Loving soone you shouldn’t love, Mo Yan didn’t know whose fault this truly was, nor did she know how to console Big Sister Dani, caught in the throes of unrequited love, to help her step out of the pit that was Yan Junyu and find the happiness that truly belonged to her.
The only comfort to Mo Yan was that Dani could see reality clearly and wouldn’t do anything to hurt herself in a mont of confusion. Perhaps with ti, this unreciprocated affection would slowly fade, and eventually, the man who could give her happiness would co along.
By the ti she returned ho, Yan Junyu had already co back. He was behind the kitchen, embracing half a waterlon with no decorum at all, spooning it into his mouth in big bites while imperiously directing Cui Pingan to clean up the big roe deer he had caught.
The roe deer was indeed very large, and the frail Cui Pingan found it difficult to handle. He really wanted to lift the deer and smash it onto Yan Junyu’s face, who was good at talking but not at doing. However, he couldn’t beat Yan Junyu, nor outtalk him, and his social status was leagues behind; he could only bitterly endure being bullied.
Perhaps their energies just didn’t align; Yan Junyu had been at odds with Cui Pingan since the first day, constantly picking on him. Cui Pingan was no match, nearly driven to tears by Yan Junyu’s taunting after just a few words.
A few days had passed, and Cui Pingan had essentially beco Yan Junyu’s little brother. Although he didn’t have to wait on Yan Junyu’s every personal need, he couldn’t really object to the tasks Yan Junyu assigned to him.
Mo Yan had never ddled in the disputes between the two n, but this ti, upon seeing Yan Junyu bully others so cavalierly, she couldn’t help but take Cui Pingan’s side for the first ti, "Take care of your own business, it’s not like you don’t have hands or feet."
Yan Junyu caught a whiff of anger from her words, and as he ran through his recent actions in his mind, he couldn’t find anything that might have offended Mo Yan, which only added to his confusion, "Did you eat too many hot peppers today? Why are you being so sharp with your words?"
A lump ford in Mo Yan’s throat as she t Yan Junyu’s bewildered gaze, and suddenly she ca to her senses. The man before her knew nothing; even if he did, could she really force him to reciprocate Big Sister Dani’s affections? Regardless of how close Big Sister Dani was to her, she couldn’t force soone to do sothing so against their will.
Moreover, this man was not one she could coerce!
"I didn’t eat peppers at lunch, I just can’t stand to see you always bullying others. Also, do you find it interesting to pick on a child?"
A child?
Yan Junyu’s gaze fell on the equally speechless Cui Pingan, his lips twitching slightly, "He seems to be older than you, no? I find it quite amusing to bully him; otherwise, life would be so boring!"
"Boring?" Mo Yan glanced coolly at Yan Junyu, regretting his words, and issued another eviction notice, "I also think that Young Master Yan, having been accustod to the glamorous life, is not suited for the simplicity here. Since you’re bored, please leave!" So he wouldn’t hover around Big Sister Dani every day and sweep her off her feet.
If Yan Junyu knew Mo Yan’s thoughts, he would definitely cry "Injustice." It was always Dani who hovered around him, he never actively pursued any girl. Besides, even when bumping into her, he would rely nod and greet in consideration of Mo Yan, never once engaging in flirtatious banter, he was as proper as could be.
Of course, Young Master Yan didn’t know that, assuming Mo Yan was simply impatient with him staying at her ho and was looking for an excuse to send him away, he quickly attempted to save face by thickening his skin, "Liu Yang Village is wonderful; you won’t find a more beautiful and harmonious village, nor a better and more genial host than you. I have been very happy living here, and I am thinking of staying several more months before leaving."
If he stayed a few more months, it would be ti for New Year’s, and he would have to go back, whether he wanted to or not.
