"I’m here to find soone, why are you asking to pay? Have you gone money-crazy?"
"Sorry, ma’am, your friend brought soone for treatnt. The dical expenses are also your friend’s responsibility. If you don’t want to pay for her, I’m afraid you won’t be able to take her away."
Jade Yeats really felt like throwing sothing at the faces of the receptionist and cashier. What kind of nonsense were they talking about?
Her sister-in-law did a good deed and ended up in trouble?
What kind of people are these?
Jade Yeats didn’t act impulsively. With little Nicole by her side, she didn’t want to scare the child, so she took out a card and swiped fifty thousand. Not for anything else, but for Ivy Linden. Her sister-in-law stayed here all night without sleep, and she needed to take Ivy back as soon as possible to let her get so rest.
Right now, Ivy Linden and the baby in her belly are like living gods. It’s not just fifty thousand; even if it were five hundred thousand, Jade Yeats would take it out for Ivy Linden’s sake.
However, she was not going to pay this money for nothing. Once the troubleso neighbors returned, she would personally go over and demand every penny back.
"Ma’am, your card." The cashier and receptionist were pleasantly surprised that Jade Yeats actually paid the money. They were just trying their luck.
"Where’s Ivy Linden? Take to her."
Jade took the card from the cashier’s hand and spoke in a disgruntled manner.
"Alright. This way, ma’am, please,"
The receptionist made a respectful gesture with a smile; when there’s money involved, the custor is king, and she led the way.
A mont later,
Jade Yeats saw Ivy Linden; she was in Chantel’s hospital room.
"Mommy."
Nicole ran towards Ivy Linden.
Ivy reached out, ready to embrace Nicole, but the little girl was pulled back by Jade Yeats.
"Auntie Yeats?"
"Nicole, slow down. Your mommy has a little brother and sister in her tummy!"
Jade gently told Nicole.
Nicole’s sprint just now was a bit terrifying.
She was afraid it would harm Ivy’s baby.
Nicole’s little mouth opened slightly, and her clear eyes filled with regret: "Auntie Yeats, thanks for reminding . I almost made a mistake."
Jade smiled and let go of Nicole.
This ti, Nicole slowly walked over to Ivy Linden, not asking for a hug. She obediently handed breakfast to Ivy: "Mommy, Aunt Linden bought you breakfast."
Ivy Linden looked gratefully at Jade: "Jade, thank you."
Jade pouted, saying nothing, clearly upset with Ivy.
Ivy knew Jade was upset. She ssed up leaving Nicole at ho alone; she felt very guilty.
Ivy opened the breakfast box; inside was a bowl of nutritious porridge, two boiled eggs, and a small bag of sour plums.
Seeing that little bag of sour plums ward her heart. Lately, her morning sickness was quite severe. When Jade called, she ntioned it, not expecting Jade to rember.
"Jade, you’re so kind."
Ivy picked up the bag of sour plums, smiling at Jade.
"Yes, yes! Aunt Linden brought lots of nutritious stuff for mommy this morning, along with snacks and toys for Nicole."
Nicole’s childish voice said.
From the little girl’s expression, it was clear she adored this Auntie Yeats.
Jade, praised by the mother and daughter, blushed a little, quickly losing her anger. She still coldly told Ivy: "Don’t think a few nice words will earn my forgiveness. Next ti you leave Nicole alone at ho to rush to a salon for so stranger, I won’t be so forgiving. I’ll tell my brother."
At the ntion of Howard Yeats, Ivy got scared.
She pleaded, "Jade, please don’t. You’re the best."
Being the best wouldn’t work.
Jade thought to herself and glanced at the bed where Chantel lay. Was this the woman who tricked her sister-in-law into the salon?
Jade easily noticed Chantel’s face had undergone surgery. Having studied Western dicine, she could see through it. Later, Howard didn’t allow her to stay at the hospital, saying it was disgraceful for the Yates family’s oldest daughter to work as a re doctor.
Howard opened a large supermarket for Jade, so she didn’t need to work, just enjoying the dividends.
"I an what I say."
Jade gave Ivy no leeway.
"There won’t be a next ti."
Ivy popped a sour plum into her mouth, sipping on the sour taste, feeling much more comfortable in her stomach, suddenly wanting breakfast.
Seeing Ivy eat most of the porridge and a boiled egg with a good appetite, Jade felt relieved, flashing a brief smile. A few days ago, Ivy’s morning sickness was quite severe, to the point of eating nothing, which worried her a lot. The sour plums were sourced from a small country abroad, believed to help with pregnancy appetites.
They were handmade locally, with no additives.
"Sister-in-law, let’s go ho!"
Seeing the red veins in Ivy’s eyes, Jade felt both heartache and anger, not at Ivy but at Chantel on the bed.
If not for the troubleso neighbor, why would Ivy be here on a sleepless night?
Hesitation flickered in Ivy Linden’s eyes. It’s not that she didn’t want to leave, but the salon staff wouldn’t allow her.
"She hasn’t woken up since fainting, and no one’s paid her fees, so the salon won’t let leave." Not only that, but they also kept urging her to pay.
"Does she have any friends in Ravenswood? If not, she’s probably no good," Jade said. "Sister-in-law, don’t hang around with people like this. I’ll help you find a new place."
The woman on the bed shuddered her eyelids, fingers clenched slightly.
Chantel was awake but kept feigning sleep as she couldn’t afford the dical bills.
Hearing Jade’s insult, her temper flared.
Ivy didn’t speak up for Chantel as Jade was too good to her. Chantel was just a stranger; she wouldn’t upset Jade for Chantel.
Prioritizing what mattered, Ivy remained clear-minded.
"I’ve paid her fees; no one dares stop you," Jade added.
"What?" Ivy was surprised. "Why did you pay for her?"
Jade recounted what happened after arriving at the salon and continued: "This place looks like a shady operation, randomly extorting acquaintances of the patients for debts owed."
Ivy imdiately felt the sa; the salon’s actions were outrageous.
"Sister-in-law, let’s go back! Since she’s here, she can’t escape. After I send you back, I’ll co to collect the money."
Ivy nodded. As she got up to leave,
Chantel suddenly opened her eyes: "You can’t leave. Who will take care of ? I’m in the healing phase, needing the most care."
