Leon and I remained in the room that the Alpha had told us to stay. It did not give us the permission to leave the park. So we just stayed put, waiting for our fate to be decided.

"Oh my God, we cannot stay here. We cannot."

"Why? Why are these people that you are all terrified about?" I put my hands in the air and he turned.

"Soone you don’t want to et."

"Are you sure you don’t want to et them?"

"Yes, very well sure. There’s a reason why you wiped your mories, Aurora. You don’t want to get your mories back and curse yourself. Understand?" Leon said.

And I know that, because I know it is who wiped my mories. And he’s right. There is a very good reason why I did that. I said to myself, and then Leon gazed out of the window.

"I’m coming, Aurora. I need to jump and at least find an exit."

"Are you out of your mind? Do you even have a brain at all? What if the Alpha catches you? He will straight up behead you. You know the consequence of trespassing, right?"

He said it to our faces. Beheading.

"Treason," I said, knocking the sense into his head with my words.

But he shook. "I can’t allow us to stay here. I will jump out of the window now, and you will remain here. Understand? I will go find an exit, and the minute I find one, I will imdiately co for you, and we will both run away. Again."

"I know that, I know that."

And then he opened the window and he jumped out.

I peeped out of the window, and Leon had completely vanished. I did not even see a trail of him, or even hear him landing. For how long has he been escaping?

I closed the window, and then I saw Kovu pawing on my bed.

"Kovu!" I rushed to it, and I started petting it when it licked .

I don’t know why these pets just keep disappearing and appearing every single ti. But still, it is here. I brushed its body.

"Where have you been?"

It purred. It purred. And then I noticed its color had changed. It was black when I saw it, but now it was not — white. Well, it was a lion when I first originally saw it. This is it. This is a very powerful animal that I am lucky is on my side.

I got up, gazing out of the window to see any trail of Leon, but still no trail.

"Where is that... where is that stubborn man?" I gritted my teeth. "He’d better be back."

And then I saw so wolf guards holding lanterns as they must have heard sothing. I imdiately held my breath.

Have they caught Leon? This fast? Are they going to be beheading him already?

But when I looked at them closely, they did not seem to be with anybody.

Phew! I let out a deep breath.

But still then, where is Leon?

I kept asking myself all the questions until I fell asleep. I did not even know how long I was asleep for until Kovu woke up by licking my face.

I got up to see it was morning already. I looked around the room to see if Leon had sneaked back in, but he was nowhere back.

"Oh, no! I hope... maybe... have they caught him already?"

I continued to go check. I opened the door, but the wolf guard imdiately closed it back on .

"I’m sorry, sir. The Alpha commanded for us not to open the door for you and your friend inside."

"Oh, yeah," I said. And then I imdiately obeyed because no one must know about Leon not inside. If I try to open the door again, his eyes will scan the room and will notice Leon is not actually inside.

"Oh, shit! Where is this man?" I said.

And then I talked to Kovu.

"Kovu, please, can you help go find Leon?" I said. And then it purred.

I lifted it and then opened the window. "I’m going to have to throw you out of the window. Safe journey, you understand? Don’t break a leg."

I threw it.

And then, surprisingly, Kovu landed on his forefeet. He turned to and he purred and started whining.

I closed the window imdiately, silently hoping that Leon is still alive because there’s absolutely nothing I can do without that man.

"Damn it! He knows. And he still keeps putting his life on the line. So stupid," I said to myself.

And then... And then... the door.

And then a knock was on the door.

"Aurora, are you in there?" the wolf guard said.

"Yes, yes, I am."

"Yeah, what about your friend? Is he in there?"

I imdiately ford Leon’s voice.

"Yes, yes. I am," I said in a mumbling tone.

"I can only hear soone. Are the both of you inside there?"

Oh my God. I panicked as I placed my hands on my lips, on my mouth.

And I said, "We are both two in here. Can’t you identify voices?" I said, covering my mouth with my palm makes the voice more audible and more masculine.

The guard then said, "Sobody is coming in now."

And then I held my breath.

"What?"

"No, no, please, no—no one should enter now! I am currently undressed," I said loudly, trying to sound frantic enough to scare the guard away.

"Well, you should get dressed because this is very important," the wolf guard said.

"Well, then let out! I can’t speak to the person."

"I’m sorry. Just... just get dressed. The person is coming right in now."

"Okay, fine!"

I held my breath as I lifted the lantern in my hand, making sure it was very heavy. If the person entered, I would imdiately slam the door shut and smash the lantern on their head. Yes. Perfect plan."

I stood by the door.

"Co in," I said.

The door opened. A masculine hand appeared, and I imdiately dragged the person inside and slamd the door shut. Before I could smash the lantern on their head, the person caught the lantern and broke it with one hand.

I froze.

Glass on the floor. Flas gone. My heart dying.

I gazed up at the person and my breath hitched. Blue eyes. Black hair. Very tall. Broad shoulders. Incredibly handso. I genuinely thought it was Leon at first, but this man... this man was much more handso than Leon himself. Which is illegal. Absolutely illegal.

"Um..." I blinked. "Who are you?"

"Aurora?" the man asked, staring at as if he had found his long-lost cow.

"Yes—Aurora? Who is that?" I said, feigning ignorance. If this man knew Aurora, I needed to act dumb.

"You are Aurora," he said, stepping closer. "Why are you dressed like a man? And why did you cut your hair?"

He dipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out red strands of hair. My red strands. Oh my moons—my hair. How long had he been tracking ?!

I took a step back.

"Who are you and why are you calling Aurora? I am a man," I said, slapping my chest so the iron plate beneath my clothes made a loud tallic clang sound.

He stared at my chest like he wanted to commit a murder.

"That is an iron. Did you put an iron in your chest to disguise as a man?" he said, laughing under his breath. "That is very un-Aurora of you."

Then, without permission—WITHOUT PERMISSION—he grabbed my hand.

"We need to go. Hazel has been worried sick. And your sister Alice—"

I froze.

Alice.... My sister... is she alive?

That was the only thing in his entire nonsense sentence that made sense.

But no. No. No giving in. Not yet. Gabrielle Whitewolf is a professional liar under pressure.

I yanked my hand away.

"I don’t know those people you’re talking about," I said.

He stared at like I was suddenly speaking frog language.

"Aurora, what is wrong with you? We need to go ho now. I told you—people are worried sick about you. And you and Leon are out here doing gods-know-what—Let’s go now."

"Who are you?" I said again. "What is your na?"

"It’s . Caspian," he said, gesturing at himself. "Can’t you see? Why are you acting like you don’t know ? Your act is off, Aurora. It’s fine. Only is here. The guards stationed at the door.. I told them to leave. You understand? You can drop the act."

"I’m sorry, but I don’t know you," I said genuinely.

His gaze softened. His voice lowered.

"You... don’t know ?"

"My na is Eric," I said proudly. "Not Aurora."

"Bullshit," the man—Caspian—said.

And before I could even blink, he pushed back, grabbed by the waist, threw over his shoulder like I weighed five feathers, and started walking out.

Upside down.

On his shoulder.

Like I was a freaking bag of rice.

I scread.

"PUT DOWN, YOU UNKNOWN HANDSO STRANGER!"

"No," Caspian said calmly. "We’re going ho."
