The small species that fought for resources in the wild would start bloody battles over the smallest amounts of resources. Fighting and plundering resources could enable a small species to quickly grow stronger.
During these vicious fights, the weaker mbers of the small species who were unable to fight would also be eliminated. This reduced the species’ drain on resources.
This might co across as rciless, but it was the basic way of life for the smaller species in the Sky Beyond the Clouds.
Only the powerful species listed in the Species Ranking had the resources needed to care for the weaker mbers of their kind, who were unable to engage in combat due to their limited lifespan.
In the human world, families looked out for each other and were united, unlike feys, who were always fighting with each other. This was why humans had sufficient resources to positively advance their environnt and living conditions.
However, this culture did not exist in the Sky Beyond the Clouds.
Lin Yuan was interested in this fight, partially because he was curious and partially because he wanted to collect faith power.
Faith power was not a good that could be bought and sold.
Once a lifeform gave their faith to Lin Yuan, they would supply faith power to him continuously as long as their faith did not waver. They could even beco stronger sources of faith power if their faith in him grew.
Lin Yuan saw bodies littered on the ground even before he arrived at where the main battle was taking place.
Lin Yuan used True Data to check on the bodies and saw that they were mostly the corpses of Rough Scale Tooth Mice. A few of them were of the Thorny Scale Tooth Mice.
Lin Yuan found this curious because it was obvious that the Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice belonged to the sa type of lifeform. The Thorny Scale Tooth Mouse was the evolved form of the Rough Scale Tooth Mouse, and the two were not in competition with each other. Both the Rough Scale Tooth and Rough Scale Tooth Mice’s heads had been pierced by a long spike. They had been killed in an extrely clean manner.
The Thorny Scale Tooth Mice were all Suzerain/Myth, while the Rough Scale Tooth Mouse were only Platinum/Diamond. Such power was inconsequential in a place like the Sky Beyond the Clouds!
If the two species were truly warring, they would not have allowed so many weak lifeforms to be sacrificed as it did not benefit the developnt of their species!
At that mont, Kani, who had been in the Spirit Lock spatial zone all this ti attempting to reach Domain Mountain class, sent a ssage to Lin Yuan.
She could sense that she was going to break through in the next few days.
At that point, she no longer needed to absorb pure spirit qi. All she needed to do was wait for her grade to evolve on its own.
Before Kani began leading the King Blood Jackals in North of the Lonely River, the previous queen had led the King Blood Jackals in their conquests.
The previous queen had died in a battle for a piece of fertile territory. If that had not happened, Kani would have had to work and endure for much longer before she beca queen of the King Blood Jackals.
Yet, the piece of fertile land that had been important to the previous queen was nothing more than a poor and dilapidated land in Lin Yuan’s eyes.
Kani realized that in the ti she had spent by Lin Yuan’s side, her view of him changed drastically periodically. He was an ever-growing enigma to her.
Lin Yuan smiled when he found out that Kani was about to reach Domain Mountain class. It ant that all his hard work had not gone to waste.
Excluding Spring, Sumr, Autumn, and Winter, Lin Yuan finally had an expert who could hold her own in any fight.
Imdiately after being summoned, Kani saw the corpses of the Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice on the ground, and her expression turned stern.
“Master, I can’t believe there’s a rodent infestation here! This is clearly the edge of the rodent infestation. Given the strength of these rodents, it must be a pinnacle Class 2 or even Class 3 rodent infestation!

Mice could also cause disasters in the main world, but they only affected regular people. The true calamities that could affect an entire species were those caused by carcinoma feys.
But based on Kani’s description, the rodent infestation of the Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice was even more destructive than calamities caused by carcinoma feys!
The Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice were only around the size of a palm. They never grew longer than a human forearm.
It was difficult to imagine how many mice were required to form walls that were thousands of ters tall. It was likely that the mice at the bottom would either be crushed to death or suffocated.

“Aside from emperors and empresses, there are also kings. The regular mice aren’t very intelligent, but once they beco kings, they will beco intelligent enough to lead other mice into hiding.
“It took the King Blood Jackals so long to eliminate the mice because they can hide hundreds of ters underground. They will only return to the surface once their numbers have grown again. This makes it extrely difficult to defend against them.”
When Lin Yuan heard that, he could not help but think of the demon insects.
Based on Kani’s description, he believed that these bastardly mice, as Kani called them, were even more capable of reproduction than the demon insects were.
However, these mice could not compete with the demon insects’ intelligence. Even demon insects with Class 2 genetic locks were much smarter than regular lifeforms, much less demon insects with Class 1 Genetic Locks.
This was likely why the demon insects were accepted by most species, but the mice were shunned!
That said, the mice’s appearance solved an issue that had been plaguing Lin Yuan for a long ti.
Because of the existence of dinsional rifts in the main world, Silver Corona and Red Thorn could evolve their grades and qualities by consuming the waves of dinsional lifeforms that erged from the dinsional rifts. But due to the lack of dinsional rifts in the Sky Beyond the Clouds, Lin Yuan had lost his ans of evolving Red Thorn and Silver Corona. After all, he could not instruct them to hunt the other species.
But now, the appearance of these mice solved this problem that Lin Yuan had been facing.
He could instruct Silver Corona and Red Thorn to produce the sea of bone lotus flowers while he nurtured the mice and enabled them to reproduce rapidly. Once the quantity of mice had grown to a level that could et Red Thorn and Silver Corona’s needs, they would consu the mice through their seas of flowers.
Silver Corona was currently in Sky City’s territory and was unable to seize this al opportunity. As such, Red Thorn was the only one who was available to enjoy this al!
Lin Yuan raised his hand, and Red Thorn appeared in front of him.
After going so long without food, Red Thorn was understandably irritated.
It had never been deprived of food from the mont Lin Yuan began nurturing it.
But in spite of its annoyance, it still clung tightly to Lin Yuan.
After being summoned, Red Thorn imdiately took a seat on his shoulder. A red thread extended from Red Thorn’s green vine-like hair and wrapped around Lin Yuan’s wrist. This was just like how Lin Yuan used to tie butterfly knots on Red Thorn’s vines.
Lin Yuan raised his hand before pinching Red Thorn’s cheeks and saying with a smile, “Red Thorn, you won’t have to go hungry again. Now you can consu as much of these dead mice on the ground as you want. The further we travel, the more corpses there will be. You’ll be able to have a fine al! This rodent infestation might enable you to evolve!”
Red Thorn was currently Suzerain VIII/Myth III. Of all of Lin Yuan’s feys, Red Thorn was the most difficult one to evolve. This was not because of Red Thorn’s lacking talent but because it needed far too much energy to evolve.
Red Thorn’s bloodline had already evolved to ten wings and had created a new record for the fairies in the main world.
Red Thorn’s bloodline was also considered extraordinary in the Sky Beyond the Clouds. This was clear from Kani’s expression!
Kani was obviously shocked when she saw the five pairs of wings flapping on Red Thorn’s back.
Kani’s eyes were not fooling him. Kani was indeed astonished by Red Thorn having such a bloodline despite being only Suzerain/Myth.
However, Kani was even more floored by Lin Yuan.
She knew that Lin Yuan was a spirit contractor. With the resources in his possession, it was expected that he had contracted and was nurturing nurous lifeforms.
However, it was shocking that he had managed to evolve a Myth Breed fairy to ten wings!
If Lin Yuan was willing to invest in one fey to such a degree, it had to an that his other feys received the sa level of treatnt.
Fairies had established a faction called Fairy Palace in the previous epoch. They had a presence in all four universes.
From the mont that Fairy Palace was established in the East Universe, they remained in the top 30 of the Species Ranking. In recent years, they had even climbed up to the top ten. This was evidence of how fearso Fairy Palace was!
Fairy Palace’s interior structure was very complex, but authority was determined based on the strength of bloodline.
Fairies prioritized their bloodline’s legacy, and they were always willing to invest resources into nurturing their young.
The young mbers nurtured by Fairy Palace were also able to reach ten wings when they were only at Myth Breed. However, this only happened when Fairy Palace used the best resources and did their best to manifest such an outco.
The fairy sitting on Lin Yuan’s shoulder had a bloodline that matched that of the most outstanding young fairies.
However, she had no idea of the power that Lin Yuan’s ten- winged fairy possessed.
Red Thorn was never picky when it ca to food. It used to consu the corpses of various dinsional lifeforms. Most of them had already decayed horribly by the ti Red Thorn got to them. Red Thorn would then use the poison in the decaying dinsional lifeform corpses to speed up its digestion and absorption of them.
The Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice were considered weak in the Sky Beyond the Clouds, but they were the best source of food for the Suzerain/Myth Red Thorn.
Red Thorn did not move while sitting on Lin Yuan’s shoulder. All it did was raise its slender hand, and spores imdiately materialized before spreading and charging forward.
The spores landed on the Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice’s bodies and anchored themselves before growing into thick black vines. The vines did not consu the mice they were attached to but instead consud the mice that did not have vines growing out of them.
The mouth on the tips of the vines could gnaw and tear away the mice’s hard skin, devouring the mice like a grinder.
Soon, the brutal vine rats on the ground started growing as well, and the special spore cavities began ferociously spewing spores into the air. It did not take long for a sea of flowers to grow and stretch out as far as the eye could see.
Every inch covered by the sea of flowers had been cleared by the Thorny Scale and Rough Scale Tooth Mice corpses.
The vines’ roots were deep in the ground, and Kani could sense that the vines were able to serve as tools for detection. They could accurately locate the mice underground before capturing them and dragging them to the surface to be consud.
The expansive sea of flowers was both fierce and bizarre. The black thicket of vines also had gill-shaped flowers growing on them.
The gill-shaped flowers swayed in the wind, and an engorged ball of flesh grew at the center of the clusters. The ball of flesh released a howl that resembled that of a furnace and was like a newly grown sprout that had yet to grow into its final form.
Suddenly, Kani was struck by a thought. Was it possible for Lin Yuan’s ten-winged fairy to eradicate the calamity caused by these bastardly mice?
