Bok Taejin ignored him and simply stared into the fire, letting its warmth seep into him.

Suddenly, the image of the giant turtle surfaced in his mind again and again, yet every ti he tried to make out the patterns on its shell, his vision blurred.

By the ti he finally gave up, Im Beomhyeon had already filled an entire bucket with fish, and two larger ones were now roasting over the fire.

Bok Taejin was astonished.

Im Beomhyeon grinned smugly. "Don't be fooled by how many big fish are in the lake—these guys are smart! If we're talking about the best fisherman in the village, that's definitely . Anyone else would have taken much longer to catch this many. You're lucky today! If we hadn't skipped lunch, I wouldn't have bothered coming here."

As he spoke, he carefully turned the fish over, the rich aroma slowly filling the air.

Bok Taejin hadn't eaten much of the dried at earlier.

He'd also done a lot of work and walked a long way, so the sll of roasting fish made his stomach growl uncontrollably.

He could only rub his belly and wait.

Fortunately, one of the fish was smaller and cooked faster.

Im Beomhyeon handed it to him, and he didn't hesitate, tearing into it imdiately.

The fish had only a central spine with large bones and no annoying tiny ones, making it easy to eat.

Its flesh was tender and fatty, without any unpleasant fishy taste—fresh and delicious.

Roasting it over an open fire probably wasn't the best way to prepare this type of fish, but it still tasted amazing.

Bok Taejin realized that he had learned to wolf down his food like a starving man...

Back in the village, Im Beomhyeon dumped the bucket of fish at the communal kitchen and left without a care while dragging Bok Taejin along to wander around the village.

From ti to ti, he would point things out—praising one woman's beauty, admiring another's skill in sewing clothes...

After a while, Bok Taejin's expression turned strange. "What about their husbands?"

There were about twenty to thirty households in the village, with around a hundred people.

So were single n, but it was impossible that only a few won stood out enough for Im Beomhyeon to rember.

And yet, he hadn't ntioned a single man.

Im Beomhyeon hemd and hawed for a mont before finally replying, "Husbands? Hah! How many n in this village could beat in a fight? They're not even worth ntioning!"

While that might have been true, hearing it from Im Beomhyeon himself made Bok Taejin doubt the credibility of the statent.

Take Seo Sowoo, for example.

He looked to be at least twenty, and Im Beomhyeon was clearly older than him.

If they were in Bok Taejin's previous life, Im Beomhyeon would have been considered an aging bachelor.

In this era, he was just a lonely single man.

Listening to Im Beomhyeon talk about how capable other n's wives were at managing their households, Bok Taejin couldn't help but conclude that this was just the envy, jealousy, and bitterness of a single man speaking.
