As Chu Heng left, Mr. Liu, Han Zhiyun, and others secretly let out a sigh of relief, and their tense nerves gradually relaxed. No matter how humble and approachable Chu Heng was, his status was there, and no one dared to act recklessly in front of him.
Mr. Liu and Han Zhiyun were quite curious about the connection between the Mo Family and Chu Heng. Since Mo Qingze was leading Chu Heng and his people and was not present, they turned to inquire with Mo Yan.
Mo Yan fleshed out the previous explanations she had given to the villagers, adding a bit of polish, as the truth intertwined with lies were often hardest to distinguish.
After hearing her explanation, both also felt the coincidence was too great but harbored no suspicions. They were aware that Mo Yan was the Crown Prince’s lifesaver, but whether that was good or bad, no one could say for sure. If possible, maintaining distance from the Crown Prince was the wisest course of action.
A good while later, Mo Qingze returned to the main hall to continue entertaining the guests, while Xiao Ruiyuan and Yan Junyu stayed in the guest room and did not co over.
"Father, why were you gone so long? Was there sothing amiss?" Mo Yan saw her father had been away for such a long ti and wondered if there was sothing wrong in the guest room, so she casually asked.
Mo Qingze’s complexion shifted slightly, and the smile on his face was sowhat forced, "The Crown Prince asked so questions which led to a delay, there was nothing improper."
Mo Yan gave her father a thoughtful look and saw him shift his gaze away uncomfortably, then she smiled and said, "That’s good then."
With Mo Qingze, the head of the household, present, Mo Yan confidently went to the kitchen, where she saw that most of the dishes were ready and would be served as soon as the appointed ti arrived.
Just then, Liu Tinglan approached Mo Yan with a flushed face, and after hemming and hawing for quite so ti, was unable to articulate a complete sentence.
Mo Yan thought her close friend was too embarrassed to ntion "that ti of the month," and quickly took her to her own room, where she searched the cabinet for so supplies to spare.
Seeing what Mo Yan had passed her, Liu Tinglan spat with embarrassnt and annoyance, "I just got over mine recently, what are you giving this for?"
Mo Yan was taken aback, realizing she had misunderstood, and rolled her eyes, "If it’s not ’that ti’ for you, then why were you blushing and beating around the bush earlier?"
But when Liu Tinglan heard this, the cheeks that had almost returned to normal flushed a burning red again, as tempting as a ripe peach, making one especially want to take a bite.
This appearance clearly indicated that spring was stirring in her heart.
Realizing this in an instant, Mo Yan asked with a face full of gossip, "There aren’t many eligible bachelors who’ve co to our house today, so who has caught your eye?"
Expecting such a direct question would cause her friend to beco angry and hit her before saying anything, Mo Yan instead saw Liu Tinglan just give her a glare, fidgeting with her fingers, and shyly said, "It’s, it’s the man you asked to give the ointnt to!"
Feeling that was not sufficient, she hurriedly pressed on, "Who is he? What’s his relation to your family?"
Mo Yan’s eyes widened, and she felt as though she’d been struck by lightning. She had never imagined her friend would take an interest in the candidate her father had in mind for a son-in-law. Even if she had no inappropriate thoughts about Shen Ji, it still felt odd in her heart.
However, Shen Ji did seem decent, and if he was worthy of a lifelong commitnt and could develop a proper relationship with her good friend, it wouldn’t be a bad match.
With this in mind, Mo Yan recounted to her friend the details about Shen Ji that her father had shared earlier, only to see Liu Tinglan’s expression gradually grow dim.
"He is an only child, and also talented, with a bright future ahead of him. How could he be content with being a son-in-law?" murmured Liu Tinglan.
She really did have a good impression of the man she had t once, but to say she liked him very much would be untrue. It was simply that if she were to marry, she would prefer soone talented and likable, rather than a complete stranger with whom she had no emotional connection and whose temperant might clash with hers.
