The permissions within a reasonable scope were actually an effective way to supervise them.

"The reward chanism is pragmatic. The people under you truly feel that working with you gives them security and a future." Cheng Qiaobei put down his bowl, took a napkin, and wiped the corner of his mouth. "Today, at the eting, I vetoed Siluo’s project."

Chen Ningxi had just stood up to clear the table but sat back down. "She didn’t start a fight with you, did she?"

Cheng Qiaobei said, "There wasn’t a fight during the eting."

"..." There might have been one afterward.

Chen Ningxi asked, "What was Dad’s attitude?"

Cheng Qiaobei chuckled indifferently. "Him? What attitude could he have? Watching the show."

"He’s like that, not even saying a word in your support." Chen Ningxi held Cheng Qiaobei’s hand, comforting him. "Let’s not bother with her. Don’t get angry."

Cheng Qiaobei smiled and pinched her cheek. "Do I look angry?"

Chen Ningxi said, "Even if you’re not angry, it affects your mood."

"Still, my wife cares." Cheng Qiaobei roughly narrated the events before and after, and the more Chen Ningxi listened, the more her brow furrowed, until Cheng Qiaobei couldn’t bear it anymore. He lifted his hand to smooth her brows, smiling, "No frowning."

Chen Ningxi said, "This ti, you guys have torn each other apart, haven’t you?"

Cheng Qiaobei said nonchalantly, "We ripped apart a long ti ago."

Chen Ningxi was also helpless; their conflict had deep roots from the previous generation and further affected Cheng Qiaobei and Cheng Siluo’s generation. It was hard to maintain a harmonious relationship.

When it ca to profit distribution, those who valued interests heavily felt uncomfortable, like having a grain of sand in the eye.

Cheng Siluo was afraid that Cheng Qiaobei would take away her right to inherit from under her, constantly guarding against him, and even looking for opportunities to suppress him.

Chen Ningxi sighed, saying, "Sigh...I’m tired for you."

Cheng Qiaobei suddenly said, "Should I switch companies?"

Chen Ningxi answered without hesitation, "Sure, move to a job where you’re happy. I’ll support you."

Cheng Qiaobei burst into laughter, "I was joking. You took it seriously."

Chen Ningxi said earnestly, "It’s your choice, you decide. Right or wrong, I’ll support you. As for the results, just do your best; everything else is up to fate."

Cheng Qiaobei looked at her with gentle eyes, "Got it."

...

Lu Xingyan arrived early at the workplace to wait for Chen Ningxi. He had been standing in the office corridor for almost half an hour when he heard footsteps coming from the stairwell.

He kept his eyes on the corner of the stairs as Chen Ningxi stepped up the last step, and their eyes t.

"Here so early," Chen Ningxi asked knowingly.

"Yeah."

Lu Xingyan’s face looked awkward. He was just about to speak when a colleague passing by stopped him.

Chen Ningxi opened the office door, "Sothing up?"

Lu Xingyan looked like he had sothing to say. "There is."

What happened yesterday didn’t need much explanation; let’s leave it as a dignified silence.

Chen Ningxi guided him, "Don’t overthink it. I’m fine. Go get to work."

Her words looked like anger to Lu Xingyan.

He followed her into the office, lowered his voice, and said, "My mom is straightforward and blunt, don’t take it to heart."

"Oh, that matter. You go back and tell your mom I forgot about it until you brought it up. Don’t worry about it."

This ti, playing dumb was still effective.

As Chen Ningxi moved behind her desk, she looked up and saw Lu Xingyan hadn’t left.

"Anything else?" Chen Ningxi asked.

Lu Xingyan apologized, saying, "I hope you won’t transfer out of the maintenance group because of my dad, and my mom, she’s outspoken but one thing she said was right. I do have a stubborn temper, but on key issues, I can distinguish the primary focus, the right and wrong."

Chen Ningxi smiled faintly, "It’s not that serious, don’t overthink it."

Before leaving, Lu Xingyan pulled a bag of energy bars from his pocket and placed it on her desk, "Whenever you have ti, co to the gym. I can coach you on weightlifting."

Chen Ningxi politely declined, "I’m afraid I won’t have ti lately. The unit is organizing a big drill and those under forty will be sent to the ’battlefield’."

Lu Xingyan said with determination, "I’ll be there whenever you have ti."

Even if Chen Ningxi had the ti now, she wouldn’t work out with a male colleague. It would be inappropriate for familiar people to see.

Chen Ningxi handed over the work of publicizing and collecting competition projects to Dong Wei.

This person was efficient. Before clocking out, he sent her a list of collected projects. Chen Ningxi looked at the eleven competition projects and realized they were all real issues that technical staff encountered during work; these projects needed a more systematic handling thod and operational procedures. Many high-difficulty operations are occasionally encountered in life and do indeed occur.

The big drill was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon this week. The location was Donggou, chosen because the list included technical operations related to wind power projects and high-altitude hazardous environntal conditions.

It was rare to have Tuesday afternoon free. Comrades from Danjiang Power under forty gathered at the unit’s entrance to be taken to the Donggou project team by a shuttle bus.

Chen Ningxi sat by the window in the third row, next to a female operations staff mber Wang Qing, while Lu Xingyan accompanied his ntor and sat behind the two. Lu Xingyan pre-selected the seats.

Throughout the journey, Lu Xingyan took out lots of snacks from his backpack to share with everyone, including those in front, like Chen Ningxi.

"Manager Chen, Wang, here you go."

Lu Xingyan’s voice ca from behind, and she turned to see him leaning over the seatback, handing over two bags of snacks.

Chen Ningxi said, "Thanks, but I’ve already been nibbling throughout the ride."

Wang Qing laughed, "Then give them all to ."

Lu Xingyan chuckled, "Sure, they’re all yours. I have chocolate, too."

He lowered his head and rummaged through the bag again, handing it to Wang Qing.

Wang Qing was three years older than Lu Xingyan, and she looked pretty. The two were even playing gas together on the bus.

There were quite a few people at work pursuing Wang Qing and many introducing her to potential partners, but she hadn’t shown interest in anyone.

However, throughout this ride, Chen Ningxi felt they were quite suitable for each other.

The bus made a stop at a service area, and people got off to use the restroom. So had a smoke.

When Chen Ningxi ca out of the restroom, she took a tissue from her bag to wipe her hands and said to Wang Qing, who followed her out, "Why don’t I switch seats with Lu so you two can play gas?"

Wang Qing didn’t say anything, but her eyes remained smiling, "Is that okay, Manager Chen?"

Chen Ningxi said, "Why not? I’ll sit at the back when I get on the bus."

Wang Qing smiled with pursed lips, "Alright then."

When Lu Xingyan boarded the bus, he saw Chen Ningxi sitting in his seat, just about to speak, when Chen Ningxi pointed to the empty seat in front, saying, "Lu, take my seat. I need to have a few words with your ntor."

Lu Xingyan nodded, "Oh, alright."

Wang Qing stood up and asked him, "Are you sitting inside or outside?"

Lu Xingyan felt the exchange was temporary and preferred to sit on the outside to avoid hassle, "I’ll sit outside."
