Chapter 322: Dead Baby (2)
Looking at his eldest son who was very much like him, the forr master had been very touched. Fortunately, Duan Yarong was rescued. But, the baby inside her belly was…
“After about half an hour, the door of the operating theatre was opened once again. The nurse rushed out again with a child soaked in blood in her arms. She asked us to hold the child, but the child had already…”
Zhao Youlin was deep in her thoughts. “At that ti, did you all see the child?”
“Of course we did!” The forr master did not understand why Zhao Youlin had asked him the question. However, he still answered her truthfully, “At that ti, most of us were greatly affected by the news. The nurse carried the child in her arms so that we could give one last look at him. I cast a glance at the child and even touched him. He was icy cold…”
“Hold on. Grandpa, did you just say that when you touched the child, he was already as cold as ice, and didn’t feel any temperature at all?”
The forr master was stunned by Zhao Youlin’s agitation as she questioned him. The wise old man imdiately realized sothing unusual, “Indeed, he was icy cold and I didn’t feel any temperature at all.”
The forr master tried his best to recall the situation back then. When he touched the child at that ti, he felt the child was cold. The cold and hard feeling had him panicking, and he quickly took back his hand. He could still vividly rember this even today.
Zhao Youlin stroked her chin and said in a low voice, “Logically speaking, the nurse should have taken the child out imdiately after the child ceased breathing. Even if the child had already died at that ti, there should still be so warmth around him that ca from his mother. How could he be as cold as ice and not warm at all?”
The forr master’s expression changed. At that ti, everyone had been very shocked after learning that Duan Yarong had a hemorrhage. They were tense up and their hearts were clenched. They feared that the worst might happen to Duan Yarong.
It had not been easy until they finally received the news that Duan Yarong was safe and sound. At the sa ti, they also learned that the child, whom Duan Yarong had conceived for so long, had died at birth.
At that ti, he was struck so hard by that blow to the point that he and Zhao Shunrong were all ssed up. They failed to look further into the details. As he thought about it carefully, this was most suspicious.
As Zhao Youlin watched the forr master’s troubled face, her heart clenched. She originally had thought sothing was fishy with the incident. But, she never expected she was right by chance of luck. She had managed to discover so clues from the past.
“Grandpa, what happened to the child in the end?”
The forr master thought about it for so ti before he said in a low voice, “Most of the ti, the stillborns in a hospital would be handled by the dical officers.”
“If that’s the case, even if sothing had really gone wrong, only the nurse who had taken the baby out would know. Other than that, no one knew what had happened, right?”
The forr master’s expression grew increasingly troubled. He narrowed his eyes dangerously, which contradicted his usual softened gaze whenever he looked at his family mbers. A glimpse of bone-chilling light was caught in his eyes.
“Grandpa…” When Zhao Youlin saw the forr master’s troubled expression, she could not help but worry about him, so she called him in a low voice.
The forr master turned his head around and looked at Zhao Youlin profoundly. His expression gradually softened up, “What’re your thoughts regarding the matter?”
“?” Zhao Youlin was caught off guard. She furrowed her eyebrows and was deep in thought for a brief mont. She could not help but ask, “Grandpa, at that ti, who else was waiting outside the operating theatre apart from you and my father?”
“At that ti, the incident had happened all of a sudden. Uncle Zhao had inford everyone to co over to help out in case of ergency.”
“In other words, everyone was present at that ti.” Back then, the original Zhao Youlin had not been born into this world yet. So, the people around Zhao Shuncheng would be the original owner’s biological mother, Zhao Shunchang and Sun Fengzi… Could there be soone else among them…
The forr master quirked one of his eyebrows when he saw Zhao Youlin was deep in thought. He made a speculation, “Did you suspect…”
Zhao Youlin shook her head. “I was just asking casually. Things like this could not be judged based on speculations alone. It has to be based on tangible evidence. But…”
“But what?”
“But, if it really went in the way as we have thought, there could be a hidden agenda regarding this matter. I supposed the person who dared to play such tricks in the hospital would not just watch and not do anything, right?” When Zhao Youlin said this, she turned her head around and cast a glance at the forr master. She heaved a sigh and continued, “Anyway, this is only based on my personal feelings. If we think it like this, it doesn’t an that the opposite party would not do otherwise.”
The forr master’s eyes flickered as he nodded and said, “I will ask soone to probe into this matter.”
Back then, they had been very grief-stricken by the sudden onset of the incident. Throughout these years, they had purposely avoided this incident for fear of upsetting Duan Yarong. They dared not confront the wound that had long decayed.
Today, Zhao Youlin brought up the issue. Only then did the forr master realize that the best way to heal a wound was not to ignore and disregard it on purpose. In fact, they had to open the wound all over again to remove the pus and necrotic flesh so that new flesh could grow.
The forr master drew in several deep breaths. As he was looking at Zhao Youlin, a glimpse of light flashed across his mind. Those ancient eyes—which had beco that way because of the experience he had gained in his life, brightened up. He said teasingly, “Youlin, I’m afraid that today you didn’t co over to look for
just because you suddenly rembered this matter, right?”
Zhao Youlin’s entire body shuddered. As she t the forr master’s penetrating gaze, she sighed to herself. In his heart, she cursed him for being such an old fox, and she said resignedly, “Recently, I t a man who looks a bit like Father.”
The forr master’s expression changed abruptly, “What you an is…”
“I’m only suspecting it. There are many people who look alike in this world. It could be a re coincidence.”
Right after Zhao Youlin spoke, the glimpse of light caught in the forr master’s eyes sank. However, Zhao Youlin’s following sentences rekindled his hope.
“But, as you ntioned, the child’s body was already as cold as ice when he was taken out. It was highly likely that Mother’s child is…”
“Not dead yet!” The forr master, who had experienced nurous storms, could no longer hold back his excitent. His entire body was trembling.
“Grandpa, Grandpa, calm down… Cool down… All this is only our own speculation.” Although she knew that revealing this ssage would agitate the forr master, she never thought sothing which stood a slim chance like this could cause the forr master, who had everything in his mind, to lose his composure to such an extent.
If she had known about this earlier, she would have spoken less, or simply told them after she verified the truth. By that ti, nothing could go wrong even if she had speculated wrongly. On the contrary, if she had guessed it right, she was afraid that…
