt close to death.

The male soldiers couldn’t stand it, let alone a bunch of girls.

At three o’clock in the morning, everyone had finally completed the day’s training tasks.

Near the end, everyone was almost out of breath.

Especially since everyone was starving.

Fortunately, this wasn’t like the new recruit company where there was no food to eat in the middle of the night!

At three in the morning, there was still enough food prepared for everyone.

In the cafeteria, a group of people wolfed down their food like starved wolves.

Gu Xiaoxi had just sat down at the dining table.

Song Jingyi wanted to sit next to her but soone had snatched the seat before her.

Zhao Yi plopped down next to Gu Xiaoxi, biting into his bun ferociously while glaring at her with fury, “Gu Xiaoxi, did you do this to on purpose?”

Gu Xiaoxi leisurely picked up her chopsticks, biting into her bun with an indifferent expression on her face, “Aren’t you the one who deliberately left behind?”

“You!” Zhao Yi was so angry he was practically steaming from his seven orifices!

Gu Xiaoxi, saying this, was admitting that she did it on purpose!

“You’re ruthless!

Gu Xiaoxi, I’m not finished with you!” Zhao Yi clenched his fist, the bun in his hand squished and crumbled.

Gu Xiaoxi just smiled at him slightly, but her smile was sowhat cold, “I’m ready anyti!”

Zhao Yi, furious, lifted his fist as if to strike but was held back by Chen Xuan who grabbed his arm, “Zhao Yi, don’t act rashly!

The company commander was angry this afternoon, and if he decides he doesn’t want you, you might be sent back to the new recruit company, and then no good company will dare to take you!”

Chen Xuan’s words instantly made Zhao Yi angry yet unable to protest.

“Gu Xiaoxi, from now on we are comrades in the sa company, I hope you can get along with everyone!” Zhang Jingyue raised her head, a trace of disgust in her eyes as she looked at Gu Xiaoxi, hostility appearing for the first ti in her usually untroubled gaze.

Gu Xiaoxi gently lifted her chin, her eyes smiling, but she spoke with a serene tone, “Of course!

I will certainly get along well with everyone.

It was he who left behind this afternoon.

I didn’t catch up, my apologies!”

She was never soone to bow and scrape, although she also wanted to maintain good relationships with her comrades.

However, if they intended to put her down,

Sorry!

She would never lie down and let them walk all over her.

Zhang Jingyue’s face turned red with anger.

Gu Xiaoxi’s words, although polite, clearly emphasized that she wasn’t the one at fault today!

Was she even implying that Zhang Jingyue had blad the wrong person?

Gu Xiaoxi took a few bites, feeling upset and finding it hard to swallow.

She divided the uneaten food in her bowl between Song Jingyi and Qin Chu, walking out of the cafeteria alone with a bun in hand.

(As food waste was not allowed in the military, unfortunately, her two friends had to suffer.)

On the large lawn outside the cafeteria, Chen Zhigang was still standing there!

It seed he was waiting for them to finish eating to allocate dormitories.

When Gu Xiaoxi approached, he raised an eyebrow on the sly, “Aren’t you hungry?”

“Reporting to the company commander, I’m full of anger!” Gu Xiaoxi didn’t hide her feelings one bit.

Chen Zhigang placed his hands on his hips, suddenly interested, “Everyone is full from exhaustion tonight, why are you full of anger?

Who upset you?”

Gu Xiaoxi’s bright eyes blinked but she did not answer Chen Zhigang’s question, “Reporting, may I make a phone call?”

Chen Zhigang looked her up and down, her slender figure standing in the night wind like a proudly blooming White Plum.

It was just a glance, but it strangely captivated him with a cold and lonely beauty that was hard to look away from.

“You may!” he said instinctively.

Gu Xiaoxi took out her phone, moved away from Chen Zhigang, and then dialed Quan Shaoqing’s number.

In the middle of the night

Quan Shaoqing woke from his sleep as his phone kept ringing non-stop.

He picked it up and saw that it was Gu Xiaoxi.

He was sowhat surprised!

If he rembered correctly, Gu Xiaoxi hadn’t paid any attention to him for over a week.

Why had she suddenly called, and in the middle of the night!

He instinctively answered the call and heard Gu Xiaoxi’s cold voice as soon as the line connected.

“I’m in a bad mood!”

Quan Shaoqing got up from his bed!

“Why is that?”

“Because of you!”

“What did I do to upset you again?” Quan Shaoqing was utterly confused.

“Because I am still training right now, while you’re sound asleep!”

Quan Shaoqing’s face darkened!

That reason…

“Gu Xiaoxi, rember the spirit and belief of Number Seventeen!”

Gu Xiaoxi gritted her teeth, “This is between you and !”

“How did I offend you again!”

“Because you were sleeping!”

Quan Shaoqing simply shut his mouth and stopped talking!

He admitted his cowardice, okay?

There was a long silence on the phone.

“Did you say sothing to Yi Chentian?” Gu Xiaoxi took a while to calm down.

Quan Shaoqing was startled for a mont, not denying it, “Your priority now should be training!”

“You’re the reason I don’t have crabs to eat, and now I’ve lost my boyfriend.

Are you going to compensate ?” Gu Xiaoxi’s fiery voice ca from the other end of the phone.

Quan Shaoqing couldn’t help but laugh, “What do you care about more, the crabs or your boyfriend?”

“Both!” Gu Xiaoxi replied, still feeling unappeased, “Also, I really hate you right now, so please stay away from .”

Then, the phone was abruptly hung up.

Whew!

Gu Xiaoxi let out a long sigh of relief.

She imdiately felt much more comfortable in her heart.

Indeed, when upset, one should vent it out, since all these issues were caused by Quan Shaoqing.

He deserved the midnight scare.

Gu Xiaoxi’s anger was so clear that Chen Zhigang could hear it from a distance.

When Gu Xiaoxi returned after the call, everyone had not yet finished dinner and regrouped.

Gu Xiaoxi sat cross-legged on the grass, and Chen Zhigang coughed and curiously asked, “Who were you calling?

Being so fierce in the middle of the night!”

“My guardian?” Gu Xiaoxi was naturally honest and forthright, and although Chen Zhigang had been fierce in the afternoon, once the anger had passed, he seed quite decent.

So, she simply started chatting with him.

“Your guardian, is he forcing you to join the army?” Otherwise, why would one disturb others in the middle of the night, seeking psychological comfort!

“Of course!” Gu Xiaoxi lifted her beautiful eyelids, looking at Chen Zhigang, “Captain, since training is over, if you could assign dormitories early and let go first!

I’m sweaty all over, I need to go back and wash up!”

Chen Zhigang gave Gu Xiaoxi a once-over, noticed indeed her hair was sweaty, before pointing to Dormitory 701.

“Go ahead!

You don’t need to regroup.

Tomorrow morning, everyone is allowed to miss exercise, wake up at seven!”

“Alright!

Thank you, Captain, for your consideration!” Gu Xiaoxi quickly scrambled up from the ground, then rembered sothing, “Where is my personal luggage?”

She rembered that when they got off the truck, no one had brought anything with them!

“It’s in your dormitory, all non-essential items have been confiscated!

Just head straight to the dormitory!” Chen Zhigang said.

Gu Xiaoxi gave Chen Zhigang a respectful military salute and imdiately ran towards the dormitory building.

It was actually quite unexpected!

The Captain was warm-hearted and truly considerate of everyone!

Although, the initial intimidation was a bit harsh, he was still able to show empathy for everyone.

Dormitory 701, a standard four-person room.

What surprised her was that the dormitory was equipped with a computer, desk, bookshelf, wardrobe, shoe cabinet, and even paper and pens!

This place was just like entering a high-level school!

Bathroom, washroom, shower room, all available!

Seeing this, she couldn’t help but curve her lips into a faint smile; though the training was tough, she liked the treatnt!

This hardship was worth it!

anwhile, Gu Xiaoxi was in a great mood, taking a bath and going to sleep.

On the other hand, Quan Shaoqing was totally unable to sleep!

Anybody would feel upset when soone they cared about said they hated them!

Thinking that Gu Xiaoxi was in so kind of trouble, he called Lin Mi in the middle of the night to ask about her recent situation.

Lin Mi, still in a daze from sleep, quickly gathered the information and reported on what Gu Xiaoxi had been up to lately.

“Superior officer, the new recruits’ company has been dividing troops.

Miss Gu has probably been assigned to a company.

She should have gone to the Infantry Reconnaissance Company!”

Quan Shaoqing paused for a mont, no wonder Gu Xiaoxi said she hadn’t slept at night; she had gone to the Infantry Reconnaissance Company—with the most intense training.

After hanging up the phone, Quan Shaoqing thought of the crabs and Yi Chentian that Gu Xiaoxi ntioned, and suddenly felt particularly bad.

It had only been a few days, and she dared to like soone else?

Under the thick night, the man’s upright silhouette was wrapped in darkness.

He suddenly rembered the passionate kiss in the wine cellar that evening.

All at once, he felt sowhat irritated and restless, stepping forward to pick up a cigarette from the table and lighting it up on the balcony.

Since when had he started having those evil thoughts about Gu Xiaoxi?

That kiss was like a candy luring him in, and once he had tasted the sweetness, he found himself increasingly unable to control the longing.

And to think, hearing the news that she liked soone else made him angry?

When had he started having those improper thoughts about Gu Xiaoxi?

He was eight years older than her!

She had just co of age!

The more he thought about it, the more chaotic his mind beca!
