Examination room.

Leo Griffin turned around, blocking the elderly woman and the young boy outside, frowning: "What are you two doing here? Go back, go back, the examination room is sterile, only doctors and patients are allowed inside, family mbers cannot enter."

"My mom is very healthy, what’s the issue with us accompanying her for the checkup? You wheeled my mom’s bed in, once she’s done, you’ll have to disinfect again anyway."

"Dr. Griffin, give us so leeway, let us in, we can lend you a hand."

The elderly woman and the young boy spoke to Leo Griffin with two completely different attitudes.

Leo Griffin was quite put off by Timmy Monroe, he spoke so boldly that soone might mistake him for a young noble from a distinguished family.

Unfortunately, the little boy wasn’t that lucky.

Leo Griffin had heard from Shelton Hale that this little boy was an illegitimate child, the kind that couldn’t see the light of day. That’s why in the two days Ivana Monroe had been hospitalized, the boy’s real father hadn’t even visited her.

Leo Griffin had also heard from Shelton Hale that the reason Ivana Monroe was able to stay in the No. 2 VIP ward was because she pushed Julia Sinclair down the stairs, wouldn’t admit it, and brazenly claid Julia had pushed her, demanding to stay in the most luxurious ward at Mount Cygnus Hospital.

If Julia hadn’t arranged things for her, Ivana threatened to imdiately post her injured appearance on social dia, accusing the doctors at Mount Cygnus Hospital of attempted murder.

This woman is truly terrible.

In all his years at the hospital, Leo Griffin had never encountered a woman as wicked as Ivana Monroe. Others are blatantly evil, committing cris and getting arrested, but Ivana, after doing wrong, managed not only to avoid arrest but also to cast herself as the victim.

No wonder Shelton Hale wanted him to punish Ivana in kind.

Serves her right!

"No, you must wait outside. No one is allowed inside."

Leo Griffin turned and slamd the examination room door shut.

Evan Reed was busy taking Ivana Monroe’s blood pressure.

Leo Griffin walked in, frowning slightly, feeling that Evan Reed was doing too much. He patiently waited for Evan to finish asuring Ivana’s blood pressure and noted "normal" on the examination sheet.

"Reed, stop for a mont."

"Huh? Dr. Griffin?"

"Go outside and stand guard for , don’t let her family in."

Evan was puzzled, why couldn’t the family co in? It was permissible for family mbers to enter the examination room!

Ivana felt sothing was amiss.

"That child is too unruly, coming in would affect our work."

"Okay."

Evan didn’t think much of it, put down what he was doing, and left the examination room.

Leo Griffin turned around, put on disposable dical gloves, picked up a syringe, drew in so sedative, and approached Ivana Monroe.

Seeing the needle in Leo Griffin’s hand, Ivana’s eyelids twitched: "What are you doing with that needle? What do you intend to do to ?"

Leo Griffin’s gaze flickered slightly: "What could I possibly do to you? Just helping with your examination, please cooperate a bit."

Ivana shook her head, her body trembling slightly: "No, what you’re doing isn’t helping with my examination, it’s a life..." saver.

As Ivana called out, Leo Griffin quickly stepped over to the hospital bed, forcefully covering her mouth, his gaze betraying a guilty conscience, and he stuttered, "Don’t scream, this is just part of the examination. If you yell for help, those outside might think I’m doing sothing to you."

Ivana raised her hands, pushing hard against Leo Griffin’s hand over her mouth, sending a heart-wrenching pain through her injured foot, tears streaming down her face as her fear swelled endlessly.

Even when caught by a serial killer, she was never this afraid, because back then, at least she was conscious and aware of what she was facing.

She could think of a way to deal with it.

But now, with her foot fractured, she couldn’t possibly resist Leo Griffin, and she didn’t know what substance was in that syringe.

She didn’t know if the injection would make her pass out or kill her outright.

Ivana didn’t want to die; if she died, what would happen to Timmy? Her grandfather was still waiting to see her get married, and he couldn’t possibly bear the news of her death.

Suddenly, Ian Keane’s face popped into her head.

Tears flowed even more intensely. If she died, Ian would be devastated, with his autism and temper issues. Would her death trigger an even worse ltdown for Ian?

Unconsciously, Ivana realized there were so many people she cared deeply about.

Leon Keane, where are you?

Ivana cried out in her heart, feeling the cold needle prick her skin, and suddenly opened her mouth, biting fiercely onto Leo Griffin’s hand.

"Ah~"

Leo Griffin’s face contorted in pain as his hand trembled, injecting so sedative before the needle broke, leaving half embedded in Ivana’s flesh.

Ivana bit down hard.

Leo Griffin was in agony, throwing the syringe to the ground, struggling to pry Ivana’s mouth open with his fingers, which bled profusely as they were grazed by her teeth, yet she refused to let go!

One second, two seconds... Several seconds passed.

Ivana, dizzy and unable to resist the waves of fainting, finally closed her eyes but kept her teeth clamped shut.

"Let go, let go! Vicious woman."

It took all of Leo Griffin’s strength to retrieve his fingers from Ivana’s mouth, holding his bloodied and bone-exposed fingers, Leo Griffin cried from the pain.

Damn!

Bitch!

She’s nearly bitten his fingers off, the very hands that held surgery tools, and Ivana just wanted to end his career and good life with one bite!

Outside the examination room.

"I think I heard mommy’s voice."

Timmy Monroe muttered, suddenly stepping forward, eager to rush into the examination room.

"You can’t go in."

Evan Reed stood like a guardian deity, blocking Timmy’s path.

"Get out of the way, move aside!"

Timmy swung his tiny fists at Evan’s leg.

Evan, feeling the pain, bent down to pick up Timmy, angrily saying, "You, child, why won’t you listen? Dr. Griffin is examining your mommy inside, yet you want to go in and cause trouble?"

Aunt Golding hadn’t heard Ivana’s scream, unsure if Timmy was mistaken or just making an excuse to go in.

Seeing Evan only holding Timmy without intending to hit the boy, Aunt Golding defended, "What do you an by causing trouble? The child just wants to be with his mommy, is that wrong? Your hospital is too inhumane; the examination room isn’t a quarantine area, why can’t the child go in and accompany his mommy for the checkup?"

Timmy punched Evan’s arm with determination.

Evan caught Timmy’s thin arms, wincing in pain: "Stop hitting Uncle Doctor, it hurts."

Evan looked up, his eyes brimming with tears: "Auntie, if you won’t help persuade the child that’s one thing, but how can you allow this? Children, spoiled like this, hit without knowing their strength. If those punches landed on another child, would the other parents forgive him as easily as I do?"
