"Want to give this a try?" Han Qiwu said with a smile as he looked at Tang Jing. He stood up, cut a small piece from the second half of ’Starry Night,’ and handed it to Tang Jing.

"Describe the taste of this thing to first," Tang Jing said, eyeing the piece of pie on the plate, feeling it was a bit odd.

"Just eat it, and you’ll find out." Han Qiwu cut himself a small piece as well, placed it in a bowl, and following the earlier thod, he deliberately set it upright, biting into it like a stuffed pita.

The outer layer was crisp pastry, enclosing mashed potatoes with a hint of milky flavor and soft sardine mince. As you ate, the taste of the fish and the aroma of the potatoes layered upon one another, giving the eater a sensation akin to the vastness of the universe.

’Starry Night,’ truly exquisite!

Beside him, Tang Jing’s eyes lit up as he ate. "This thing tastes pretty good. It’s my first ti eating fish like this. Honestly, kid, where did you learn to cook like this? New Oriental Culinary School?"

"Cough, cough, haven’t you ever heard of the story of being self-taught?" Han Qiwu replied with a perfectly straight face.

Tang Jing chuckled, stood up, and cut another piece of ’Starry Night’ to place in his bowl. "Alright, alright, I’ll just assu you knew how to cook the mont you were born."

Seeing Tang Jing enjoying himself, Han Qiwu seized the mont to ask directly, "Brother Jing, I’ve almost mastered Fisherman Secret Technique One from last ti, but I still can’t turn it into instinct."

"That’s normal. You’ve only been practicing for how long? And you’re saying you’ve almost mastered it? Show ." Tang Jing laughed. He rembered that it took him two years to master Secret Technique One back in the day, and even now he hadn’t managed to turn it into instinct.

Overcoming instinct isn’t so simple.

Taking advantage of the Buff that hadn’t worn off yet, Han Qiwu stood by the courtyard wall, bent down, and cast the fishing rod in one fluid motion!

After a morning of practice, Han Qiwu was gradually blending ’Rising Sun’ into Fisherman Secret Technique One. He could feel that his mastery of the secret technique had deepened.

Hmm, perhaps it’s already at the third level now.

"This kid’s movents are very skillful, even his footing—why is it so steady?" Tang Jing paused, mid-bite.

Standing on a wall to cast a rod was far harder than casting on the ground.

Let alone standing on a wall and using Fisherman Secret Technique One—that was on another level of difficulty.

"Brother Jing, do you think my practice is terrible?" Han Qiwu jumped down from the wall, reeling in his fishing rod as he asked.

"Hmm... You still exert too much force. You need to understand the principle of moderation. But your form is already pretty good. Practice for another month—no, half a month—and then I’ll teach you the next move." Tang Jing sure wouldn’t give this kid too much praise upfront.

Young folks need to be polished more.

"Alright, I’ve spent the whole morning trying to cast the hook close to the fish’s mouth. Out of ten tries, I can only succeed once or twice. I definitely need more practice," Han Qiwu nodded in agreent, acknowledging his issue with exerting force.

Hearing this, Tang Jing suddenly felt the pie in his mouth didn’t taste as good anymore.

Who’s really the person who grew up by the ocean?

How did this kid even co up with practicing such a thing?

And only succeeding once or twice out of ten attempts?

"Old Huang is organizing a sea fishing competition here in March, with very generous rewards. You should give it a shot," Tang Jing decided it was ti to let this kid know about the bigger fish in the sea.

"Old Huang? Is he really the president of the Fishing Association?" Han Qiwu’s interest was piqued by the ntion of generous rewards.

If he could get himself a new fishing rod, that would be great.

"He is, but most of his skills are in organizing. He’s not much of a fisherman himself." Tang Jing shook his head. "Are you joining? If you are, let know during registration, and I’ll sign you up directly."

"I’ll decide when registration rolls around," Han Qiwu said while eating. Whether he participated or not depended on whether the competition could be classified as a special event. If it wasn’t, joining would be a waste of ti.

"Fine," Tang Jing said, slightly disappointed. Why couldn’t this kid get with the program?

No matter, he’d find a way to get his niece to persuade him.

Surely he’d listen to his ntor.

Eating without a clue, Han Qiwu had no idea Tang Jing was already making plans for him.

About ten minutes later, after finishing his al, Han Qiwu finally saw the system notification.

[You consud ’Starry Night,’ Fishing Level 2]

[More careers available upon leveling up]

Career Specialization Notes:

[When leveling up Fishing through cuisine, you can still select a career specialization, but the specialization duration matches the dish effect, and each dish is limited to once per week]

[When leveling up Fishing through cuisine, the chosen career specialization won’t be solidified, allowing you to select specialization each ti you reach that level again]

[Under normal circumstances, once a career specialization is solidified, it cannot be reselected]

Seeing the flood of notifications, Han Qiwu got up and went to the bathroom for a proper look.

"So at Level 5, I can even choose a career, complete with specializations and skills." Comparing Fisherman and Trapper stats, Han Qiwu quickly made his choice.

He chose Novice Fisherman.

Fisherman’s effect of increasing fish prices was most suitable for Han Qiwu’s current lack-of-money situation, and Fisherman also ca with Lightning Technique—a skill to temporarily stun fish, making it easier to fish up treasure chests.

As for Novice Trapper, its specialization effect was better suited for mass-crafting crab traps, and its skill saved bait. Neither was useful for Han Qiwu at the mont.

After carefully reading the notes, Han Qiwu felt a surge of delight. According to the notes, every ti he leveled up to Level 5 through cuisine, he could reselect his specialization. This ant he could use various level-up dishes to preview each career specialization and skill effect in advance.

Next ti he ate ’Starry Night,’ he’d prepare enough materials beforehand and use the Trapper specialization to make more crab traps.

Perfect!

[You chose the career: Novice Fisherman]

[You acquired specialization—Fisherman’s Keen Sense]

[You acquired career skill: Novice Lightning Technique]

Upon hearing the system notifications, Han Qiwu suddenly rembered he seed to have a career compatibility potion.

"So normally you can only choose one specialization, but if I use the potion, can I choose two? Would there be any side effects?" Han Qiwu wondered internally. The exact effects would have to wait till next ti to verify. When he got the potion, he hadn’t seen the description, and now it wasn’t on hand.

Exiting the bathroom, Han Qiwu gave Brother Jing a heads-up before heading to the seaside to fish.
