Young Master Yan couldn’t suppress the jealousy within, an emotion that had just sprouted before being forcibly cut off, deeply buried in his heart—it was as if it were furiously trying to break free, to sprout from beneath the soil. He gazed at the woman before him, her face showing confusion, and he lowered his eyes, concealing all of his emotions: she knew nothing...

Mo Yan looked at Yan Junyu’s unpleasant expression, completely at a loss as to where his imagination had taken him, and suddenly felt that n, when lost in wild thoughts, could be even more terrifying than won! She thought she should say sothing, but intuition told her that at the mont, the more she spoke, the worse it would beco, so she decided it was best just to stay by his side.

Yan Junyu’s lapse of composure didn’t last long, and soon, a careless smile hung on his face again, "I’ve heard your perfunctory explanations countless tis. I’m quite angry now, so as a punishnt, you have to keep company in conversation until I feel better!"

Mo Yan was both annoyed and amused by his rascal-like deanor and asked in a huff, "What do you want to talk about?"

This question actually stumped Yan Junyu. He simply wanted to keep her there, as if that alone could fill the emptiness in his heart, making whether they actually talked or not seem secondary.

Mo Yan, looking at the confusion on his face, suddenly felt a bit of pity for him. It was like soone who had many confidants yet still felt lonely inside. They wouldn’t confide their troubles to friends and family but were extrely afraid of being alone, hoping for soone’s company, even if it were silent, just to cheer them up.

This man was not as incompetent and profligate as the outside world made him out to be. He intentionally presented this image to others, and surely he had his reasons! Suppressing his true nature for so long, over ti, he probably couldn’t even distinguish whether that was a facade or his real face.

Seeing the pity on Mo Yan’s face, Yan Junyu instantly bristled, wanting to shout out that he, the son of the Duke from Duke’s Mansion, had a higher status than any peers in Jing City, and no one, despite the nurous nobles in the city, commanded the affection of both The Emperor and the Empress Dowager like he did. He could walk brazenly through Jing City—where was he pitiable?

Yet, when the words reached his lips, he couldn’t utter a single one. What did it matter if he was the respected Young Master Yan or if he was deeply favored by the emperor? If he couldn’t do what he truly desired, even if he were a dragon lurking in the abyss, he would still be trapped in that tiny space, unable to swim freely as he wished...

Yan Junyu’s unusual silence left Mo Yan sowhat at a loss and unsure of how to comfort him. She patted Little Flower, who was lying idly on the ground, yawning, signaling it to cheer up its forr master.

Little Flower, upon receiving the signal, sat up and nudged Yan Junyu’s hand, which was on his leg, with its cool nose. Then, it rested its large head on his thigh, gazing at him unwaveringly, its eyes calm and gentle.

Although Little Flower was a beast, even before it had been with Mo Yan, it was smarter than the common wolf, no less intelligent than a seven or eight-year-old child. Having spent a few years with Yan Junyu, its "forr master," no one understood his thoughts better than it did. In the past, when Yan Junyu was upset, Little Flower would comfort him in this very way.

Indeed, Little Flower’s actions brought a touched expression to Yan Junyu’s face. As he had done so often before, he lifted his hand, intending to stroke its large head to show it he was alright, but as his hand reached halfway, the presence of another person, the girl who had stirred different emotions in him, suddenly caused him to change the caress into a shove, almost pushing the unprepared Little Flower onto the ground.

He glared at the bewildered Little Flower with a look of disdain, and said fiercely, "You haven’t had a bath in days, you’re filthy all over and you dare to rub against ? Don’t you know I have a fear of dirt?"

Mo Yan, unaware that Yan Junyu’s pride was at play and not wanting to show weakness in front of her, which was why he had pushed Little Flower away, saw the dog looking at her with a wronged expression. Although she was quite annoyed with Yan Junyu, it was not her place to say anything, so she could only silently comfort Little Flower by patting its head.

Yan Junyu was also extrely vexed. The good atmosphere had been ruined by his own foolish actions...
