Han Qiwu opened the map and found that the Mist Forest was located to the northeast of the woods where he always t the peddler, about three or four hundred ters away. The area was roughly the size of a small hill—not too big, but not small either.
The location wasn’t far.
Might as well check it out later.
"Mist? Could it really make lose my way? Could there be miasma? Maybe I should wear a couple of extra masks," Han Qiwu thought to himself while returning to the house and giving the TV a pat.
It’s a pity there wasn’t a compass at ho; otherwise, he would have taken one.
[Weather Forecast]
Tomorrow will be cloudy
[Life Tips]
Within three steps, there must be fragrant grass
[Almanac]
Good for exploring, bad for retreating
[Shennong Recipes]
Shennong is resting
The television programs were pretty interesting, especially the advice in the life tips section.
"Within three steps, there must be fragrant grass? Could this be implying that the toxins in the Mist Forest might have nearby antidotes?" Han Qiwu chuckled. Coupled with the information from the almanac, he even suspected there might be combat-worthy creatures in the Mist Forest.
Hmm, better wear the snake-repelling sachet as well.
Just in case there’s a cauliflower snake.
Even if it’s non-venomous, getting bitten would still be quite painful.
Oh, and don’t forget about Xiao Dian and Xiao Lai.
Both can be used to scout ahead.
Xiao Dian, who had just woken up: "???"
This familiar feeling!
The master is scheming sothing again!
After turning off the TV, Han Qiwu grabbed a quick bite to eat, walked into Wutong, and decided to check on the blue peacock.
Early in the morning, it had been the loudest one by far.
Could it already have laid eggs?
As soon as he stepped inside, Han Qiwu’s eyes lit up.
The blue peacock’s body had grown significantly larger than before—almost the size of a terror bird now—and its feathers had beco even more vibrant.
"It should be ready to lay eggs, right?"
Han Qiwu circled around the blue peacock.
Empty-handed.
Where are the eggs?
After opening the attribute panel and taking a closer look, he finally understood. It turned out the blue peacock’s growth cycle was longer than that of ordinary poultry; currently, it had only just reached maturity.
Simply put, it now had the conditions required for laying eggs.
Han Qiwu grabbed so purple alfalfa feed and placed it in front of the peacock, gently saying, "Co on, little peacock, you can do this! Lay an egg for !"
The blue peacock: "...Lay an egg for you to eat?"
She didn’t bother responding to Han Qiwu’s words.
As far as she was concerned: as long as he provided good feed, she’d eat it.
Purple alfalfa sure slled wonderful.
After feeding the blue peacock, Han Qiwu walked over to the at chicken’s coop and cheerfully grabbed a Fla Bird leg.
He had to admit.
This thing was truly delicious when fried.
"Hey, at chicken, let’s get so wings next ti for a change in flavor," Han Qiwu sincerely advised, his tone earnest.
The at chicken: "..."
Listen to yourself.
Does that even sound human?
After collecting chicken eggs and terror bird eggs, Han Qiwu also picked up fire duck eggs and milk.
"If only Master Shuzi had so puppets for collecting items like this—it would save so much hassle every day," Han Qiwu glanced at the ti and picked up the copper wine kettle to start watering the plants.
Rice, asparagus, roses, and other crops all required manual watering.
"I really need to set up so sprinklers. Iron ore isn’t much of an issue, but there’s a big shortage of copper ore. I’ll have to go to the thirtieth level or deeper to get so today," Han Qiwu thought while watering the plants.
Just as he was about to finish watering, he suddenly realized.
Why wasn’t he using the skill from the East South Sea Dragon King statue?
He’d used it twice just yesterday.
Sigh, such a blunder.
Next ti, rember to use it.
The more good items he had at ho, the easier it was to forget about them.
After finishing up with the remaining plants, he grabbed the Flash Moon Iron Axe and his mask, stuffed Xiao Dian and Xiao Lai into the bike’s basket, and leisurely pedaled off toward the Mist Forest.
Since Han Qiwu was curious, he pedaled quite quickly and reached the Mist Forest’s entrance in just over ten minutes.
The entrance to the Mist Forest was, to be precise, the entrance tree.
Two towering weeping willows, each over ten ters tall, flanked the path, leaving a small trail between them that led into the depths. Following the path inward, visibility was only about ten ters; further in, all that could be seen was an expanse of white mist. From outside, it was eerily silent, as though no sound could escape.
"Looks pretty dangerous," Han Qiwu muttered, then pulled out his phone to set his current location and an alarm—as a precaution—that would send a warning ssage to Grandpa Chen if he didn’t erge in two hours.
Better safe than sorry.
After ensuring the settings were correct, he placed Xiao Lai on his shoulder, cradled Xiao Dian, and cautiously stepped inside.
As soon as he passed the weeping willows, a notification appeared before him:
[You have entered the Mist Forest]
"Looks like there aren’t any special restrictions, and there’s no entrance fee either," Han Qiwu thought casually.
This would be fun; now he could take his ti exploring.
Walking past the entrance trees, he noticed that his vision was now filled with just a small trail. Areas without mist were completely barren—there wasn’t a single tree. All he could see was an endless expanse of white mist.
"No trees? What am I supposed to chop then?"
Continuing forward a few more steps, he heard the rustling of leaves nearby.
"Wait, where’s that rustling coming from if there aren’t any trees?" Han Qiwu scanned his surroundings warily before suddenly hearing the sound of wind.
"Xiao Dian, take it down!"
Han Qiwu sidestepped the attack and released Xiao Dian from his hand.
"Zzzzap!"
Xiao Dian spread its wings and emitted a bolt of golden electricity from its beak, striking a shadow darting toward them and sending it flying.
At that mont, Han Qiwu caught a glimpse of its properties.
[Mist Caterpillar]
[Level: 20]
[Attack thods: Summoning, Leaping, Silk-spitting]
[Note: Mist Caterpillars are not to be trifled with]
"Level 20? What’s so tough about it?" Han Qiwu frowned, growing even more cautious as he examined his surroundings.
He had zero fondness for these fuzzy caterpillars; just looking at them gave him goosebumps.
"Clack-clack!"
Xiao Dian disdainfully flapped its wings, signaling that it could handle hundreds of such caterpillars.
"Don’t get cocky. Keep moving," Han Qiwu said, attempting to retrieve the snow armor from his storage but receiving a notification that it couldn’t be equipped in non-combat scenarios.
If he couldn’t wear it, so be it!
Han Qiwu placed Xiao Lai on his head as a live hat.
Xiao Lai, looking innocent: "???"
Over the next ten minutes or so, Han Qiwu encountered attacks from dozens of mist caterpillars and gradually learned their attack patterns.
Summoning involved calling out loudly, which would attract hordes of smaller caterpillars.
Leaping was the skill initially used to attack Han Qiwu—jumping down from the leaves.
Silk-spitting was the least-used, but the most disgusting. Once the silk adhered to you, pulling it off only made it worse—it stuck and stretched endlessly.
After Xiao Dian accidentally got caught in the silk a few tis, an enraged Xiao Dian started zapping the caterpillars from afar, refusing to let them co close.
Do you know how troubleso it is for a little bird to take a bath?
Luckily, Han Qiwu had Xiao Lai for protection, so he stayed pristine.
Xiao Lai, sitting on his head: "???"
Do you even realize how dirty I am?
"Don’t worry; I’ll give you a proper bath later," Han Qiwu reassured Xiao Lai. "I don’t mind the dirt."
Xiao Lai: "...Then why don’t you throw away the leaves in your hand before touching !"
n are all liars!
"I’ve probably walked around four to five hundred ters by now," Han Qiwu noted, lifting his gaze and finally spotting the silhouettes of so poplar trees.
Based on the count, there were about thirty to forty of them.
"Finally, so trees! My trusty axe has been itching for action!"
