Unexpectedly running into Zhang Duo, Chen Ningxi responded in her usual tone:

"Here to see a friend."

Zhang Duo said, "This floor is the laboratory; you both must be lost."

"!" Chen Ningxi was a bit startled. Cheng Qiaobei quickly chid in, "Our friend has limited mobility, so we’re here to help pick up a test result."

Zhang Duo received a phone call and said as he walked away, "Ning Xi, the ER needs . Call if you need anything."

Chen Ningxi: "You go ahead."

Once Zhang Duo left, Chen Ningxi looked at Cheng Qiaobei, not wanting others to know her secrets.

Cheng Qiaobei took her hand, "Let’s go for the imaging test."

Chen Ningxi followed Cheng Qiaobei to the radiology departnt. The display screen showed three people waiting before them, so they sat on a bench in the hallway to queue.

Cheng Qiaobei was about to ask if she was thirsty, then rembered the doctor’s instructions to empty her bladder, and looked at Chen Ningxi saying:

"You just had your blood drawn, rest your head on my shoulder for a bit."

Chen Ningxi leaned on his shoulder, anxiously wanting to know her condition. She worriedly complained, "Getting a check-up is so troubleso; it’s lines everywhere."

It was rare for her to show impatience, indicating the pressure the condition was applying.

Cheng Qiaobei took her hand to ease her tension, "Let tell you sothing funny. During their lunch break, Wei Lai and Deng Yan were picking honeymoon destinations. The company has just officially started and needs people, so they could only choose dostic trips.

Deng Yan suggested going to the beach. Zhou Chong chid in, saying that the beach is hot this season. Deng Yan then proposed the Yunnan-Guizhou direction and Zhou Chong said the company had been there before and it wasn’t novel. Deng Yan then talked about the Qinghai-Gansu loop, and Zhou Chong disagreed again.

Anyway, almost drove Deng Yan mad. In the end, cornered by Deng Yan, he asked where Zhou Chong suggested, and Zhou Chong shalessly proposed Beijiang.

Wei Lai looked at pictures of the landscapes and actually got interested; Deng Yan directly took Wei Lai to his office.

The relationship among the trio at that ti was complicated, fearing soone might leave because of emotions."

Chen Ningxi gradually relaxed, distracted by his stories and montarily forgetting her worries, "At that dinner party, I saw you guys had a pretty good atmosphere and got along well."

Cheng Qiaobei said, "Deng Yan’s okay, given Wei Lai’s thoughts are on him, but I was worried Zhou Chong would not take it well."

Chen Ningxi asked, "How did he co to terms later?"

Cheng Qiaobei said, "I talked to him beforehand. Zhou Chong is a valuable asset to the company. Losing him over an emotional matter would be a big loss for both and the company."

Chen Ningxi said, "You think things through comprehensively, always anticipating before problems arise."

"Are you complinting ?" Cheng Qiaobei laughed.

Chen Ningxi gently nudged his shoulder with her head, "Feeling smug, aren’t you?"

As they chatted and laughed, the door to the imaging room opened. A woman who looked just over thirty ca out, clutching her abdon with a pained expression, her face pale as she walked weakly.

"It hurts... so much..." she complained to the man beside her as she passed Chen Ningxi.

Her complaint imdiately cast a heavy mood over those waiting for imaging, including Chen Ningxi.

She pulled out her phone and started searching if hysterosalpingography hurts.

So people shared their personal experiences, so saying it was very painful, others saying it was bearable. Chen Ningxi read a nerve-wracking reply.

[I just had a hysterosalpingography today, cried from the pain, it truly hurt, sister, it’s the kind of pain you can’t handle.]

Cheng Qiaobei had been watching the screen and noticed the reply Chen Ningxi focused on.

Every word there made Cheng Qiaobei want to take her away imdiately.

He took a deep breath, observing the fear she was trying to hide on her face, and hugged her tightly, saying, "Look at the comnts below, so say it doesn’t hurt. This one sounds professional, explaining that when pushing the contrast agent, there might be slight discomfort or mild pain. If you feel uneasy, it’s because during the procedure, different people’s sensitivity might cause tubal spasms or contractions. But if you stay relaxed, this discomfort will diminish or almost be non-existent."

Chen Ningxi was tense, "Hope I’m not sensitive and don’t feel that much pain."

Cheng Qiaobei watched a video explaining the procedure, feeling sorry for her, and said, "How about not doing it? Even seeing it makes ache."

He thought she would back out, but it was Cheng Qiaobei who suggested it.

That instead made the always tense Chen Ningxi laugh out loud, "You’re sothing else, backing out when the country needs you the most."

Before she even finished speaking, her number was called for her and the other three to go in for preparation.

Chen Ningxi instinctively looked at Cheng Qiaobei, gripping his hand, her fear uncontrollable and instinctual.

Cheng Qiaobei squeezed her hand, "Take a deep breath, adjusting your breathing rhythm will help ease your anxiety."

Chen Ningxi stood up, handed her bag to him, and followed the others inside.

"I’m going in."

"Ning Xi, don’t be nervous. If you’re really scared, co back out, and we won’t do it." Cheng Qiaobei held her shoulders with care.

Entering the examination room, Chen Ningxi glanced at the cold tal stretcher, shivering slightly.

She was the last one, and as the previous people went through the procedure, Chen Ningxi held the inford consent form with trepidation, signed it, and the nurse began explaining the process, procedures, and post-operative precautions.

When it was her turn, Chen Ningxi followed the nurse’s instructions to lie on the bed, and the posture was a bit difficult to manage as she had to step on the pedal.

During disinfection, she turned her face away, feeling embarrassed, tightly pursing her lips as she felt the foreign object being inserted. As the contrast agent flowed into her, the first part was bearable, but the latter part beca almost unbearable.

Her teeth clenched audibly, legs trembling with the pain, her whole body tense and shaking, despite the doctor’s reminder to relax, the pain made it impossible to think. Finally, she endured the procedure, climbing off the bed with her clothes soaked in sweat.

anwhile, Cheng Qiaobei was not feeling any better in the hallway, staring intensely at the door until she erged, seeing her appearance and realizing the ordeal she had been through.

He quickly stepped forward to support her, "Was it very painful?"

Chen Ningxi, too pained to speak, just shook her head, "The doctor said, results in two days."

Seeing her struggling to walk, Cheng Qiaobei picked her up and headed towards the elevator.

Chen Ningxi said, "Put down, I can walk."

Cheng Qiaobei was firm, "Don’t move, you’re in so much pain, walking would be out of the question."

All the way, they drew the attention of many, but Cheng Qiaobei didn’t mind, carrying her all the way to the parking lot exit.

"Can you wait here for ?"

"Sure."

He set her down, and as her feet touched the ground, she suddenly felt dizzy and nearly fell, luckily, Cheng Qiaobei held onto her waist swiftly.

Cheng Qiaobei, with a lingering fear, "You’re just trying to scare ."

Chen Ningxi wanted to laugh, but the pain in her body pulled at her lips, "Ugh..."

"Hurting again?" Cheng Qiaobei supported her across most of the parking lot to their car, seated her in the front passenger seat, and covered her with a coat from the back seat.

On the way back, Chen Ningxi said, "During the imaging, I heard the doctor say both sides are blocked."
