Good news ca shortly after Cheng Qiaobei submitted the evidence: Du Fangbin, who frad Chen Weichuan, was taken away by the police. It just so happened that Sun Dongchen witnessed it. He hurried ho, packed his things, and prepared to go abroad to lay low.

Sun saw Sun Dongchen racing upstairs, and called out, "Son-in-law, the food is ready, you..."

Before she could finish, Sun Dongchen strode up to the second floor in three steps.

He entered the walk-in closet, flung open the suitcase, and began stuffing clothes inside in a frenzy. He opened a drawer and pocketed his passport and other docunts, slamd the suitcase shut, and headed out.

The babysitter happened to be carrying the baby out and smiled at him, saying, "Look, Daddy’s ho."

Seeing the child, Sun Dongchen lted inside. He walked over, took the baby in his arms, and stared at the little face. At that mont, he felt imnse regret for ever provoking Cheng Qiaobei, let alone naively trying to trip him up.

But it was now too late to realize all this. Holding the child, his heart was a whirlpool of emotions.

Sun Dongchen gently pressed his cheek against the baby’s, reluctant to let go, before handing the child back to the babysitter. "I have to make a sudden business trip. Remind Siluo tomorrow that the baby needs to get vaccinated."

The babysitter replied, "Sure, I’ll rember."

Sun saw Sun Dongchen carrying his suitcase downstairs and asked suspiciously, "Son-in-law, are you heading out? You haven’t even had lunch yet."

Feigning composure, Sun Dongchen responded, "Skipping it. Sothing urgent just ca up."

He hurried out the door.

On the way, Sun Dongchen called Cheng Siluo.

"Honey, Du Fangbin got arrested. I need to leave the country for a while."

Cheng Siluo was in Zheng Rongxi’s office and abruptly sat up on the sofa. "How do you know this?"

Sun Dongchen replied, "I was about to et him. I saw him being taken away by two officers from outside his house."

Cheng Siluo, not yet sensing trouble, said, "He took the money. He’ll bear all the responsibility for you. Don’t worry."

"Honey," Sun Dongchen reminded her, "if Cheng Qiaobei weren’t involved, he might take it all. But now that Cheng is stirring things up, I can’t guarantee Du Fangbin will hold his ground."

Cheng Siluo’s expression darkened. Cheng Qiaobei, not even wanting ten percent of the shares, was determined to destroy Sun Dongchen.

She asked, "Where are you planning to go?"

Noticing her distressed tone, Zheng Rongxi asked, "What happened? What’s going on?"

Cheng Siluo explained, "Mom, Dongchen said the whistleblower was taken by the police. He’s planning to go abroad now."

Zheng Rongxi opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing, as there seed to be no other option. Seeing her mother didn’t oppose, Cheng Siluo asked again, "Where are you planning to go?"

Sun Dongchen answered, "I just checked the flights. There’s one to Singapore in an hour and a half."

Sothing occurred to Cheng Siluo. "My best friend happens to be there. When you land, have her arrange a place for you to stay. Send your flight information shortly so I can contact her."

"...Alright, honey." Sun Dongchen’s voice choked with emotion. "In critical tis like these, it takes a marriage to stand together. I’ve failed you, honey. I ssed up."

Cheng Siluo said, "Enough, don’t say that now. Just go quickly, and let know you’re safe once you land."

The situation was chaotic. Cheng Siluo could only take it one step at a ti. "Dongchen, let confirm sothing with you again—did you give him cash?"

Sun Dongchen replied, "It was cash. I took precautions and didn’t transfer money."

"Alright." Cheng Siluo was assured. "Did anyone see you give him the money?"

Sun Dongchen responded, "No one. We t at night, outside his house, in my car."

"Were you caught on surveillance?" she asked.

Sun Dongchen scoffed, "His run-down place doesn’t even have caras. They don’t even have property managent anymore—it’s basically an abandoned neighborhood."

Cheng Siluo understood. "As long as no one saw, stick to saying it has nothing to do with you."

Sun Dongchen nodded firmly, "Of course."

After parking in the underground lot, Sun Dongchen retrieved his suitcase from the trunk. Looking around to confirm no one was following, he took the escalator to the terminal to check in.

While exchanging his boarding pass, he nervously rubbed his palms together. When it was finally his turn, he grabbed the ticket and sped to security.

Once past security, Sun Dongchen began to relax. Sitting in the waiting area, he opened WeChat and sent Cheng Siluo his flight number and landing ti.

Lifting his head, he spotted two airport special forces officers walking toward him.

Guilt-ridden, Sun Dongchen felt sure they were coming for him. His heartbeat quickened and beads of sweat ford on his forehead. Instinctively, he raised a hand to his forehead, turning slightly to face the windows, while keeping an eye on the officers closing in with his peripheral vision. Finally, they passed him and went further away. He breathed a sigh of relief.

Cheng Siluo ssaged back, sending a number, and reminded him: Contact her after landing.

Sun Dongchen felt a surge of gratitude.

"Got it, honey," Sun Dongchen replied. "Take care of yourself too. Once the storm passes, I’ll co back."

Cheng Siluo: "The baby and I will be waiting for you."

Neither of them expected the situation to suddenly take a different turn.

"Excuse , are you Sun Dongchen?"

In his field of vision appeared a pair of black leather shoes. When he looked up, he saw a policeman in deep navy blue.

"...Yes," he replied in a trembling voice.

As Sun Dongchen was taken away, he noticed Cheng Qiaobei’s car parked at the terminal exit. Inside, Cheng was leisurely smoking a cigarette. Sun stared at Cheng Qiaobei with pure hatred, grinding his teeth and cursing under his breath.

Cheng Qiaobei smirked, his gaze indifferent and aloof.

Sun Dongchen struggled to break free, attempting to cross the street and confront Cheng Qiaobei, but was firmly restrained by the police and shoved into the car.

The police car was about to drive past. Cheng Qiaobei extended a hand holding the cigarette out of his car window and waved goodbye to Sun Dongchen.

Cheng Qiaobei had once heard a Buddhist layman say that in this lifeti, good and evil have their retribution.

He couldn’t wait for Heaven to deal with Sun Dongchen; he had to act himself.

Sotis, humans triumph over fate.

Cheng Qiaobei stubbed out his cigarette and was about to start his engine when a call from Finance ca through.

"Chairman Cheng, when will you be back at the office? So data needs your review."

Old Fox—they really couldn’t wait for him to go.

Cheng Qiaobei replied, "I’ll be in my office in an hour."

He put down his phone, stepped on the gas, and rged onto the highway.

anwhile, Chen Weichuan stepped out of the shower to find Ye Yujun placing a cup of tea on the table. "Old Chen, freshly brewed tea. The tea leaves were a gift from Cheng."

Chen Weichuan entered the living room, sat on the couch, and ntioned what he’d heard recently about Cheng Qiaobei.

"Qiaobei reported his brother-in-law?"

Ye Yujun nodded. "Yes."

Chen Weichuan sighed silently. "With relatives like this, it’s unlikely they’ll interact again."

Ye Yujun said, "There’s no need to. It’s turned into a feud."

Chen Weichuan suggested, "Invite Qiaobei over for dinner tonight."

Ye Yujun grasped his intent. "Even if you don’t invite them, they’ll co by. They’ve been here every day keeping company since you’ve been away."
