How should I put it? That flashing spot on the map is like the street food you see after school—if you don’t eat it, it’s no big deal, you can still fill up with dinner at ho.
But later, you’ll keep thinking about it. What if I’d eaten it that day? Would I have gotten first place in the finals? Would my classmates start looking at differently? What if the grilled skewers vendor thought I had potential and gave a kung fu manual?
The things you can’t have always stir up your emotions.
Han Qiwu followed the map for over half an hour before finally arriving at the location, only to find this little grove was extrely remote. Looking closely at the ground, not a single footprint could be seen, and the grove was filled with muddy paths caused by the rain.
"No wonder it’s glowing on the map. This place is so out of the way, even Aunt Hong i probably doesn’t know about it! Could there be so hundred-year-old ginseng, thousand-year-old knotweed, or ten-thousand-year-old snow lotus hidden here?" Han Qiwu stayed alert, took out a homade torch, and cautiously approached the glowing spot.
To his surprise, Han Qiwu discovered that a torch was actually more useful than a flashlight out in the wild—it not only provided light but warmth as well.
The only downside was the strong sll of tuna oil.
The magnified map showed the glowing spot was located about twenty ters into the grove. Han Qiwu carefully carried the torch and walked further in.
Good thing the spring rain today wasn’t heavy. Walking wasn’t too difficult, and within a minute or two, Han Qiwu was deep inside.
"Buzz... buzz... buzz."
"Buzz... buzz... buzz."
In the dim torchlight, Han Qiwu kept hearing a buzzing sound near his ears.
"Strange, buzzing in February? Where are the mosquitoes coming from?" Han Qiwu muttered to himself while holding his torch up to check his surroundings.
Wait a second.
Han Qiwu’s muscles froze. He imdiately extinguished the torch and turned to run.
Holy crap!
That wasn’t the sound of mosquitoes!
It was bees!
Han Qiwu didn’t bother to figure out what type of bees they were.
Even if it were regular honeybees, he wasn’t going to ss with them!
This map is a trap. Why the heck is a massive beehive glowing?!
Through the torchlight earlier, Han Qiwu caught a glimpse of the hive hanging from a tree—it was at least a ter tall, bustling with countless little black dots flying in and out. It looked formidable.
Thankfully, Han Qiwu spotted it early enough, and the bee army hadn’t noticed him yet. He hadn’t sustained any injuries.
Once he left the grove, his courage returned.
Seriously, such a big hive—imagine how much honey must be inside!
Han Qiwu knew there were many ways to deal with beehives. For him, the most practical thod was smoking them out.
As long as he wore protective gear and used smoke to drive the bees away, the nectar in the hive would be his. Han Qiwu’s storage compartnt allowed him to collect honey without harming the pupae or baby bees.
Spring was the season for bee reproduction. When harvesting honey, you had to be mindful of your thods. Using this approach ensured the bees wouldn’t be hard, and after a season, you could co back for more.
"It’s raining today, not ideal for smoking them out. I’ll co back tomorrow when it’s sunny to collect the honey!" As he thought of tasting wild honey, Han Qiwu was practically buzzing with excitent.
Honey is great for skincare—I’ll make sure to gift Mr. Tang a jar!
After marking the location, Han Qiwu rode his bike toward the coast to prepare for so fishing.
Speaking of which, it’d been a while since he last visited Brother Jing.
This afternoon, I’ll crash his kitchen and cook up a al!
In weather like this, catching a grouper would be perfect—the broth it makes is unbeatable!
Getting smacked in the face by this icy rain definitely calls for so hot fish soup.
Let’s get fishing!
Half an hour later, Han Qiwu had eaten two raspberries, rubbed his hands together, and cast another line.
Hooked!
Upon entering the fishing miniga, Han Qiwu imdiately spotted a treasure chest.
He glanced at the icon.
Aweso—it’s a ta and obedient little yellow croaker.
Han Qiwu skillfully reeled in the croaker, then tid things perfectly to grab the treasure chest before pulling up the fish.
Perfect.
Looks like the billionth candidate for "King of the Sea" might actually have so use—today he only needed half an hour to snag the first treasure chest!
[Congratulations, you’ve acquired a standard treasure chest from the sea.]
[Please open it.]
Opening the chest.
One second, two seconds, three seconds.
[Congratulations, you’ve found a wealth chest inside the treasure chest.]
[Wealth chest]: Opening it will grant you a random amount of money between 500-5000.
Han Qiwu stared in delight at the small wealth chest in his hands.
Now this is what I’m talking about—a proper treasure chest with real loot! Enough with those ores; stop stealing business from the mining folks.
Just before opening it, Han Qiwu suddenly rembered sothing.
Oh no, I forgot to check the TV before leaving today.
After so hesitation, Han Qiwu decided to stash the wealth chest in his storage compartnt and check the almanac when he got ho before opening it.
What if it’s five thousand? The chicken coop would be funded instantly!
What a solid start today—let’s keep fishing!
Two hours later.
Han Qiwu stood up, packed away his fishing rod, and stretched—his joints cracked noisily.
Thanks to his recent physical training, his back hadn’t felt sore for the past couple of days.
A healthy back ans healthy kidneys.
Luck seems to be on my side today. Han Qiwu fished out three standard crystal spheres from treasure chests, which could be sent to the blacksmith’s shop to earn favorability points.
The catch wasn’t bad either—aside from common fish, Han Qiwu actually managed to reel in a grouper.
[Little Grouper]
[Stamina 40]
[HP 30]
[Note: Young groupers are female.]
Other than the slightly odd note, the little grouper’s stats were pretty decent. Considered one of the four fad fish varieties, grouper at is tender, its broth rich, and its nutritional value exceptional—especially the protein content, which is astonishingly high.
The grouper’s highest protein content, however, makes transporting it tricky—it spoils quickly.
But Han Qiwu wasn’t worried about that.
This thing will be in the pot within ten minutes—I’d like to see what bacteria thinks it can snatch my food!
I’ll even cook bacteria and eat it!
Pure savagery.
Walking up to [The Fisherman’s Haven], Brother Jing was training. On sunny days, it didn’t seem like much, but now that it was rainy and chilly, mist rose faintly from the top of his head as he practiced.
Yep, worked up a sweat.
Han Qiwu greeted him, then carried the grouper into the kitchen and grabbed a block of tofu to start making soup.
Han Qiwu even deliberately saved the grouper’s innards and stored them in his compartnt.
These are premium bait.
While the fish was stewing on one side, Brother Jing finished his practice on the other.
As soon as Brother Jing spotted Han Qiwu, his eyes lit up and he walked over to give Han Qiwu’s shoulders a couple of squeezes.
"Not bad, you’ve been working hard lately—your muscle tone’s looking more balanced."
Han Qiwu blankly stared at Brother Jing. Co on, talk without getting handsy, will you?
"Yeah, been pretty busy these days, also eating well."
Brother Jing nodded approvingly. "Make sure you don’t overdo it. If you don’t know sothing, feel free to ask ."
Han Qiwu had been planning to ask, but decided to wait until after the al.
If you eat my grouper, you better soften your attitude.
Such a delicious grouper—next ti I catch one, I’ll save it for Mr. Tang.
