After stepping out of the greenhouse do, Han Qiwu was just about to take a break when the phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
Answering the call, he saw it was Tang Qingying.
"The project failed. Are you ho?" Tang Qingying’s voice was full of disappointnt.
Han Qiwu paused for a mont—he wasn’t particularly good at comforting people. "Yeah, I’m ho. Are you hungry? Want sothing tasty? How about spicy boiled fish?"
Tang Qingying, who had been feeling rather upset, reflexively swallowed after hearing those three words, "spicy boiled fish." She glanced at the ti and said, "Do you have an extra room? I’ll drive over now."
"I do. Drive safely if you’re coming at night." Han Qiwu hesitated briefly before nodding and replying.
"Alright, I’ll head over then!" Tang Qingying didn’t waste ti; as soon as the call ended, she changed her clothes and drove off toward Han Qiwu’s ho.
Putting down his phone, Han Qiwu glanced at Little Electric, who was still trying to impress a prospective mate. Smiling, he reminded, "The lady boss is coming over soon. You all better behave yourselves."
"Chirp chirp!"
Little Electric squawked in reply, lazily flapping its wings, signaling Han Qiwu to stop interfering with its romantic endeavors.
On the other hand, Little Lei obediently nodded, flew to the vegetable patch, and began using the electricity between its wings to enrich the soil.
Seeing this, Little Electric had no choice but to begrudgingly follow along and help with fertilization.
"Feeding it the Heart of Thunder was definitely the right move," Han Qiwu said with satisfaction, heading into the kitchen to start preparing spicy lightning fish.
People—once it gets late at night, they just crave greasy, spicy food.
An hour or so later, a car horn sounded at the door. Han Qiwu called out, then ran toward the entrance while activating the camouflage function with a wave of his hand.
"Hurry over! I bought two giant waterlons. Later, we can eat them while admiring the moon!" Tang Qingying opened the trunk and called to Han Qiwu.
When Han Qiwu ca over to check, wow, the waterlons were enormous—definitely too much to finish in one sitting.
Cuddling the waterlons, Han Qiwu led Tang Qingying to the courtyard.
Once they entered, the unique spicy aroma of the boiled fish reached Tang Qingying’s nose. Her eyes lit up instantly, and she rushed to take a deep breath of the scent.
"Ah, it slls amazing!"
"It tastes even better. Go wash your hands and eat; I’ll go slice the waterlon," Han Qiwu said with a smile.
"Okay." Tang Qingying quickly washed her hands, sat down, and first picked up a big piece of fish and placed it on Han Qiwu’s plate, saying cheerfully, "Thanks, Chef!"
Han Qiwu suddenly felt warm inside, raising his glass of chilled tree sap and replying, "It’s no trouble—serving my wife is my pleasure!"
"Hmph!" Tang Qingying mocked playfully but didn’t refute. She lowered her head and picked up a bite of fish for herself, quickly working up a sweat from the spice.
Once she imrsed herself in eating, her mood improved considerably. She explained to Han Qiwu, "This morning, my granduncle told the global food shortage situation is worsening. The climate near the equator is especially abnormal, and so places are experiencing total crop failure. Although the national reserves have grain, if a true crisis hits, we must find solutions."
"Is there any lead so far?" Han Qiwu asked, frowning.
Tang Qingying shook her head. "Granduncle said climate issues are part of it, but his team collected soil samples across various dostic locations and found trace elent levels are declining. They don’t know why yet, but it’s a possible research direction. The rice we were working on had excellent traits for resisting harsh conditions, but the gene sequencing failed. Now we’ll have to shift gears and start anew—that’ll take at least another six months."
Han Qiwu sighed, his gaze subconsciously drifting toward the rice plants.
He wondered whether unlocking the gene-editing feature for the rice might yield a suitable gene combination.
"Do you have any alcohol here? Such good food deserves so drinks, or it’s a waste." Tang Qingying suddenly shifted the topic.
From her expression, Han Qiwu could sense the pain she was hiding—ntioning good food was just an excuse; what she really wanted was the alcohol.
"I do. Hold on, I’ll grab so for you." Han Qiwu went to the kitchen and brought out a bottle of wine he had stored with Egger, returning to the table to join Tang Qingying for drink after drink.
The air after a sumr storm was especially fresh, and the moon had climbed high into the sky, casting two entwined shadows that stretched long and far.
After so ti, a slightly tipsy Tang Qingying closed her eyes and burrowed forward. Feeling the familiar warmth of Han Qiwu’s chest, she instantly felt secure, relaxing completely and falling into a deep sleep.

"Chirp chirp chirp chirp"
The annoying sound of magpies jolted Han Qiwu awake. He realized sothing heavy was pressing on him and glanced down—Tang Qingying was lying on his chest, looking up at him innocently.
Han Qiwu gave up on getting up and laughed helplessly. "I should’ve guessed—last night I didn’t need to bother making up that guest bed."
"I never asked you to make up the bed. Hah!" Tang Qingying rolled over with a smug smile, pointing curiously at the glacial stone under the desk with her pale foot. "What’s that stone? Why’s it glowing and surrounded by icy mist?"
"That’s ancient glacial stone," Han Qiwu instinctively replied but imdiately realized sothing was off.
How could Mr. Tang see the system’s glow?
He hastily opened the journal log and flipped through it. By the ti he reached the last entries, he was stunned.
Wait.
What’s going on?
This ga can add people?
What’s this—like an old ga console where pressing a controller button lets you add a Player 2?
Summoning the attribute interface, he realized he could now access Tang Qingying’s ga interface.
Sure enough, other than the missing three screens, all her base stats, including job specialization, stamina, and health upgrades, were identical to his, along with every skill.
Suddenly, Han Qiwu understood.
This is a real player.
I’ve just been grinding for her!
After digesting this realization, Han Qiwu’s eyes lit up.
Wait.
Mr. Tang specializes in research!
There’s hope for successful gene editing now!
He composed himself and started drafting what to say in order to explain this to Qingying.
After carefully preparing, he turned to Tang Qingying to explain.
But before he could start, he noticed the "Ah, I see" expression on Tang Qingying’s face. She leaned in with a mischievous smile, hugging Han Qiwu. "No need to explain—I’ve read through the ga instructions. Now hurry and show the courtyard!"
Han Qiwu: "????? This ga has instructions? How co I never saw them!"
