Evaline:

Elder Morwen and Elder Penn stepped into the living room with urgency, their presence imdiately shifting the atmosphere.

Relief washed through so suddenly it almost made my knees weak.

"Where's the boy?" Elder Morwen asked and River pointed at Kyros imdiately who had settled down on one of the couches near the fireplace.

The elders didn't waste a second and both of them moved straight toward Kyros who looked even more overwheld to see the two elder witches.

"Take off your t-shirt." Elder Morwen told him as she sat down beside him.

Startled, Kyros looked at and I nodded my head, silently telling him to do as he was being told.

He might not know what was happening, but he still listened and pulled his jacket and t-shirt off.

The sight of those black veins on his chest made dug my nails into my skin but Kieran's hand imdiately stopped . I looked up at him as he wrapped his arm around , pulling against his chest before he placed a soft, feathery kiss on my temple. It might not have made my worries for Kyros lessen, but it surely helped in grounding .

I watched as Elder Morwen's sharp gaze scanned the black veins on Kyros' chest, while Elder Penn observed from the side with a grim expression on her face.

"I see," Morwen finally murmured.

"It has taken hold," Penn added quietly.

My heart clenched even though I already knew that much.

"Can you remove it?" I asked imdiately, my voice laced with desperation.

They exchanged a glance. And the look in their eyes alone told the answer.

"But we can help you," Elder Morwen said. "And ensure it does not transfer to another host when forced out."

"We can also attempt to destroy it once it leaves his body," Elder Penn added.

I nodded before saying quietly, "I understand."

Elder Penn straightened. "We will prepare a containnt field. A controlled holographic spell. It will prevent the energy from escaping once you drive it out."

"And it will give us a chance to destroy it completely," Morwen added.

That was enough, actually more than enough.

For so unknown reason, I was confident that I could push the evil poison out of Kyros' body. I just worried that removing it from one body would only make it jump to the nearest person within its reach. And I couldn't let that happen.

But now with the two elders' help, maybe we could turn things around.

Honestly, I wanted to ask the n to leave the house with everyone else while I tried to save my friend, but I knew none of them would listen... not even Rowan. So I kept the thought sealed in my head and didn't dare speak it out loud.

Instead, I looked at the two elders and said, "Let's do it."

They nodded.

Within minutes, they began their work.

My mates and Rowan pushed the couches and the coffee table against the wall so there was large enough space for the two elders to set up the hologram.

They etched runes with moonstone powder on the floor before asking Kyros and to sit in the innermost circle of the hologram.

I held Kyros' hand as I pulled him into the circle, and he followed silently.

Once both of us were kneeling, facing each other, I cupped his face to make him look into my eyes as I spoke, "Kyros, that thing you saw back at the academy tonight, it's evil... and it has left its mark on you. If we don't get this poisoned energy out of you tonight... w-we..."

The words refused to co out, but I knew I had to tell him at least this much before we continued.

Everyone around us had gone still and silent, their gazes fixed on us.

I felt my mates' silent support and comfort through our bonds, and it helped grounding more than I could put into words.

I took in a deep breath, and finally spoke the words even though they ripped from the inside.

"... we will lose you tomorrow."

Silence.

Kyros stared at . His lips moved but no words ca out.

I tightened my hold on his face, fighting my own tears as they threatened to spill again. "It's okay. You don't have to pretend to be strong. I'm here."

His entire body fell into my arms as if he finally stopped holding himself together. I moved my arms around him and hugged him tightly. He didn't cry, but he hugged desperately enough that I knew just how scared he felt.

Monts later, he finally pulled back and took my hands into his. He actually looked slightly better now.

"Though I still don't understand what's going on... I trust you. So please get this... this evil energy out of my body, Eva."

I nodded quickly, a small smile finally making its way to my lips. "I will. I will."

Then I turned to the two elders and nodded.

"You should know that this hologram will trap you too inside it with that evil energy."

Morwen's words hit my mates so hard that I felt the impact sharp and clear through our bond.

But before any of them could speak and stop the elders from continuing with setting up the hologram, I did.

"I know. And I'm not worried." I let my gaze shift from Morwen to my n who looked ready to pull away from Kyros at any minute. "My power, it repels the Great Evil's energy for so unknown reason. So I know for sure that it wouldn't succeed in entering my body. You only need to worry about passing out in case I ended up using too much of my power. That's it."

"Eva-" Oscar began but I cut him off.

"I know it's not been long enough for to say I have mastered my power. But please trust ... this ti, I know what I need to do. And I'm confident."

I looked between the three of them, begging them with my eyes to let try.

No one else spoke. They realized this was between and my mates.

And finally, Kieran gave a small nod, followed by Oscar and River's imdiately after.

Relief washed over instantly.

"Thank you."
