At that mont, Shen Ji gazed intently into the courtyard, though it was unclear what or whom he saw, or what he heard, an uncontrollable smile spread across his gentle face, adding an unusual brilliance to an already handso visage.

Xiao Ruiyuan followed his gaze and saw Mo Yan feigning anger as she tugged on the ears of two creatures, his face darkened instantly, and his eyes, sharp as knives, shot daggers at Shen Ji.

Ever since he beca aware of Shen Ji as a "competitor," Xiao Ruiyuan had always viewed him in a poor light, yet he couldn’t deny that Shen Ji indeed t the Mo Family’s criteria for a son-in-law more closely than himself. He was by no ans a kind-hearted soul, nor was he inclined to play dirty behind the scenes, but with such an audacious man standing right in front of him, coveting the one he loved, he couldn’t help feeling a murderous impulse.

Unaware that he had been cast as the hypothetical enemy or of the dark thoughts of another, Shen Ji couldn’t take his eyes off the bright and dazzling woman in the courtyard, yet he felt that such peeping was not befitting of a gentleman and hastily averted his gaze, his fair cheeks quietly flushed with a touch of red...

Mo Yan was true to her word; during dinner, she indeed didn’t provide any food for the two fools.

Little Flower and Mao Tuan, the brothers in hardship, drooled over the table full of delicious dishes. With those shiny, bright eyes fixed on them, who could bear to eat?

Everyone knew they would not accept food from anyone other than Mo Yan, yet they couldn’t resist offering the tasty sauce-covered bones to them. The two creatures rely glanced longingly before turning their gazes back to their owner, knowing that with just a nod from her, they would soon be able to enjoy a good al.

Mo Yan’s expression remained unchanged, and she calmly continued to eat and drink. This ti, she was determined to teach the two simple-minded creatures a lesson; otherwise, if there were to be a next ti, she really would break her back, which was still sore and aching from cooking.

When everyone had finished eating and the dishes were cleared away, the two fools finally shifted their butts and watched with saliva dripping as Dabai and the Golden Beast feasted heartily.

After running a hundred laps around the yard, driven by unbearable hunger, Mao Tuan was sowhat better off, simply looking on eagerly, while Little Flower, with thicker skin, cautiously approached Dabai, hoping Dabai would share so food. But Dabai didn’t even spare a glance, elegantly finishing every last bit from the bowl, not even leaving a drop of soup behind.

Finally losing hope, Little Flower listlessly dragged its broom-like tail to a corner and curled up there, looking as pitiful as can be.

Seeing his own empty food bowl and acknowledging that his owner had no intention of feeding him, Mao Tuan too succumbed to despair. He slouched next to Little Flower and curled up his body, pressing his head into his stomach as if that could quiet the loud growling.

While everyone ward themselves by the fire, they held tantalizing roasted sweet potatoes, corn cobs, and other snacks, attempting to entice Little Flower and Mao Tuan, who remained unmoved, silently drooling over the roasted sausages in Mo Yan’s hands.

Mo Yan was a skilled cook, and her food was sweeter and more delicious than others. The children from the Han Family took a particular liking to it, sweetly calling her "Sister Yan," and receiving plenty of tasty treats as a result.

It was only when the children couldn’t eat anymore and were strictly ordered by the adults not to overeat for fear of upsetting their stomachs, that Mo Yan’s food basin began to fill up again.

As everyone went to their respective rooms to rest, Mo Yan, with two big basins filled with roasted sausages, at, sweet potatoes, and more, returned to her room with the four creatures. Under the hopeful gaze of Little Flower and Mao Tuan, she divided the two basins of food between them.

Little Flower and Mao Tuan ate with their eyes half-closed, blissfully as if they were about to take flight, their love for their owner soaring to new heights, seemingly forgetting it was the sa person who had punished them with a hundred laps and left them with hungry bellies earlier.

The world of foodies is truly beyond the understanding of ordinary people!

Mo Yan talked of punishnt, but how could she truly bear to starve them? Seeing the two creatures enjoying their al, she stroked their heads and stood up to go back to her room to make the bed, when she heard the creak of the ajar door being pushed open, and a long leg stepped inside.

anwhile, Shen Ji, residing in a guest room on the southern side of the Mo Family estate, heard a knock at his door. He quickly donned the clothes he had just removed and went to see who it was, finding Mo Qingze standing outside with a very kind look in his eyes.

Shen Ji’s eyelid twitched as he guessed at his friend’s intention while stepping aside to invite him in, "Brother Ziyu, please co in."

Mo Qingze nodded, smiling as he walked in. Once Shen Ji had closed the door, Mo Qingze casually asked, "Yun Jin has passed the imperial examination, may I know if there’s any arrangent at your ho?"

"I’m not sure what Brother Ziyu is referring to..." Shen Ji’s brow twitched slightly as he suppressed the surprise in his heart and responded with a smile.

Shen Ji was temperate but no fool. In the past, their interactions were mostly about academics or shared hobbies, and neither spoke of their family affairs. Tonight, Mo Qingze’s sudden visit and inquiry about his private matters obviously had another aning.
