*~Aurora’s POV~*
This Chapter is dedicated to my sweet darling Reader @ MD_Loves_Books... Azeem loves you!
Standing before the altar, the wedding stood still. The doors had burst open monts ago still wide, still swinging and whoever had opened them was nowhere to be seen.
Darius’s grip tightened around my hand. His head snapped toward Rebecca.
"Rebecca, take Aurora out of here. Soone’s trying to ruin our wedding," he commanded, his voice sharp with authority.
As he lifted the protective field surrounding us, George the Demon Lord rose to his feet. The mont he stood, the rest of the demons followed, their energy crackling through the hall.
Rebecca rushed to , clutching my hand. "Aurora, are you ready? We need to go. Now!"
I blinked, staring toward the door. What if it was Hazel? What if it was my people—here for ?
I yanked my hand free from Rebecca’s grip. Her eyes widened in shock.
"Aurora, what are you doing?" she hissed, her tone sharp with panic.
"I’m sorry," I said breathlessly. "I can’t leave. What if it’s them? What if they ca for ?"
Rebecca’s teeth clenched. "Do you seriously want them to take you away now? You’re supposed to be marrying Darius!"
"I’m sorry, Rebecca," I said again, stepping back. "I can’t leave."
And then—soone began walking through the open doors.
The sunlight behind them made it impossible to see their face clearly, just a dark silhouette moving slowly forward. My heart stopped. I knew that walk.
Then the light shifted.
Black hair. Raven eyes.
My breath caught as Leon stepped inside—his clothes torn, his hands dripping with blood. In each hand, he held a severed demon’s head.
The hall erupted into chaos. My eyes went wide, and Darius’s growl echoed beside .
Every demon in the room rose to their feet at once, forming a barrier in front of Leon. He stood tall.. I have never seen Leon in that behavior ever.
"Take her away from here!" Darius roared, gripping my wrist and shoving toward Rebecca.
Rebecca grabbed roughly, trying to drag back, but I fought her.
"No!" I scread. "I said no! I’m not leaving!"
"Leon!" I cried out, my voice echoing through the hall.
His eyes locked on mine..
Two demons lunged at him from the front, but Leon didn’t even flinch. He hurled the severed heads in his hands straight at them. Both demons were struck down instantly, crashing to the ground with sickening thuds.
Then he raised his bloodstained hand and growled, his voice a command that shook the walls:
"Let. Her. Go."
"You really are a brave young wolf," George said with a low, mocking chuckle. "But you’re stupid. You ca here alone—and judging by the atmosphere, you’re the only wolf in this place. Outside these walls, there are thousands of demons waiting. And all in the na of..." He turned his gaze toward . "...love?"
"I said—let her go," Leon growled, his voice echoing across the hall.
Darius smirked, then looked to Rebecca. "What is she doing?"
Rebecca tried to drag back. "Aurora, we have to go!"
Leon’s voice thundered again. "I said let the young woman go!"
The ground trembled. The floor cracked beneath us as hundreds of demons suddenly pounced at him.
"Leon!" I scread, but Rebecca’s grip tightened. She was pulling away as chaos exploded behind us. I couldn’t see him anymore—only the storm of demons surrounding him, claws and shadows and blood in the air. Darius was already charging toward the fight, his growl shaking the walls, while George stood watching it all with a twisted smile.
"Rebecca, please!" I begged as she dragged down the corridor. "Let go! Please!"
She said nothing, just kept pulling until we reached a room at the far end of the hall. She shoved inside and slamd the door shut, locking it behind her.
I threw myself against it, pounding with my fists. "Rebecca, please! Let out! I don’t want to do this wedding! Rebecca, please, you have to let go!"
Her voice ca muffled through the door, trembling but firm. "I can’t, Aurora. You must marry Darius. No one else. Please... I hope you understand."
"No!" I cried, tears burning in my eyes. "I don’t want to marry Darius! I don’t even want to marry Leon! I just— I just want to live my life. I don’t want this! Please, Rebecca, you know what I’m going through. Please!"
There was silence for a mont, then her voice again, quiet and broken.
"I’m sorry, Aurora. But he shouldn’t have co here. They’re going to kill him... and by demon law, his head will be hung from the tree outside. It’s going to be a grueso sight...you don’t need to see that."
I pressed my forehead against the door, shaking my head. "Please, don’t hurt him. Please, Rebecca, do sothing!"
Her voice cracked as she whispered, "I can’t do anything, Aurora. This fate is already marked. You and Darius... you belong to each other."
Please," I whispered, my voice shaking. "I don’t belong to anyone. If anything, I just need to be free. Just let go—and let him go too. I promise, I’ll repay you with kindness. Soday, when you need help... I’ll be there. Please, Rebecca. You have to let go."
Rebecca’s voice trembled on the other side of the door. "I’m sorry, Aurora."
Then... silence.
Her footsteps faded away, leaving standing alone.
From downstairs ca the sounds of chaos, claws tearing, bones breaking, screams echoing through the halls. So of the voices were Leon’s... others were the demons’. My heart twisted painfully in my chest.
No.
Leon can’t die.
He can’t die.
He won’t die.
Tears stread down my face as I pressed my palms against the door, trying to steady my breath. My body was trembling, my mind a storm of fear and guilt.
"Aurora," I whispered to myself. "You can do this. You can do this. You can do this."
I kept repeating it—over and over—until my voice beca a chant... then...a plea, a prayer.
Then I closed my eyes.
"Versa," I breathed.
And the last thing I heard was a large hunger storm that was loud enough and made everywhere quiet.
