Chapter 495: Chapter 496: Don’t Compare Her to Those Won_1

“Doctor Xue, please have so tea. This is rely a humble place, and the best tea I have to offer is nothing more than Bi Luo Chun. I hope you don’t mind.” Muniang personally served the tea to Doctor Xue as a token of gratitude. Without soone of Doctor Xue’s stature present today, the situation might not have been quelled.

Doctor Xue laughed heartily, “What do you think I drink in the palace? This isn’t bad at all. Do you think Yu Ze would let you drink poor-quality tea?”

Muniang smiled. She had guessed that Doctor Xue was quite down-to-earth, as his attire was entirely made of cotton without a single piece of brocade, clearly showing that he didn’t care about such trivialities.

As Doctor Xue sipped his tea, he also sized up Muniang. They had just t and already colluded to stage a great act. Although it was a collaboration, he had simply followed Qiao Muniang’s instructions. Looking back now, he realized this woman was truly remarkable. Her mind was incredibly sharp. Fortunately, she hadn’t entered the palace; otherwise, those won of the harem wouldn’t stand a chance against her.

Yu Ze, evidently not pleased with his wife being observed by another man, pinched Muniang’s palm, “You should go back to your room and rest. You must be tired after half a day’s ordeal.”

Muniang was still thinking about how to explain to Doctor Xue that he had made a wasted trip and hesitated for a mont, “But…”

Yu Ze naturally understood what she was worried about and reassured her, “Don’t worry, I’ve got this.”

Only then did Muniang nod. She whispered in Yu Ze’s ear, “Just don’t offend him, we might need his help in the future.” With that, she turned and went inside.

Yu Ze shook his head helplessly. His little wife really didn’t act like a princess; did he, Yu Ze, have any unsettled issues in the Daqian Dynasty? Not to ntion asking for favours.

Doctor Xue could tell that Yu Ze had intentionally sent Muniang away and muttered, “So stingy. You’re so protective over just a glance. I didn’t believe it when I heard in the Capital City how much you doted on her. I thought it was a joke, considering how cold and heartless the War God Prince is. It seed amazing enough that you got married, let alone doting on her. But now, having seen it with my own eyes, I indeed find it quite amusing.”

With that, he laughed out loud, his laughter echoing around.

Yu Ze turned his palm in his sleeve and the mild gust of his palm made Doctor Xue imdiately behave, clearing his throat awkwardly, “I’m telling you, your wife is sothing else. She’s so incredibly shrewd; it’s unmatched. Do you know about the incident that happened by the riverside earlier? It’s one thing for her to be smart, and I’m used to seeing all those imperial consorts scheming against each other every day in the palace, but she’s also got your heart in her grip. I really underestimated her before.”

Doctor Xue truly hadn’t thought highly of Qiao Muniang in the past. Knowing Yu Ze’s temperant, when he found out Yu Ze had married a girl from the countryside, he simply thought Yu Ze had chosen a commoner to avoid the scheming of the Capital City. As for why he married her, it was probably because she had saved his life. But now he realized it was not the case at all.

He could hardly believe that Yu Ze would treat a woman like this. Yu Ze had never been close to won before, but once a woman beca the apple of his eye, he would cherish her to the skies. It was uncertain whether it was Yu Ze’s good fortune or Qiao Muniang’s.

Yu Ze’s face darkened, “Don’t compare her with those won in the palace.”

Doctor Xue chuckled, “Oh, looks like we can’t talk about this. Alright, let’s drop it then. Weren’t you the one who called

to treat your wife? You spoke of an urgent matter, and I nearly broke my old bones rushing here as fast as I could.”

Yu Ze said indifferently, “She’s already better.”

Doctor Xue’s lips twitched, “What did you say?”

“Since you’re here, stay a few more days, take it as a little break. I’ll have the servants prepare a spare room for you,” said Yu Ze, rising to his feet and heading outside.

Doctor Xue’s beard bristled with irritation: “Wasn’t it an urgent illness? How co it suddenly got better? Bullying an old man like ! A break, my foot, do you think I have nothing better to do?”

Qingya hurried in and said, “Doctor Xue, please don’t be upset, this matter is a long story. Our master didn’t an to deceive you. It was indeed very urgent at first, but later on, we found out it wasn’t serious at all.”

Doctor Xue wasn’t truly angry, just annoyed with Yu Ze for tricking him and then acting all righteous about it. The two had always had a good relationship, and there wasn’t really any question of anger, but hearing the urgency in the young maid’s explanation piqued the old man’s interest.

“What exactly happened?”

Qingya had no choice but to detail the whole truth. It was actually Muniang who had instructed her to co and apologize. Muniang knew that with Yu Ze’s personality, he was unlikely to explain much to others, and she didn’t want Doctor Xue to be too upset, so she had specially asked Qingya to co and clarify everything.

Hearing this, Doctor Xue clucked his tongue and said, “I never expected there to be such a situation. I thought once the couple moved away from the Capital City, away from that land of strife, they would live more peacefully. But it seems troubles can arise anywhere.”

After listening to the explanation, Doctor Xue felt much more at ease. Since he had already co, he might as well enjoy it as a break.

Muniang was staying obediently inside her room; otherwise, Yu Ze would nag at her again later. Luckily, she had nearly mastered her embroidery over the past few days, so she decided to start by making a pouch for Yu Ze to practice. The pouch she had previously made for him was terribly ugly, and he was still using it. After all this ti, it was almost worn out. In the future, once her skills improved, she would embroider a few more for him.

As Muniang stitched, she felt blissful inside. Embroidering sothing personally for the one in her heart truly felt different. She was thinking that once her skills improved, she would take over embroidering all his clothes, shoes, and pouches.

When Qingya ca in, Muniang looked up and asked, “How did it go? Was Doctor Xue angry?”

Qingya smiled and said, “Not at all. Doctor Xue has a good temper. After I explained everything to him, he was even concerned about whether Lady’s child was well. Now that he’s here, he might as well stay a few days, consider it a break.”

Muniang smiled in response, “That’s good then, we can’t let him co all this way for nothing, let’s treat him well.”

“Yes.”

“How are things with the Xu Family?” Although Muniang couldn’t be bothered to watch Madam Li’s antics, she was still very interested in the outco.

“The servant who went to gather information just reported back, everyone by the river has dispersed, and the whole Xu Family has returned ho. They say they’re going to live their lives properly, as if nothing happened.”

Muniang was slightly surprised and asked curiously, “That’s it for Madam Li’s matter? Xu Shuzhuo is really quite easygoing.”
