Darius.

I do not like the way I felt neither do I appreciate this looming thought that wouldn’t stop making its way to the back of my skull and reminding of the unseen threat that has slowly embedded its way into my mind shortly after finding out that my uncle had sohow weasled his way back into town after returning from the dead.

I also do not like the dark haired vixen lying naked in my bed, sprawled on the soft mattress like she was auditioning for a spot on the Vogue cover... but what I hated the most was this silence.

This overwhelming silence that was so loud it echoed in my ears tauntingly as if silently mocking .

I rolled out of my sheets, my fingers curling around the soft material that whistled quietly as I moved, and even though it was only morning... about two minutes past six, I was already incredibly irritated.

I hissed; "Wake up, sleepy head!"

The vixen whose na I still couldn’t rember stirred in her sleep whilst mumbling sothing incoherent under her breath.

The fact that she seed so comfortable in my bed, so in place despite the fact that I was slowly going mad made suddenly nauseous. And in my annoyance, I grabbed her arm forcefully, shook her violently and hissed;

"I said, WAKE UP!" I yelled, my voice echoing around the room in such a way that the picture fras hung on the wall rattled precariously.

At the sound of my voice, her eyes fluttered open. She gazed at like I had run mad, a flicker of sothing akin to fear crossing her face before she slowly clamped it down.

"Alpha..."

"It’s past six!"

"Yeah, past six..." she mumbled, her voice trailing off quietly, "which ans I still have so more ti to sleep."

"Not in my bed."

The words ca out harsher than I had intended. And it struck straight ho because then she practically reeled. She flinched like she’d been struck, her nostrils flaring as she pulled back slowly, looked straight in the eyes and hissed;

"You can fuck in your bed but I can’t step in it?"

She sounded like she couldn’t quite believe her ears or her eyes. Her tone had taken on that kind of disbelief that I find quite annoying.

I nodded even before I could stop myself, my voice gruff as I hissed; "Yes."

And goddess, I had hoped that that would make her burst with anger. I had hoped that she would be set off. But instead of all of that, she simply rolled out of bed, rose to her feet and slowly began to pick up her discarded clothes one after the other whilst draping them on with the speed of light.

By the ti she was done, she turned to , eyes cold and all as she hissed; "I hope you burn in hell."

I froze.

"And I hope you suffer a worse fate than Alpha Jarek Frostclaw whose funeral is to happen later today."

She wanted her head gone, that I was sure of, because no sane ordinary person would speak to an Alpha in that manner. However, I gave zero fucks about what she wanted. In fact, if there was anything I found interesting, then it was the last part of her sentence...

Sothing about Frostclaw’s funeral.

"Is it the Frostclaw I know or another one?" I asked in awe, not missing the way her eyes widened for a split second.

"The popular Alpha Frostclaw," she snickered in disgust— directed towards and not at him, "... the CEO of the famous Frostclaw. Inc."

As soon as she uttered those words, my heart stopped beating in my chest. A strange kind of energy rushed through my veins and eww, before you think it is as a result of shock... or that I was affected by the news of his death and funeral, then you ought to know that that is not the case.

I was simply stunned beyond my mind.

Simply calculating...

And hades, if today was indeed his funeral then there was no way Leilani won’t be there. And since she has refused to choose despite the many tis I had given her that choice, then I would leave her with no other choice...

Zevran.

Darius was the last person I expected to see here, especially right at the mont when Leilani was speaking passionately at the front of the hall, her croaky voice carrying through the hall and her face contorted into a look of pain.

While people sobbed into their handkerchiefs from listening to her, I didn’t. Instead my eyes wouldn’t leave Darius’ face as he watched her closely, his lips taking on a twisted maniacal smile as he listened to her speak.

His hands also never left Keisha’s arm even until now, and from here, I could see the way her face was slowly turning ashen due to the almighty painful grip he had on her.

"Thank you," that was Leilani’s broken voice, and as it slipped into my ears, snapping back to the present, I turned to my brothers.

"Darius is here." I hissed,

"Here?" Caelum almost scoffed, "where?"

"At the back of the hall." I hissed quietly, "I think he’s waiting for Leilani to finish with her speech."

Just as I had suspected, as soon as Leilani finished and ca over to stand with us, he approached the front of the hall, his strides proud as he picked up the microphone.

"I didn’t get the opportunity to know Alpha Frostclaw on a more personal level," he drawled, his voice so chilly, it made Leilani’s head instinctively whip up. A strange look crowded her features which she imdiately fixed and turned away.

"...But I knew that he was a good man. I an, I saw the way he treated his staff, especially Ms Sinclair. I saw the way he put her first in a lot of situations, and it is for this reason that I have decided to respect his funeral by not shedding blood."

At his words, a lot of people gasped.

I felt my heart take a dip when I noticed to my horror that his hold on Keisha’s arm was tightening, even to the level of drawing blood as his fingernails dug into her skin.

"She murdered him... and in the werewolf community, a killer shall be..." he let his voice trail off so that the crowd could finish the sentence, and when they all chanted the word: "killed!" in unison, I instinctively knew that he wasn’t here to make peace.

If anything, he was here to cause chaos.

Real chaos.
