Chapter 44: Man vs Chicken part 3

Ren and Rokku relocated to a part of the forest near them, far enough that any energy projection was sure not to hit any valuables, or incite the interest of the villagers. Although it was still fairly dark, so light had begun radiating down and it would be no surprise to find any of the villagers up and awake. They probably had an hour until it was proper morning and the two suns were out.

[Ti remaining: 1 hour, and 27 minutes]

Ren activated his mana sense, and with it, he could see the amount of internal mana that remained within Rokku. It seed that they stalemated one another when it ca to physical performances, but Ren Hanaki being the specially summoned he was had so tricks left to reveal.

He smirked, eyes locked at the evolved rooster, "You will run out of mana quite soon, won’t you?"

"And so will you." Rokku rebutted.

’Oh, but I have learnt convergence my friend.’ As much as Rokku was talented, he could not have learnt convergence already, no. Ren had the absolute edge in this battle.

"Enough talk!" Enoa chid in like a seasoned brat. The two were quick to resu their bout. They closed in on one another, preferring to solve this in a rugged hand to hand battle, or perhaps hand to wing. Rokku was graceful with his lunges and swipes, being a bird gave him certain advantages in movent. His wings beca unforgiving blades with mana coating them which put Ren in defense. Whatever Ren must do, he could not allow those wings to hit him, Rokku could take one of his blows, and live but lose the battle, Ren however most certainly could not take an undefended blow unless he wanted his guts spilled on his hands.

Man against spirit animal, simple ruggedness versus grace. Ren imdiately jumped back upon getting the chance and stood on a tree. He could see Rokku’s depleted mana, and although his was almost as little, he could recover his lost mana with the atmospheric energy abundant everywhere.

Rokku rely stared at him above. The spirit animal then noticed sothing. Ren had his fists joined, touching as he was in ditation, and despite the fact that Rokku did not have the skills ’mana sense’ or ’mana perception’, he could feel the surge of mana in the man, a rudintary instinct that was needed to develop both skills.

"No!" Rokku lunged, leapping at Ren, and sending feathers turned blades to him. Ren avoided them all with no trouble, jumping onto another branch. Rokku was persistent, he used the tree that Ren had moved away from as leverage to launch himself at Ren.

A wide smirk ca on Ren’s face, "You have left yourself wide open." Rokku could not hear him, and all the spirit animal thought about was what he was going to do, forgetting that Ren had plans of his own too. With a few inches just away from them, Rokku swiped at both flanks, he was certain that this was it, until he saw the smirk on Ren’s face, and his fist that drove forward. The realization dawned upon him, but it was much too late now.

Ren landed a clean punch on the evolved rooster abdon, driving his mana across his arm, and coalesced on his knuckles. Rokku let out a loud cluck of pain and flung backwards, hitting so tree branches in the process, then eventually falling to the ground, and leaving a large dent where it fell.

"Oh dear, is he still alive?" Ren cried out at Enoa who went to check.

"Yes, he’s still alive, just with a few fractured bones. He is unconscious however, and I suppose that this is your win, Ren Hanaki."

"I declare Ren Hanaki the winner of this battle!" Enoa announced with its short right arm raised.

"That will be later." He landed below and began running to his newest companion.

"Will he be fine?"

"He will be, just have him take so well deserved rest and eat, and he will be as good as new. That was a clean punch. I knew it was over as soon as you wore that smirk."

"He tried, he almost bested . And for a one day old evolved, he is imnsely impressive."

"They tend to be." Enoa responded. The angel snapped its fingers, and faded away leaving Rokku and Ren to their business.

He carefully lifted up the evolved animal, placed him on his shoulder and began moving to his place.

"That was the most fun I have had." He whispered, but the Rooster was still widely asleep.

"We should have so more spars soti."

Ren carried Rokku to his ho, and laid him on his settee. Once he wakes, Ren would feed him, and hope that he did not take the punch personally.

Although the fight was over, a fire was lit inside of Ren, he had first felt it fighting the magicker, and he felt it again, except it was even stronger this ti.

His body burned to be tested, he needed to face trials and overco them, he needed to learn the ways of cultivation, and he needed to be strong. Most of all, he hungered for more fights to sate him.

He went to his bed and pulled out the letter from the side. The recomndation letter that would make him a student at one of the most prestigious sects in the continent.

He let out a sigh as he lightly rubbed the paper

"I will be there soon."

Usually, he would have to call out his system to have it reveal his information, but Enoa had always revealed it gracefully, it only needed to swipe its hand and have it hovering in front of them.

’Let

try that.’

’System,’ He thought with a swipe of his right arm, and the blue screen appeared in front of him.
