Chapter 582: Chapter 583 eting_1
Muniang had suspected earlier that Zhuang Yile’s identity was hidden within the Daqian Dynasty, perhaps without even a legal household registration. Now, seeing his panic-stricken reaction to her probe, she felt certain of it, almost absolutely sure!
Naturally, Muniang wouldn’t let such an opportunity slip by and calmly waited for the governnt officer to take the man away.
The governnt officer said to the old lady, “Madam, you’d better co along with us. It will help us catch his accomplice and, once we reclaim the silver, we can return it to you.”
The old lady agreed repeatedly and then, turning to Muniang, said, “This young lady here is a witness, and she has been a great help to us.”
Thus, the governnt officer suggested, “Then you should co along too. Once the case is concluded, the magistrate will surely reward you.”
Under normal circumstances, Muniang wouldn’t be inclined to make such a trip, but as it was she who had entrapped Zhuang Yile, she naturally had to follow through and dutifully nodded her agreent.
Yu Ze and Muniang walked behind the others and, lowering his voice, he said, “You’ve dragged him off to the governnt office; he won’t be able to escape now. Be careful not to drive him away at the end.”
Muniang laughed and assured him, “Don’t worry, I’m not willing to let him be driven away. Just wait for him to beg , and I’ll surely save him. Our most important task at hand is to enter the valley, isn’t it?”
Yu Ze, having understood, didn’t say more and followed the governnt officer into the governnt office with the rest.
Zhuang Yile, no fool at this point, could see that the young woman was intentionally making a fool of him. They had no grievances or grudges between them, so why would she go to such lengths? Unless she had recognized his true identity, but that couldn’t be possible, could it?
When Zhuang Yile looked up at Muniang, his eyes t her shrewd pair, and a chill ran down his spine, almost sure she had guessed it.
Just as the governnt officers were about to fetch the magistrate, Zhuang Yile hurriedly begged them to let him speak a few words with Qiao Muniang. Initially, the officer wanted to ignore him, but Muniang interrupted, “Esteed officers, he might be truly repentant at this mont. I’d like to say a few words to him if I may. Could you accommodate this small request?”
A simple and beautiful woman making such a modest request was sothing no man would refuse.
“Of course that’s not a problem, but you must be careful, young lady. Don’t let that thief take advantage of you. If he tries anything, don’t bla my blade for being rude!”
The governnt officer warned, glared at Zhuang Yile, and then went to summon the magistrate.
Smiling, Muniang took a leisurely stroll to where Zhuang Yile was, “Well? You said you had sothing to tell ? Ti is of the essence. If you hesitate, when the magistrate arrives and starts investigating your identity, it’ll be too late for anything.”
Zhuang Yile’s eyes widened. The aning behind Muniang’s words was clear—not only did she know all his secrets, but she was also aware of his real concern at this mont!
“Rest assured, as long as you behave, I won’t do anything to you. We simply wish to visit the Great Divine Doctor in Small Jade Valley. Why be so unkind? If your illegal status is exposed, it won’t just be deportation—you might get a beating. The Great Divine Doctor’s frail body might not survive the ordeal. Then again, it’s no big deal, right? After all, being a Divine Doctor, you’re sure to hang on to life, right?”
At Muniang’s words, Zhuang Yile felt his legs go weak, and he stared at her, exclaiming, “You’re doing this on purpose!”
“And you deliberately deceived
yesterday!”
Zhuang Yile took a deep breath before replying, “What do you want? Aren’t you here to see ? Now that you have, what’s the issue?”
“Who said we wanted to see you? I want to see your ho. In a word, are you leading the way or not? If not, don’t even think about going back,” Muniang said with a cold huff.
“My place is not a vegetable market; you can’t just co in as you please!”
“Oh, the County Governnt Office isn’t a vegetable market either; you can’t leave whenever you want. Don’t bla
when you’re left with half a life…”
“Fine!”
Muniang blinked, “If you’d agreed earlier, there wouldn’t have been any trouble!”
Zhuang Yile felt so frustrated he wanted to vomit blood, but Muniang already ignored him. She winked at Yu Ze, and at his command, several Hidden Guards dressed in plain clothes brought the thief inside.
Zhuang Yile’s eyes widened in disbelief; she caught the person and still deliberately slandered him!
Actually, the mont the thief tossed the bundle to Zhuang Yile, Muniang had Yu Ze instruct the Hidden Guards to capture the thief and wait until the right mont to bring him in, which was now.
Just as the governnt officer ca out, Muniang handed over the thief directly. After a series of questions, it turned out the thief had nothing to do with Zhuang Yile—he was just an unlucky scapegoat.
The old lady was especially apologetic, pulling Zhuang Yile aside to offer nurous apologies since she had beaten an innocent person. An irritated Zhuang Yile stord out.
Muniang and Yu Ze naturally followed: “The Great Divine Doctor can’t be soone who doesn’t keep his word, right? Otherwise, I’ll flip the situation on you in an instant—do you believe that? The thief sent to the governnt office might suddenly beco a scapegoat found by the Great Divine Doctor, and in fact, you want to escape your responsibility. Then you would have to go in again.”
Zhuang Yile replied annoyedly, “How did you know my identity?”
“Smart.” With two light words, Muniang choked him nearly to death, and he led the way with a dark face.
The three arrived at Small Jade Valley; Zhuang Yile then guided them into the forest. Everything was a blur inside, but Zhuang Yile walked ahead without delay as if he had x-ray vision, moving swiftly.
Muniang was worried about bumping into things and proceeded cautiously, always a step slower, so Yu Ze simply protected her in his arms and led her forward.
After the ti it takes to burn a stick of incense, the view suddenly opened up to three bamboo cottages and several plots of dicinal herbs—it seed like a rather peaceful place.
Though Yu Ze didn’t say anything, Muniang clearly felt his grip on her hand tighten—it was a sign of his nervousness.
After all, it had been more than ten years since he last saw his brother; his excitent was indescribable.
As Yu Ze was about to enter the bamboo cottage, he heard a bright female voice inside: “Why do you eat so little again? This dicinal al is highly nutritious; the Divine Doctor said you need to eat more of it to get better. Eat more, please!”
It was obviously Nangong Anan’s voice.
The person inside didn’t respond, but Nangong Anan, clearly complaining, put the bowl aside, “It’s just your stubborn temperant!”
Yu Ze pushed open the door to see a man in a green shirt sitting inside, holding a book, quietly reading. He bore a resemblance to Yu Ze, with about seventy percent similarity, but the entire deanor of the man was more scholarly compared to Yu Ze’s vigorous dominance—the calm presence was akin to a living Buddha.
