Chapter 98
~Drake’s POV~
The house was unusually quiet that evening. Normally, the calm atmosphere of the house was sothing I appreciated after long days away, a place where I could finally breathe and think.
Tonight, however, the quiet only made the restless tension inside worse.
Ever since I gave my sister all the information she needed, I had been restless, hoping she would give good news soon.
My footsteps echoed faintly across the living room floor as I paced slowly back and forth near the large windows.
Outside, the city lights shimred softly through the glass, painting the night in distant hues of gold and white.
Everything beyond the walls of this house looked peaceful and ordinary, yet my mind refused to settle into that sa calm.
Since I returned from school and asked about the progress, Daisy told to wait a second; she would be with .
Now, it’s been over an hour waiting for Daisy.
My phone rested on the coffee table nearby, but I had already checked it more tis than I cared to admit. There were no new ssages and no missed calls.
Nothing.
Which ant Daisy was still digging.
A frustrated breath left as I ran a hand through my hair and turned toward the hallway again.
Earlier, she had walked into the house and headed straight for the dining room with her laptop and a stack of files without even bothering to greet . That alone had been enough to make my instincts tighten.
Daisy never ignored unless she had sothing interesting to say or sothing dangerous.
My pacing slowed when I finally heard movent.
The faint sound of footsteps reached from the dining room, followed by the quiet scrape of a chair shifting across the floor. A mont later Daisy appeared fully in view.
She looked exactly the way she always did when she was in the middle of uncovering sothing important — focused and confident.
And just a little too amused.
She placed her laptop down on the dining table before sliding into one of the chairs with an ease that suggested she had all the ti in the world.
I stopped pacing imdiately. "Well?" I asked. The word ca out sharper than I intended.
Daisy glanced up at slowly, one eyebrow lifting slightly as though she found my impatience entertaining.
"You could at least say hello first," she said casually.
"Daisy."
That was all I said, but the tone in my voice made it clear that I was not in the mood for gas tonight.
Her smirk widened. "Alright, alright," she murmured before flipping the laptop open.
The soft glow of the screen illuminated her face as her fingers moved across the keyboard. After a mont she leaned back slightly in her chair.
"I found quite a lot, actually."
My body stilled at once. Every muscle in my fra tightened as I watched her. Daisy adjusted the laptop slightly so she could read more comfortably.
"Her na is Jade Snow."
The mont the na left her mouth, sothing deep inside my chest twisted. Hearing it spoken aloud again felt strangely personal, in a way I did not quite understand.
"Single known parent," Daisy continued while scrolling through the information. "Alanna Snow." Her eyes scanned the screen briefly. "She attends Prestige Lunar Academy."
I nodded slowly. Most of that matched the little information I had already gathered on my own, but Daisy was not finished.
She leaned back further in her chair and crossed one leg over the other while glancing up at .
"Oh," she added lightly, "and guess what the spicy part is about this girl." My brows pulled together slightly. Daisy’s smirk deepened. "She has had more than one sighting with the famous Alpha Triplets."
The room suddenly felt colder. For a mont, I did not move, breathe or say a single word.
Daisy studied my reaction carefully. Her voice softened slightly as she continued. "Looks like she might be their—"
The word never fully left her mouth, because in that exact mont, sothing inside snapped.
My hand slamd down against the dining chair beside with sudden force.
The wood cracked violently beneath my grip, the sharp sound echoing through the room as the backrest splintered under the pressure.
The entire chair shook beneath my hand before the damaged wood finally gave way. My jaw clenched so tightly that a muscle ticked visibly along the side of my face.
A dark heat surged through my chest, rising from sowhere deep inside before I could stop it.
Drew roared deeply in my head. "Mine."
The thought struck my mind so violently that it startled even .
Across the table, Daisy slowly closed her laptop. Rather than feeling scared with my sudden outburst, the amused expression she had worn earlier had vanished completely. In its place was a far more observant look as her sharp eyes narrowed slightly while studying .
The broken chair creaked softly beneath my grip before I finally released it. And when I did, all that filled the room again was silence.
Daisy leaned back slowly in her chair, her fingers resting lightly on top of the closed laptop as she continued watching .
Then she spoke again in a much quieter and more serious voice. "Tell sothing, Drake."
I didn’t answer because I didn’t fully understand what had just happened.
I could not explain why the thought of Jade belonging to soone else had triggered sothing this violent inside .
Daisy tilted her head slightly, her eyes never leaving my face.
"Who the hell is this girl..." she asked slowly. A brief pause followed before she finished the question. "...and why has the thought of her being another man’s affected you this way?"
She let the words settle in while watching closely.
And for the first ti since this whole situation began... I did not have the perfect answer.
"I am not going to take no for an answer," Daisy pushed. "She’s your mate, isn’t she?"
