Danjiang Power Company.
Chen Ningxi was looking over the information on the submarine cable project when the office door was knocked from outside. Without raising her head, she responded,
"Co in."
Lei Dechang pushed the door open and entered, "Manager Chen, this is the university graduate we recruited this year."
Chen Ningxi looked up and was taken aback, "...You."
Lei Dechang, "You know each other?"
Lu Xingyan smiled, "I’ve t Manager Chen a few tis."
The young man was sharp enough not to ntion the gym, but Chen Ningxi had nothing to hide, saying, "I saw him when I was working out."
Lei Dechang understood, "I see. Let introduce him to you, Lu Xingyan, major in Electrical Engineering from Danjiang University. This is Manager Chen from our Danjiang Power."
Lu Xingyan smiled, "Hello, Manager Chen."
Chen Ningxi, "Hello, Lu."
Lei Dechang asked, "Where is he temporarily assigned?"
Chen Ningxi said, "We were short of people for operations and maintenance this recruitnt year."
Lei Dechang hesitated for a mont and smiled, "Alright. Lu, head to operations and maintenance on the second floor, third office on the left after the stairs, and wait for there for a bit."
Lu Xingyan, "Okay."
As soon as he went out, Lei Dechang closed the door and lowered his voice, "Manager Chen, Lu Xingyan is Lu Mingxuan’s son. Assigning him to a basic position at our institute might not be great."
"Manager Lu?"
Chen Ningxi frowned. Lu Mingxuan was the newly appointed manager of the Northeast branch, and he was also in charge of Danjiang Power.
Was this an attempt to bring soone in through connections just to idle away?
The current position had a one-for-one situation. Since the previous maintenance master retired, a vacancy existed, urgently needing a technical person to fill in. If he was just here to pretend and thought it was a retirent life, he could only be sent back.
Chen Ningxi wondered, "Why send his son to us?"
Among several power supply subunits in the province, Danjiang Power’s workload and intensity were not low. If he wanted to slack off, other sub-units could be chosen instead.
Lei Dechang said mysteriously, "This wasn’t Lu Mingxuan’s fault. The kid made up his mind and didn’t let his dad greet us."
"..." Chen Ningxi almost laughed.
There was no way Lu Mingxuan didn’t know his son was assigned to the Danjiang Institute. Such words were re excuses.
Chen Ningxi pondered for a mont and decided to probe Lu Mingxuan’s attitude.
She said, "Alright. Let him patrol the lines with Master Wu for a few days. The intensity won’t be too high. If he can’t handle even this, he’ll naturally go to Lu Mingxuan to request a transfer."
Lei Dechang asked, "But what if he doesn’t ask for a transfer and only wants a different position?"
Though Chen Ningxi was troubled, maintenance personnel were needed, "If he can’t handle it, why stay? We requested maintenance personnel through applications. If they send soone who can’t work, I’ll handle this personally."
Lei Dechang considered it, nodding, "That’s the only way."
During lunchti, Chen Ningxi ran into Lu Xingyan on the way to the cafeteria.
"Manager Chen."
The voice called from behind. Chen Ningxi stopped and was about to turn her head when Lu Xingyan had already caught up, looking cheerful and getting along well with everyone.
In her leadership role, Chen Ningxi inquired, "You’re familiar with everyone in your departnt, right?"
Lu Xingyan smiled, "Totally. The uncles and grandpas are all very kind, especially my master. He looks easy to get along with and is quite honest."
Walking, Chen Ningxi said, "Master Wu is patient and highly skilled. With him guiding you, you’ll learn a lot that isn’t taught in school."
Lu Xingyan smiled broadly, "I can tell. Thank you."
Chen Ningxi looked at him, "Why thank ?"
Lu Xingyan said, "For finding such a great master, I definitely need to thank you."
"Heh." Chen Ningxi laughed lightly.
In fact, no matter who was assigned this ti, Chen Ningxi intended to let Master Wu guide them.
The two entered the cafeteria one after the other. Perhaps because they had t before and considering Lu Xingyan had just entered the workplace, he followed closely behind Chen Ningxi and said, "This is my first ti here, let learn the cafeteria routine from you."
Watching ahead, Chen Ningxi said, "Take your tray and utensils here, then go ahead and get your food. The unit provides four dishes and one soup daily, standard als."
Lu Xingyan laughed, "Feels like I’m back in my college cafeteria."
When it was Lu Xingyan’s turn, he got his al and eagerly went to sit at Chen Ningxi’s table.
Actually, in so important units’ cafeterias, there was an unspoken dining seating habit.
The front area was for leadership to sit, and so leaders had their preferred spots, aning others would usually avoid those areas.
However, Chen Ningxi wasn’t particular about that, and everyone could sit anywhere, but usually, those sitting directly across from her were part of the leadership team.
At that mont, just as Lei Dechang was about to head over with his tray towards Chen Ningxi, in the next second, Lu Xingyan set down his tray and happily sat opposite Chen Ningxi.
"The als here are pretty good." Lu Xingyan said familiarly, "Hmm...these taste quite good."
Chen Ningxi chewed her food and just smiled faintly.
No matter how familiar they had beco at the gym previously, now they were at the company. They not only had a superior-subordinate relationship but also gender differences. Being this casual wasn’t suitable in front of other colleagues.
During the peak dining period in the cafeteria, everyone saw Lu Xingyan sitting opposite Chen Ningxi.
The young man was bright and handso, quite eye-catching.
Chen Ningxi quickly finished her al and left with her tray, "Take your ti eating."
Lu Xingyan asked, "Where to put the tray?"
Chen Ningxi, "There."
Just as she left the cafeteria, the phone in her pocket rang.
Seeing the caller was Cheng Qiaobei, she put it to her ear, "Are you on break too?"
Cheng Qiaobei had just walked out of the elevator, "Hmm, did you have lunch yet?"
"Just finished, ate in the cafeteria." So colleagues passed by, nodding at Chen Ningxi, and she nodded back.
Cheng Qiaobei said, "Thought to invite you for lunch, but ended up calling late. Should have notified you earlier."
Chen Ningxi teased, "Manager Cheng, you don’t seem sincere. If you really wanted to invite to lunch, you wouldn’t call at this ti."
Cheng Qiaobei was embarrassed, "How am I not sincere? Sothing ca up, and by the ti I saw it, it was already too late."
At that mont, another call for Manager Chen stopped Chen Ningxi in her tracks.
Holding the phone, she saw Lu Xingyan run up, saying, "I saw books on submarine cables on your shelf this morning. Can I borrow it?"
She happened to finish that book, "Are you interested too?"
Knowledge glimred in Lu Xingyan’s eyes, "I believe in the future, cable transmission will hold a significant share."
Chen Ningxi, "...Alright, go get it. My office door isn’t locked."
Facing the sunlight, Lu Xingyan’s mouth curled into a bright smile, "Thanks."
He turned and cheerfully dashed into the office building, which allowed Chen Ningxi to return her attention to the phone, "Where do you plan to eat?"
Cheng Qiaobei, "No destination yet. That’s why I called you."
Chen Ningxi said, "How about coming to the restaurant at my unit’s entrance?"
