In the Space, the entirely lustrous white egg stood motionless on the Jade Table. Dazzling golden light burst forth from the Nine Relics, winding around before swiftly vanishing into the rit Pearl, turning from gold to a magnificent red. The once transparent pearl gradually beca etched with fine, dense red veins.
Before long, the rit Pearl was covered with red veins more than halfway. At this mont, the egg that had been still finally changed. A gentle halo flowed out from its shell, drawn by an invisible force, tentatively seeping toward the rit Pearl.
When the halo touched the rit Pearl, the surface of the pearl exploded with a bright light, emitting a pleasant, clear chant with a "buzz," which then scattered across the vast Space.
The Origin Power was "ruthlessly" repelled, but Xuetuan was not impatient, instead bouncing excitedly. It circled the Jade Table several tis with exhilaration.
If it had been before, attempting to probe the rit Pearl with Origin Power, the rit Pearl would not only devour the Origin Power, but it would also draw even more through this thread of power until it beca a "useless ball" devoid of Spiritual Power.
Now that the rit Pearl directly bounced off this strand of Origin Power, it signaled that the ti for Xuetuan’s Du Jie had co, and even though it may suffer during the trial, there was no danger to its life, and its transformation into human form was almost assured.
Xuetuan stared "unblinkingly" at the rit Pearl, ready to break through the Space and undergo its transforming trial as soon as the rit Pearl was complete.
Just as the last blank on the rit Pearl was filled and the Space was about to upgrade, Mo Yan’s voice resounded in Xuetuan’s consciousness, who replied excitedly, "Yanyan, quick, take the Six Beasts and hide further away, I’m about to co out."
Feeling Xuetuan’s extre joy, Mo Yan knew the trial would be without issue and finally felt relieved. She didn’t say much, imdiately moving to a mid-mountain slope with the Six Beasts. The slope was all bare rock with no tall trees to attract divine lightning, yet it offered a clear view of the scene of Xuetuan’s ordeal.
"Yanyan, spread your right palm open, and no matter what you see later, do not be afraid." Once Xuetuan confird that Mo Yan’s location was safe, it reminded her, then began to rev up its Origin Power, ready to break through the Space in one fell swoop.
"Mhm!"
Mo Yan nodded emphatically without hesitation, stretched out her right hand and spread it, suddenly a beam of golden light rose from the palm, piercing into the pitch-dark sky, illuminating the entire forest.
Subsequently, the Ancient Jade Mark ca to life, rising gradually from the palm, floating in mid-air, and reverted to the original form of the Ancient Jade—the true body of Xuetuan!
Mo Yan was nearly blinded by the intense golden light emanating from the Ancient Jade and struggled to shield her eyes from the direct radiance, squinting at the Ancient Jade enveloped in golden light, gradually drifting towards the ocean-like lake surface.
At that mont, completely locked onto the Ancient Jade, Mo Yan was unaware that the entire Yuhua Mountain erupted with excitent the instant the golden light appeared!
Whether they were creatures with the bloodline of Ancient Divine Beasts or ordinary birds and beasts, all watched the golden light soaring into the sky with uncertainty, not knowing whether to approach or flee far away, and could only stay still at their spots.
Before long, Xuetuan enveloped by the golden light drifted to the center of the lake, seemingly fulfilling its mission. The golden radiance slowly dimd, and the Ancient Jade revealed its true form.
At this ti, dark clouds gathered in the sky, quickly obscuring the starry heavens, making the whole world even darker, leaving only the faint golden light above the lake.
The mountain rain was imminent, and the world fell silent, not even the sound of wind could be heard. The animals previously drawn by the golden light now sensed sothing wrong and instinctively fled far away, and for a while, they wouldn’t approach the lake again.
"Xuetuan, you have to be okay!" Mo Yan clenched her fingers tightly, her gaze never leaving the lake’s center as she silently prayed in her heart. Even knowing that Xuetuan was confident in withstanding the thunder tribulation, she couldn’t suppress her inner worry, watching the spot on the lake where the golden light shone, not daring to blink.
Thick clouds weighed down, as though the sky might collapse at any mont. Xuetuan, now in its true body, silently "gazed" up at the thundercloud-filled sky, quietly revving its Origin Power to face the upcoming Nine Heavens Divine Lightning.
"Boom rumble―"
A lightning bolt as thick as an arm tore through the layers of black clouds, striking down like a fierce flying serpent, and hit the Ancient Jade hard, sparking and emitting a dazzling burst of sparks.
"Hum―"
The Ancient Jade let out a faint hum, yet the spot where the purple lightning had struck bore no marks, and Xuetuan dared not be careless, bracing for the second, even more powerful, strike of lightning.
The unity of the nine tribulations ant that the Space had to endure nine upgrades and face nine bolts of Divine Lightning. For Xuetuan, the next eight bolts of lightning would each be an accumulation of the one before. If Xuetuan could successfully withstand the final strike—the Nine Heavens Divine Lightning—it would complete its tamorphosis, transforming into human form and thereafter freely roam the world.
"Boom rumble—" Another bolt of purple lightning struck down directly, lighting up the dark night sky as if it wanted to tear the night apart and shake the whole world.
The golden radiance enveloping the Ancient Jade seed unable to withstand the power of the thunder, gradually dissipating into specks of golden light that scattered away and disappeared, causing Mo Yan’s heart to wrench. She wished she could sprout wings and rush up to protect the Ancient Jade, to protect Xuetuan.
To Xuetuan, she was its master; to her, Xuetuan was family. If Xuetuan were to encounter any mishap... she dared not imagine what she would do!
The relentless thunder paid no heed to Mo Yan’s thoughts, dutifully continuing its mission. In the Cultivation World, the grander the thunder’s might, the more advantageous it was for a Spirit Beast undergoing the transformation tribulation. But in the mortal realm, such a tribulation could be deadly.
The Six Beasts watched the sky lit by lightning with unwavering gaze, worried and envious of Xuetuan at the sa ti. As creatures with Spiritual Wisdom and the bloodline of Ancient Divine Beasts, who wouldn’t desire to gain even greater power and live as long as the heavens?
Even in the Cultivation World, it was imnsely difficult for lower-level Spirit Beasts to overco the tribulation and transform, let alone in this mortal realm, with its scarceness of Spiritual Energy and prohibitions against beasts gaining sentience. Without Mo Yan, they wouldn’t even be able to leave this forest.
Being granted freedom or even extending their lifespans was already an extraordinary opportunity. The Six Beasts were content; seeing Xuetuan undergo the tribulation, they felt more worry and envy than any improper thoughts.
"Crack— Sizzle—"
In the sky, lightning flashed and thunder roared, casting the lake into brilliant light. Amid the concern of one human and six beasts, Xuetuan steadfastly endured the eighth thunder tribulation. The Ancient Jade continuously broke, reford, broke again, and reford...
Until the ninth Divine Lightning began to brew, giving Xuetuan a brief mont to catch its breath. It silently gathered nearly half of the Origin Power it had intentionally reserved and braced itself to face the final blow with all its might.
Success or failure hinged on this mont!
Above in the high skies, the dark clouds gathered like a black vortex, conjuring a terrifying power that lood over the vast expanse of the lake. The swirl, dark and profound, seed like an insatiable abyss eager to devour everything.
Soon, the Nine Heavens Divine Lightning took form. Beneath the black clouds, a bolt of lightning as thin as a thumb, seemingly finer than any previous thunder, yet the pressure it emitted was more horrifying than the previous eight bolts combined.
Mo Yan and Xuetuan shared a deep connection, and Mo Yan keenly felt Xuetuan’s tension. Yet, she couldn’t utter a word of encouragent for fear of distracting her companion. All Mo Yan could do was hold her breath, fixing her eyes on the impending Divine Lightning, praying to God that Xuetuan would be granted a way out and successfully overco the tribulation.
However, what happened next made Mo Yan feel the urge to curse.
In the sky, the thumb-thick Nine Heavens Divine Lightning, rcilessly unleashing its apocalyptic energy, suddenly and unbelievably veered in trajectory just an inch away from the Ancient Jade. It brushed past the Ancient Jade, charging directly towards Mo Yan on the mid-mountain slope.
The sudden change of events flustered not only Mo Yan and the Six Beasts but also Xuetuan, who, prepared for the lightning’s strike, found its mind blank, utterly incapable of any reaction.
Watching the crackling Divine Lightning cheerfully heading her way, Mo Yan’s reason told her to flee quickly. Yet, her feet felt as though they were fixed in place, immovable.
Fortunately, Mo Yan had weathered many storms over the years. Even if she truly fled, could she outrun the mightiest Divine Lightning? Forcing herself to remain calm, she yelled at the petrified Six Beasts with all her might, "Run, quickly run!"
Intuition told Mo Yan that this Divine Lightning was targeting her; escape was improbable. Her only hope was for the Six Beasts to leave promptly, to avoid this unexpected disaster from affecting them as well.
"Ao—"
"Roar—"
Hearing Mo Yan’s resolute cry, the Six Beasts turned to her and collectively let out a heaven-shaking roar. They did not move an inch.
Despite the differences between humans and beasts, over twenty years of companionship had created bonds with no trace of falsehood. At this life-and-death mont, the Six Beasts willingly chose to stay by Mo Yan’s side to face divine retribution. Even if death lay ahead, they held no fear, unable to watch Mo Yan face death with their eyes open.
