"Clan Leader, a slave got injured. He can’t hunt anymore, so we were planning to throw him out of the tribe."
When the beastn saw An Jin in the distance, they imdiately fell silent and quickly cleared a path for her to pass.
In the center of the circle of beastn, a male beastman lay collapsed and unconscious.
His face was pale and there was blood at the corner of his mouth. Compared to the other burly, strong beastn, he looked considerably frail, as if he hadn’t had enough to eat for a long ti.
An Jin had a very good mory and recognized him at a glance. He was one of the beastn from the Luoten Tribe from two years ago.
Now, he held the status of a slave in her tribe.
There were over 200 others who shared the sa slave status as this injured beastman.
Slaves were not entitled to the tribe’s food distribution and had to do the hardest, most grueling work. It was the lowest status in the tribe.
If they were injured, no Witch Doctor would treat them. Only one fate awaited them.
—To be thrown out of the tribe and devoured by passing wild beasts.
An Jin walked over and crouched down. She looked at the slave’s shattered leg; a large chunk of flesh was gone, revealing the stark white of his broken shin.
His fibula was fractured.
Even though beastn were robust and had powerful regenerative abilities, with a severe fracture like this, there was nothing to do but wait for death if left untreated.
"Take him to the dical room for treatnt," An Jin said in a low voice.
The semi-conscious beastman on the ground heard the faint commotion. He struggled to open his eyes and looked at the female before him, so shocked he couldn’t speak a word.
The intense pain in his leg made his body tremble. His face grew even paler, and he bit his lip until it bled.
The beastn nearby were stunned. Even Ling Hong shot her a look of astonishnt and stepped forward to grab her hand. "Why save him? He’s just a slave. The tribe’s dicinal herbs are precious and aren’t to be used on slaves."
"Yeah, Clan Leader, he’s just a slave. If he dies, he dies. Why should we treat him?"
"He may be a slave, but he is also a beastman of this tribe."
An Jin looked up at the noisy crowd, her voice firm. "I said two years ago that as long as they harbor no dissent and are willing to contribute to the tribe’s developnt, they can earn the status of a tribe beastman."
These two or three hundred slaves had been very peaceful these past few years, doing the hardest and most tireso work for the tribe without complaint.
An Jin took everything in, evaluating the situation by her own set of standards.
She trusted her own judgnt and insight. These slaves had no intention of rebelling and could be accepted as beastn of the tribe.
If they were forced to continue as slaves, it was inevitable that over ti, anyone with a normal psyche would grow resentful and rebellious. That would only cause trouble for the tribe in the long run.
That was why she had been planning for so ti to grant them official status as beastn of the tribe.
"Th-thank you, Clan Leader..." the injured slave stamred, struggling to open his pained, bloodshot eyes as tears welled up in them.
He had already prepared himself for death. He never imagined that a re slave like him would receive help and treatnt from the Clan Leader herself.
Several of the onlookers suddenly felt a pang of guilt. They had indeed been too cold-blooded. Although there had been bad blood between the two tribes, two or three years had already passed.
Now, they were all brothers of the sa tribe.
And so, they moved with extre speed, carrying the injured beastman into the dical room.
dical conditions in the Beast World were primitive. Even Chi Li, a Great Witch Doctor famous far and wide, possessed very limited dical knowledge.
In the Beast World, a broken leg was considered a guaranteed crippling injury; there was no truly effective thod of treatnt.
"Do you have any dicine that can relieve pain or numb the sensation?"
Chi Li raised an eyebrow, looking at the unfazed An Jin. He was surprised by her calm confidence at that mont.
Seeing her determination to treat the injured beastman, Chi Li nodded. "You an Numbing Grass? I have a little of it left."
