Chapter 1051: Obtaining the Emperor’s Seal

Editor: Henyee Translations

Chu Tang had everyone fly onto the wooden shelves, staying silent and motionless, watching the two frightened n below.

After searching for a while, Fifth Master Xuan suddenly stopped.

That young man seed to possess so sort of sorcery, and this was surely one of his tricks. They had to stay calm and not fall into his trap.

Fifth Master Xuan forced himself to calm down. “Stay calm. This level should be free of threats. We can find the way to the lower level ourselves.”

Xuan Dong Wu slowly cald down as well. “You’re right. We can find the way down without them.”

“Yes.” Fifth Master Xuan nodded and resud his search.

Chu Tang needed to recover his energy, so he signaled Jiang Zhaoyong and the others to remain still. Then he sat down, crossing his legs, to restore his spiritual power.

Su Liangwei pulled out the book he had taken from Lu Ziming and began reading, hoping to find clues.

The book was filled with rumors about the Nalan family, but given their experiences so far, the rumors seed credible.

The light was dim, so he read slowly.

After an incense stick’s worth of ti, Chu Tang opened his eyes, and simultaneously, Su Liangwei found a thod to access the second level in the book.

Su Liangwei handed the book to Chu Tang. “Here’s a way in.”

Having no better options, Chu Tang decided to try. He jumped down to the ground.

Fifth Master Xuan and Xuan Dong Wu, hearing the noise, quickly approached. Seeing the people who had vanished and reappeared, they beca even more convinced of Chu Tang’s sorcery. “Where did you go just now?”

Chu Tang ignored Fifth Master Xuan and walked towards another direction with the book in hand.

Jiang Zhaoyong and the others followed Chu Tang.

Fifth Master Xuan felt slighted but knew he had no ans to find the way himself, so he swallowed his pride and followed.

The thod to access the second level was simple. In the middle of the two central rows of wooden shelves, there were square floor tiles. Walking in a specific pattern on these tiles would open the entrance to the next level.

Chu Tang followed the book’s instructions and walked the pattern. The sound of chanisms turning filled the air, and a row of wooden shelves moved aside, revealing a downward entrance.

Chu Tang extended his spiritual sense. Below was an armory, filled with legendary weapons of this world.

The room’s periter was guarded by golden chanical warriors made of bronze and iron, with no visible weaknesses—far more formidable than the ones they had encountered earlier.

As he examined the room, Fifth Master Xuan and Xuan Dong Wu rushed past, shoving others aside, and hurriedly descended.

Their urgency made them look almost insane.

Chu Tang stayed put, waiting.

Monts later, Xuan Dong Wu’s scream echoed up, and Fifth Master Xuan scrambled back, his face covered in blood. “Dong Wu was cut in half by the chanical warriors.”

No one sympathized. Rushing into an unknown area was asking for death.

Chu Tang watched as the chanical warriors, having killed, returned to their posts, standing guard once more.

The earlier encounter showed him how the second-level chanism worked. It wasn’t triggered without cause; a touchpoint activated it.

Here, the touchpoint was the floor. As long as soone stepped on it, the chanical warriors would attack.

In other words, avoiding the floor would prevent triggering the chanism…

Chu Tang inford the others, “The chanism below is triggered by stepping on the floor. If you can’t handle it, don’t go down.”

He then flew down.

Jiang Zhaoyong and Shang Zixing exchanged glances, then used their lightness skills to descend.

Su Liangwei and Duan Ting, confident in their lightness skills, also flew down, unwilling to miss out.

Fifth Master Xuan, despite his lingering fear, closed his eyes and saw the image of Xuan Dong Wu’s brutal death. Feeling a mix of fear and disdain, he too flew down.

Sure enough, avoiding the floor prevented triggering the chanism. They used their lightness skills to hover, occasionally standing on the chanical warriors’ shoulders to rest.

The designers likely never imagined soone could bypass their trap so easily.

Once Chu Tang descended, he floated around the room, finally stopping before a wall.

This wall was different from the others. In front of it was a small platform with two stone pedestals, each holding a large basin filled with solidified oil, burning with a yellow fla.

The wall was adorned with intricate phoenix and cloud patterns, centered around a figure holding a torch, with flas carved at the bottom—a mysterious scene.

Chu Tang flipped through the book, finding a matching illustration.

The Nalan family, pioneers of chanical arts, revered this founder depicted holding a torch. The flas at the bottom symbolized their legacy.

The instructions at the bottom of the page explained how to open the wall—by solving another set of chanisms.

Chu Tang, however, decided against searching for the chanisms. Ti was running short. He opted for a direct approach, planning to smash through the wall.

This would surely be faster than searching for another chanism.

He put away the book, gathered his spiritual power, and struck the wall. Surprisingly, it cracked with a single blow.

Chu Tang stepped forward, kicking the broken wall down into pieces.

That was indeed faster.

Everyone else was stunned.

Behind the wall, however, was a room filled with hallucinogenic poisonous plants. The vibrant green leaves swayed as if alive, emitting toxic vapors.

Chu Tang retreated, but Fifth Master Xuan rushed in, shouting, “The seal! The seal!”

The room was filled with poisonous plants, not the seal.

Chu Tang thought, He’s surely fallen victim to the poison. But it wasn’t his problem; he wouldn’t save him.

Fifth Master Xuan was imdiately entangled by the plants, drained of his blood, and turned into fertilizer.

But it wasn’t over. Jiang Zhaoyong and the others seed srized, walking towards the poisonous plants.

Chu Tang quickly cast a spell to burn the plants.

As the spiritual fire swept through, the plants turned to ash, writhing as if in pain, faint hisses echoing.

With the plants gone, Jiang Zhaoyong and the others snapped back to reality, drenched in cold sweat from their near-death experience.

They had narrowly escaped death.

As the smoke cleared, Chu Tang noticed a small, gleaming object amidst the ashes. He reached down and retrieved the Emperor’s Seal, holding it up for all to see.

Finally, they had obtained the Emperor’s Seal.
