#100 – I’m not the only one not being able to handle the truth, right?
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!” I scread as I hurled through the air.
I regretted absolutely everything.
Becoming a Vcuber, sohow attracting the attention of the Fate Weaver to be isekai’d, exploring these dungeons, walking up this dumb locker…
And especially tossing myself off without properly thinking about it because now I was flipping over myself and it was disorienting and I had no idea how close I was to the ground and oh god I was going to go fucking splat.
Luckily, chat reminded that I could use Featherfall, which I did.
It didn’t stop the flipping, but it did slow down the fall enough for to sowhat get my bearings. From then on, I did my best to flail my limbs against the direction of the spinning – as chat suggested – and it gradually helped slow down.
“Gah! Chat, please slap , because I’m a complete idiot!” I yelled as I finally managed to more or less stop flipping.
Then I looked below myself again and thought I would faint.
I was still so damn high up, god…
And I would have to keep looking down, to make sure I tid this well and didn’t turn into a pancake.
God dammit.
Before I could second guess myself, I turned off Featherfall, and then I was back to plumting to my death.
I grit my teeth to prevent myself from screaming again even as my eyes watered from the intense winds whipping in the face.
There were several people in the comnts screaming ‘now!’ or ‘not yet!’ but for once, I told my forks to not forward anything from chat until this was over and really focused on timing it correctly.
But I was still internally panicking, so I activated it way too early. It would probably take another hour to land if I were to continue Feather Falling from here.
So I let go and let gravity drag down at breakneck speeds again.
Then I activated Featherfall again.
This ti, I was much closer. Comparable to the fall I’d experienced coming up to the final boss of this dungeon.
This was much better, so I simply relaxed and let myself fall all the way.
Once my feet finally landed and I breathed out a sigh of relief and automatically fell on my butt.
“God, chat… This was terrible. Never again. From now on, if I get distracted by so random detour, stop and tell to get back on track,” I declared while allowing my forks to feed chat’s comnts again.
RetconRanger: Sure.
SpoOo0oOon: gosh that was terrifying
bloopbooper: bloop… (๑﹏๑//)
Jeofffff: but then you wont get stuff like that pillow
I groaned.
“I hate that you’re right, Jeoff… Dammit, this stupid world is like a gambler’s dream isn’t it? If you risk your life, you get all the cool things…”
And when you lost the gamble, you spent sleeping out in the rain while sick and poisoned.
I shook my head and sighed again, waiting for my beating heart to calm the heck down.
“Okay! Enough of that! We have a dungeon to speedrun! No more distractions!” I yelled out to hype myself up and stood up again.
Jeofffff: btw u didnt use the ticket
“Ticket? Oh yeah! The twenty-five percent boost one!”
I imdiately reached into my backpack and pulled it out. But just as I was about to use it, an old thought occurred to .
“Actually, I’m gonna use it later,” I said and put it back. “If y'all's theory is right, then I’m getting more Ether and Intra overti, so it’s better to use it when I have more of it since it’s percentage based, right?”
After all, there was a ti when I could only fire the water gun a couple of tis before running out, but these days, I could keep firing it without a problem.
…Well, if it wasn’t broken, at least.
Jeofffff: oh yeah true
Jeofffff: save it for just before the city
KaiEbikoOfficial: btw george has been dming to tell you to unmute him
I nodded and then narrowed my eyes.
“George can stay muted for a while. It will do him good, I think.”
KaiEbikoOfficial: agreed
KaiEbikoOfficial: you hear that George?
KaiEbikoOfficial: leave alone
I snorted and pulled out my map again to study it. Then I blinked and rembered that I was right next to the little screen already and didn’t need to go anywhere yet.
“Uh, right. Ti for another very loud experience, chat. Make sure to lower the volu,” I mumbled as I quickly found the screen again and walked up to it.
I grimaced, but raised my arm with the bracelet to it anyway to start the countdown again.
From then on, the dungeon proceeded pretty much identically to the last ti I’d been here. The only real difference was that the first and second locker space warping shenanigans were swapped for so reason… and also that I hadn’t attacked any of the monsters in those lockers, of course.
The third one still ended up with hyper jumping upwards into the sauna room thing though. This ti, however, I was ready for it, and managed to catch myself with Featherfall to carefully land next to the fallen locker I’d jumped out of.
The mont I did, the door slamd open and in walked the giant covered in layers of clothing.
I briefly noted that there was another room I hadn’t seen before where he’d co from, which probably ant another secret room if I could get in there before it closed – similar to the first floor in the city dungeon? – but other than that, I ignored it. After all, I didn’t want to get distracted again.
Just as he began charging at , I poured Ether into my Key Sword and then tossed it right at him.
The explosion of crystal in his non-face was glorious. It made him stumble before he began to claw away at the crystals covering him. That gave plenty of ti to pull out my pan, ignite it, and then toss all the fire in his direction.
The wave of fire crashed into him and ignited all the clothes on him. He imdiately began to shed all of them to get rid of the fire, but I was already running at him with my resummoned Key Sword, black fire blazing and ready to cut through him.
Unfortunately, one of those articles he was shedding flew in my direction and I had to stop and dodge to not get smothered again. That gave the giant enough ti to recover and throw a punch at as the last pieces of clothing fell from him.
But he was too slow. At this point, I was used to much much faster opponents, thanks to the archer, the ninja, the octopus…
I had no problem sidestepping his giant fist as it smashed against the floor before turning that motion into another attempted swing of my Key Sword aid at his elbow.
The black fire-powered key-shaped sword sliced it right off.
It didn’t seem to bother the giant much though, as he simply wound up his other arm to punch .
This ti, I had to jump back to dodge. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the muffler behind that imdiately snaked around my foot and tripped as I stepped on it.
“Shi–”
I fell on my back and suddenly I was being mobbed by clothes of all kinds. I grit my teeth and waved my Key Sword around, hoping to cut them and free myself.
Unfortunately, although I managed to cut a few of them, I was still completely restrained.
Then, of course, chat reminded that I was being an idiot.
I activated Immolate on everything touching – excluding my clothes and sword – and watched as the articles recoiled and fell away from .
The shirt uncoiled from my eyes just in ti for to witness the giant fist falling down straight on my abdon with a crash and knocking the wind out of . Luckily, I was a freaking tank, so I didn’t get smashed into a bloody puddle, but it definitely wasn’t pleasant.
And it didn’t help that my head was starting to spin from the intense heat of this damn sauna room. I had been using fire a bit too much again.
Still, I recovered fast enough to reach out with my hands and grab the giant fist before activating Immolate once more.
The giant recoiled, lifting the fist off of , and I quickly scrambled to stand up again.
The articles of clothing around were still moving, but were clearly crippled by the intense heat I’d subjected them to.
The giant, on the other hand, was already charging at again, just as I resummoned my Key Sword and lit it on fire.
He was way too slow though.
I easily dodged his charge, slipped under his guard, and slashed at his torso, and easily sliced him in half thanks to the black fire.
The giant then crumpled and soon turned into orange smoke, just like the rest of the clothing he had shed.
Weird. Were those like a part of him or sothing?
Well, whatever.
I sighed in relief as the adrenaline slowly drained from and looked at the chest he’d left behind, my brow sweaty, and my head still a bit light from the heat.
Obviously, I needed to check for mimics since Jeoff was in chat, but instead of attacking it, I decided on a whim to do sothing completely different.
I crossed my arms, narrowed my eyes at the chest, and then said, “Yo’ momma’s so fat, they had to cut down an entire rainforest to have enough wood to make her.”
The chest did not react.
Jeofffff: …
KaiEbikoOfficial: nana are you okay?
I humd.
“There’s no way a living being wouldn’t be outraged at that. Guess this is not a mimic, chat,” I said, trying to explain what I’d just done.
I ignored chat wondering whether I hit my head or sothing.
I blad the lightheadedness.
Anyway, with that sorted, I walked up to the chest, opened it, and took a look inside.
There was a cloak, a familiar sports drink-like bottle, and a small pile of marble-sized objects.
I took a quick look at the bottle first just to confirm that it was indeed what I thought it was.
Bottle of Tempor juice
A bottle of nutritious Miakola juice infused with Tempor.
I nodded to myself.
So far, it seed like every boss had a guaranteed drop. Octopus at from the octopus, coins from the coins, and the drink from the giant. I was probably going to get more shark at or feathers from the final boss, at this rate.
I appraised the little marbles.
Tsunami grenade
A grenade, which will break after a set amount of ti when fed Ether. Upon breaking, it will release a large amount of water that will vanish after several seconds.
I blinked.
“Well, that’s… interesting. Could be useful I guess…”
I already had the bubble glove… and when I fixed my gun, I would also have that, but I wouldn’t say no to more options.
I grabbed one of them, looked it over, and prodded it a bit with my Ether. Once I was fairly sure I knew how it worked, I fed it Ether in what I assud was the correct way, and then chucked it away from .
Just as advertised, the small marble suddenly burst into way too much water that couldn’t have possibly fit inside. In fact, that was probably about ten water gun’s shots worth of water.
But just as suddenly as the water appeared, once it all finished falling to the floor, the water all mysteriously disappeared, as if it had never even been there.
I nodded.
“Neat.”
That could co in handy if I needed a quick distraction or even sothing to Aquaport into.
With that, I stuffed all the grenades into my backpack and finally looked at the last item – the dark blue cloak.
Hydroveil
A veil, which allows the user to absorb and produce water with the use of Tempor.
“Produce water…? Ugh, but it’s with Tempor again, dangit.”
Regardless, I imdiately grabbed the thing and pulled it around myself. It reached all the way to my ankles and the hood part was large enough that I could now successfully cosplay as a stereotypical ‘suspicious hooded person’.
Neat.
It also felt incredibly light despite its size and I couldn’t help but wonder whether there were so spaceti shenanigans going on reducing its weight as well.
“So, how do I make water…?” I mumbled and tried to focus my magical senses on the thing.
I ca up blank though.
I grunted in annoyance, but didn’t want to be deterred just yet. So with so suggestions from chat, I grabbed the Truth-seeing Goggles from my backpack and put them on.
But mMaybe I should have tested this sooner, because wow, what the hell?
There was a… a complex green cobweb of… sothing all around .
I imdiately looked left and right, and sure enough, it was everywhere.
The heck was this?
I pulled my head back slightly while tilting it in confusion… and that was when I noticed that the cobwebs moved as I did.
I froze and then slowly looked down on my arm.
The cobwebs were perating my arm.
I felt a chill go down my spine.
There was sothing normally invisible attached to my body and stretched out of it into my surroundings. What the fuck?
And then I realized that it made sense. These goggles were supposed to be able to see these three energies and I definitely had all three of them, since I could use skills that used them. I just hadn’t expected… this.
SpoOo0oOon: oh no
SpoOo0oOon: thats so creepy
Jeofffff: whoa wtf
I tried moving around a little bit more while looking down on myself, and sure enough, when I moved, these cobwebs inside seed to montarily thicken just a tad. I tried waving my hand through the cobwebs extending from , but my hand passed through it like it was water, barely even making the cobwebs shake.
“Is this… Ether?” I asked out loud. “Or Intra? Tempor?”
Jeofffff: u can switch it right?
“...Right, I can. How do I…”
It was easier than I thought it would be. There were three little spots in the goggles that seed to be accepting Intra. Right now, only one of them seed to be active.
With a bit of difficulty, I managed to deactivate it and suddenly, I couldn’t see the cobwebs anymore, making a bit relieved to be honest. A bit more fiddling later and I managed to activate one of the other two spots with my Intra.
Suddenly, everything was orange.
There was a haze of orange all around – was that the steam? – concentrated in the chest in front of , and looking down, I could see my own body practically radiating orange light.
“...I think this is Ether, chat.”
I liked how it was actually contained in my body, rather than being attached to the space around like the last thing. Well, sure, there was the orange fog around , but from the way it moved, I could tell that it wasn’t really connected to like the green cobwebs were.
“Alright, let’s check out the last one.”
I turned off Ether-vision and turned on the last one, which I still wasn’t sure whether it was Intra or Tempor.
What I saw made completely freeze in place.
