Chapter 488: Chapter 489: The Love of a Mother_1
Mrs. Lin watched as Wu Haoli arrived and was enthusiastically warm. After all, he had helped their family quite a lot in the past, and naturally, she missed him after not seeing him for so many days.
“Haoli is here. You must stay for a al. It just so happens I’ve made plenty, and you finally rember to co back and visit after being away for a year,” Mrs. Lin said with a smile.
“If I had known earlier that Auntie missed , I would have co back sooner.”
Mrs. Lin chided with a smile, “You’re always so informal. Alright, Auntie will make you sothing delicious today.”
Muniang quickly intervened, “Mother, with your health, you shouldn’t be working so hard. You’ve only just recovered recently, please don’t overdo it. Let
do it.”
Mrs. Lin glared, “But you’re still carrying a child in your belly.”
Muniang had no choice but to say, “Mother, Wu Haoli might not be used to your cooking. I’m not so frail that I can’t move around, I can still cook, can’t I? Please rest!”
Mrs. Lin started fussing playfully, “Alright, alright, you cook better anyway, so you do it!”
Muniang blinked, “Right? Mother, go take a rest and don’t tire yourself out.”
After Mrs. Lin’s persistence, Yu Ze found it difficult to send anyone away, so he left Wu Haoli to join them for a al. Wu Haoli dismissed Liu Fu and went back to his residence specially to fetch the recipe for chicken soup for Muniang. Following this recipe, at least it wouldn’t be greasy anymore.
That evening, Muniang cooked a al and personally used the recipe to stew a pot of chicken soup. It really didn’t taste greasy at all, which delighted her, and she was glad to be spared suffering.
Yu Ze originally had an aversion to it himself, but seeing his wife finally able to eat without feeling nauseated and drink the soup to get nutrition made him feel much better.
That night, Muniang prepared a lavish dinner. Without much fuss, they simply sat around the table enjoying the al together. Wu Haoli talked a lot about the delicacies from Qilian Kingdom and its developntal state.
Muniang listened with relish, while Yu Ze didn’t show much reaction. He had spent many years on the frontier, so he was naturally familiar with so of the things in Qilian Kingdom. Besides, as a military leader facing the enemy, how could he possibly not know the basic situation of the opposing side? Even now, he still had spies in Qilian Kingdom sending him updates about the conditions there.
However, since Muniang wasn’t interested in military affairs, Yu Ze didn’t bring it up much. Now, watching Muniang listening with such enthusiasm, he didn’t stop her, and instead was continuously serving her food, reminding her to eat. He coaxed her to eat just like one would coax a child, which left Yu Ze helpless.
After sending Wu Haoli away, it was already late at night. Muniang, having bathed, hooked her arm around Yu Ze’s neck and snuggled into his embrace, saying excitedly, “Husband, hearing everything Wu Haoli said got
so excited. Once my i Garden rises to fa, won’t Qilian Kingdom have to take notice too? By then, who knows? It might even beco all the rage over there. I was thinking that once i Garden is stable, we could tour around the country, but now I’ve changed my mind. I want to reach other countries too!”
As Muniang spoke, her eyes shined with excitent; she was clearly overjoyed.
Yu Ze, with one arm around her waist and the other gently patting her back, as if soothing a cat, said, “Once the baby is born, we can go anywhere we like.”
Muniang giggled and tightened her grip on his neck, pulling herself close to his cheek and giving him a light peck, “Husband, how am I supposed to handle you being so good to ?”
Yu Ze couldn’t feel her kiss at all; his eyes were fixed on the undergarnt that Muniang had slightly disturbed by her abrupt movents. A bright red bellyband covered her snow-white, fullness. Swallowing hard, Yu Ze rasped, “Wife, how many months are you now?”
How could Muniang not understand him? Once his animal instincts kicked in, it would be relentless. She decisively let go, irritated, “There are still about ten days before it’s a full three months. You’ll have to hold back!”
How could Yu Ze possibly let go now? He pulled the petite woman towards him, “You’re just going to ignore your husband burning up? I’ll be gentle, very gentle.”
Muniang really did feel sorry for him, as a man who had tasted at couldn’t easily stop. She probably understood the tornt Yu Ze was going through, but she still couldn’t give in and put on a stern face, “Then do as you wish.”
Yu Ze wanted to cry without tears; how could he do as he wished when she was like this? He honestly let go, and Muniang rolled into the bed to sleep, not forgetting to add, “Don’t share a blanket with !”
Helplessly shaking his head, Yu Ze was still not over his fiery state, and his little wife was still angry. She was clever, always knowing which tactics to use against him—foolproof every ti!
After calming himself down a bit, Yu Ze finally lifted the covers and directly scooped Muniang into his arms. If he couldn’t engage in the real deed, could she at least let him embrace her through the long, lonely night? To not even be allowed to cherish his own wife felt too stifling!
Muniang thought about struggling, but Yu Ze warned her fiercely, “Don’t move around, or the fire will ignite again, and I won’t be able to control it.”
Muniang was speechless; she was just afraid of getting too close to him, fearing the unbearable resurgence of his fiery desire. Well, if he wanted to torture himself, go ahead. It’s just an extra warm quilt for her!
The next day, Muniang slept in until the sun was high in the sky before getting up. After eating breakfast, she eagerly headed to the embroidery room. Although her skills weren’t good, she had learned the basics and knew practice was key. The thought of making clothes for her baby made Muniang rather impatient.
Upon arrival, she found out Madam Liu wasn’t there, learning only after asking around that she had gone to the town’s Embroidery House to handle the arrival of new goods.
“Muniang, if you want to learn, I’ll teach you. Your aunt is very busy,” said Dabao’s Mother.
Muniang was quite pleased, “That sounds great.”
“Your mother’s embroidery work isn’t bad either. Why not learn at ho instead of running here?” Dabao’s Mother chuckled.
“Her health isn’t great, and I’d rather not disturb her,” Muniang said, which was actually just a pretext. Mrs. Lin’s health was now good enough for her to move around without issues; how could she get tired from sewing a few garnts? The crux of the matter was that Mrs. Lin always grabbed every chance to feed her all sorts of nutritious soups, and Muniang had to obediently drink them. Coming out was an opportunity to avoid this, so why would she put herself right in the middle of it?
Now, Yu Ze and her mother were in cahoots, insisting she eat more, always more.
However, Dabao’s Mother said with evident envy, “You’re quite lucky to have your mother dote on you like this, to have soone care for you so much while pregnant.”
Only then did Muniang rember Dabao’s Mother’s situation. She too had a belly almost nine months along and must be close to her due date yet still hustled over here daily to embroider. And knowing how stingy her mother-in-law was, Dabao’s Mother likely didn’t have the easiest of tis.
