The situation was resolved smoothly, and the Mo Family didn’t linger. They were about to leave with Tang Xin, but Mrs. Yu, still unwilling to accept the outco, blocked their way. She outrageously declared that Tang Xin was no longer part of the Tang Family and was not allowed to take even a single thread with her, forcing Tang Xin to strip off all her clothes and socks right there.

Such an excessive demand shocked Mo Yan and his companions, and even the villagers who had not yet dispersed felt that Mrs. Yu had gone too far. They didn’t care that this was the Tang Family’s private affair, and tried to persuade Mrs. Yu to stop. But Mrs. Yu wouldn’t listen to anything, recklessly tearing at Tang Xin’s garnts.

Tang Xin’s days in the Tang Family had been tough, with her clothes old and threadbare, the only garnt keeping her warm was a cotton-padded jacket previously given to her by Xin Er. This jacket had also attracted the envious eyes of Mrs. Yu and her daughters; if it hadn’t been for Tang Xin’s firm refusal and her excuse that it was only lent by Xin Er to be returned later, it would have been taken from her already.

The tattered clothes could not withstand Mrs. Yu’s forceful tugging. If Mo Yan hadn’t acted quickly by taking off his own leather jacket to wrap Tang Xin in, the young girl would have been exposed for all to see.

Even so, this incident was a trendous humiliation for Tang Xin. The young girl glared fiercely at the relentless Mrs. Yu, her eyes filled with deep resentnt.

In the end, it was Xin Er who ran back ho to fetch a set of her own clothes and shoes for Tang Xin, which put an end to the farce. Once Tang Xin changed into the new clothes, Mo Yan and his companions left with her amidst Mrs. Yu’s venomous curses and the villagers’ sighs, exiting the oppressive environnt of the Tang ho.

In the room, Mo Yan carefully cleaned Tang Xin’s cheek wound with a clean cotton cloth dampened with Spirit Spring Water. The cut wasn’t big, just the size of a little fingernail, but Tang Xin had pressed hard, creating a hole. Fortunately, with the Spirit Spring Water, regular cleaning ant it was unlikely to leave a scar.

"Sister, this wound... we should still go to the city to find a doctor,"

Xin Er, unaware of the situation, seeing how deep the wound was, thought Tang Xin was disfigured. Tears stread down her face, wishing she could apply all the ointnt from the bottle onto her dear friend.

Upon hearing this, Tang Xin felt a warmth inside and comforted Xin Er by taking her hand, "With such a small injury, it’s not worth the long trip to the city to see a doctor. Once the wound heals and the scar fades, a bit of makeup will cover it up, and it won’t be noticeable."

From the mont she picked up those scissors, she hadn’t expected to retain her looks. All she wanted was to escape from that living hell; even if it ant scarring her face or its complete ruin, she would have no regrets.

"No, we can overlook other places, but a facial wound necessitates a doctor’s attention." Xin Er was incredulous. Such a deep wound was sure to leave a noticeable scar, one that makeup simply couldn’t conceal.

Mo Yan put the cloth aside, took the ointnt from Xin Er, and while applying it to Tang Xin, he said, "We can’t travel by carriage on the roads right now; it’s not convenient to go back and forth. When the weather clears and the snow lts, we’ll find a good doctor to take a proper look."

Seeing her sister’s composed deanor, as if she wasn’t worried at all, Xin Er’s previously anxious and tense heart relaxed considerably. Seeing her good friend agree, she consented as well.

After the ointnt was applied, Mo Yan wrapped the wound in a clean white cotton cloth to protect it from the cold, which could prevent the wound from healing well if exposed to the wind.

Throughout the entire process, even though the pain made her forehead break into a cold sweat, Tang Xin just bit her teeth and endured without crying out in pain, which made her appear all the more pitiable.

Just then, Zhenzhen ran in and saw that Tang Xin’s wound had been treated. She called them out to have lunch.

When they arrived in the dining hall, the dishes had been served, steaming hot and emitting inviting aromas, which made everyone who had been shoveling snow all morning involuntarily swallow with hunger.
