She had thought that the sleeping pills would have, at least, so effect, however, she was plagued with nightmares all night long, filled with endless warfare and countless dead at the border.

Touching her forehead, drenched in sweat, Mo Yan sat despondently on the bed. She knew that until the issue of the moldy grain was resolved, the nightmares would not end. If things continued this way, those who ate the moldy grain might not suffer much, but she was already being driven mad by the nightmares.

However, the moldy grain issue involved too many people. She feared that picking just one suspect at random could lead to her family’s ruin. To resolve the moldy grain issue without causing revenge against her family seed an impossible task, even more difficult than ascending to the heavens.

The next day, Mo Yan drank three large bowls of sleeping pills, but the nightmares continued unabated; on the third day, Mo Yan could no longer bear it and started to rack her brain for a solution to the moldy grain issue.

The Mo Family had neither power nor influence and couldn’t confront the forces behind the moldy grain issue head-on. Mo Yan had considered asking for help from Yan Junyu or Xiao Ruiyuan, but she wasn’t certain if these two n were involved in the moldy grain issue.

If they were involved, rashly revealing the issue could spell doom for her family before even addressing the moldy grain; if they were not, it was still uncertain whether these two would take action.

After all, one was a senior official at the Court, and the other an Aristocratic Young Master. With so many people’s interests tangled in the moldy grain issue, they might not be willing to offend those influential figures for the sake of ordinary citizens who hold no significance to them.

After much deliberation, Mo Yan decided to probe the situation first. If these two n were not involved with the moldy grain, she would lay everything out in the open, especially those dreams she had been having. She didn’t believe they were rely dreams; if the moldy grain continued to spread unchecked, there was a high likelihood that those nightmares could beco reality.

If the two n were uninvolved and still unwilling to help, perhaps those nightmares could yet be of so use.

With this thought in mind, Mo Yan picked up her brush and wrote a letter to both Xiao Ruiyuan and Yan Junyu.

She only ntioned in the letter that she had seen soone buying moldy rice at the rice shop, which almost led to a dispute. Fearing that she and the villagers might also purchase moldy rice and suffer from it, she hoped they could help out by checking which rice shops had good reputations and never sold moldy rice, so she could buy rice with peace of mind.

The letter was full of loopholes and would not withstand scrutiny, but Mo Yan wanted just that— a mix of truth and pretense. That sa day, she went to Huixian Residence and handed the letter to the Punishing Shopkeeper, asking him to pass it on to Yan Junyu.

As for the letter to Xiao Ruiyuan, she only knew he was the commander of WuChengBingMaSi, a place she couldn’t easily enter, so she tucked the letter into her pouch and had Little Flower deliver it on her behalf.

That very afternoon, the two letters reached Xiao Ruiyuan and Yan Junyu, respectively. Neither man took to heart the moldy rice issue ntioned in the letter.

They knew which outlets the Court’s musty, moldy rice had gone to and didn’t think it was a matter of great concern. Nevertheless, as one was interested in Mo Yan and the other had a cooperative relationship with her, they both prudently sent people to various rice shops to investigate which ones were selling moldy rice and which ones never did.

After making sure, Yan Junyu handed the list over to the Punishing Shopkeeper. The Punishing Shopkeeper personally made a trip to the Mo Family, delivered the list to Mo Yan, and in return, took away a jar of Spirit Spring Water.

Mo Yan opened the envelope; inside was a sheet of paper filled with the nas of several rice shops, and below was a teasing remark suggesting that moldy rice was cheap and that if one got diarrhea from eating it, it could be seen as a detox.

Reflecting on her conversation with the Punishing Shopkeeper, she couldn’t discern anything unusual. Thus, it appeared that Yan Junyu was aware of the moldy rice being sold on the market but didn’t believe that eating moldy rice would lead to serious consequences, which was sowhat disappointing to her.

Just as Mo Yan anxiously awaited a reply from Xiao Ruiyuan, the man himself made a personal visit...
