It could be said that Chop Dark had caught Lin Yuan’s eye.
However, Chop Dark did not et Lin Yuan’s expectations in one another way.
The purity of the elental energy within it was much too low.
If it could absorb pure wind-elental energy, it could not only increase the purity of its own elent but might also gain the opportunity to transform.
Lin Yuan thought, It looks like I still need to use my own resources to nurture my prey, Su Jian.
Lin Yuan still needed to rush to collect the mouths of spirit springs and search for the lifeform within the Sacred Wood Mystic Realm. He did not have the ti to entertain Su Jian.
Hence, Lin Yuan used his contract to send an order to Ding Chengshuo.
In the ti they had been together, Ding Chengshuo had perford well, and Lin Yuan had rewarded him accordingly. Amongst the rewards were five wind-type elental pearls that had outer layers.
After he received Lin Yuan’s order, confusion crossed Ding Chengshuo’s face. He did not understand why Lin Yuan wanted to do such a thing.
However, Ding Chengshuo dared not question Lin Yuan’s order.
Just as Ding Chengshuo took out the brocade pouch containing the five wind-type elental pearls with outer layers, he heard a voice behind him, “Su Jian, what has gotten you so worked up? You summoned your fey right after entering the Sacred Wood Mystic Realm. City Lord Ding and the Bai family have so history. Why don’t I act as the diator, and we all bury the hatchet?”
Bai Dong’s tone did not seem to be diating. Rather, he seed to be trying to protect Ding Chengshuo while exerting pressure on Su Jian.
However, the Su and the Bai families happened to be in cahoots at the mont, and Su Jian could not cross Bai Dong.
Su Jian was well aware of what Bai Dong’s intentions were.
Ding Chengshuo had a spot on the Sacred Wood Mystic Realm’s council, but he had not allied with any large families from Sacred Forest City. He had even turned down the olive branch extended by the Yu family.
Bai Dong’s intention was to make Ding Chengshuo owe him a large favor. This way, Ding Chengshuo could not turn him down in the future when he approached him for recruitnt.
Through this, the Bai family would gain another seat on the council and have more authority.
Su Jian was never the kind to play the long ga.
Even if he knew that he could not oppose Bai Dong now, Su Jian could not swallow his rage. The bubbling fury almost exploded out of his body.
When Bai Dong walked past Ding Chengshuo, he even patted his shoulder in a friendly manner.
He might as well have said, “Look how nice I am to you. Hurry up and join the Bai family!”
But after Bai Dong and Su Jian regrouped with the rest of the people from the Su family, what Ding Chengshuo did almost caused Bai Dong’s eyes to fall out of their sockets.
Ding Chengshuo walked up to them, beaming, and said to Su Jian, “Second Master Su! I spoke too quickly and forgot my manners. This is a treasure I used all of my family’s fortunes to trade for from Sky Creation! I shall give it to you now. Hopefully, you won’t take my inappropriateness to heart!”
At that mont, what Su Jian needed the most was a segue.
After all, he had already summoned his fey.
If he just listened to Bai Dong and let off Ding Chengshuo, it would seem as though he was afraid of Bai Dong.
Ding Chengshuo’s action not only provided him with the segue he was looking for but had even turned around and essentially slapped Bai Dong in return for his attempt at being friendly.
Frankly, Su Jian did not care if there was anything good in the brocade pouch that Ding Chengshuo had just handed him. Even if it was empty, there was no way that Su Jian was going to lay a hand on Ding Chengshuo.
Compared to ng Xiu, who was a pointless bootlicker, there was much more value in recruiting Ding Chengshuo.
Once the Su family entered the imperial court, what they would need most was support from the major factions.
If Ding Chengshuo could continue to be as cooperative as he was now, Su Jian did not mind letting Ding Chengshuo take charge of the entire north region.

Ding Chengshuo smiled when he heard what Su Jian said, but he was choking on his disgust internally.
Who the hell is your subordinate? I am Lin Yuan’s subordinate!
While he felt disgusted, Ding Chengshuo did not feel relieved or vindicated in the slightest by ng Xiu’s death. Rather, he felt a twinge of injustice for ng Xiu’s sake.
Although ng Xiu was petty to a fault and annoying to boot, he had contributed his fair share to the Su family.
Yet, Su Jian had not hesitated to kill this person who had worked so hard for the Su family.
This allowed Ding Chengshuo to understand just how rciless Su Jian and the Su family were.
