Xiao Ruiyuan had made up his mind to get married next January. Taking advantage of the fact that he didn’t need to clock in at the Governnt Office these few days, he poured his heart into persuading Mo Yan. Mo Yan originally felt that it was no big deal whether the wedding was sooner or later, but in the end, she couldn’t resist Xiao Ruiyuan’s intense offensive and finally nodded in agreent.

On this day of relaxation, Mo Qingze returned ho with his wife and children and expressed their wish to get married sooner rather than later.

As for Xiao Ruiyuan, the son-in-law, Mo Qingze had gone from initial dislike to reluctant acceptance, and now he had co to treat him almost like a son.

The delay of the marriage was initially ant to be the final test for Xiao Ruiyuan. Now that he had t all of his expectations and his daughter had personally spoken up, there was no point in delaying further, so after so consideration, he quickly agreed.

Xiao Ruiyuan himself hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly. Caught by surprise, he imdiately took out the almanac he carried with him and respectfully pointed out three auspicious days in January, asking his father-in-law to choose.

Looking at this almanac that was so out of sync with the atmosphere, Mo Yan covered her face with both hands and silently turned away, not wanting to face the teasing looks of her family.

The corner of Mo Qingze’s eye twitched as he teased, "Well, you’re certainly well-prepared."

Xiao Ruiyuan replied without changing his expression, "For such an important matter, Hanzhang dares not be careless."

Upon hearing this, Mo Qingze didn’t know what to say, so he turned his attention to the three auspicious days, finally pointing to the soonest one on January twelfth, "Let’s go with this day then. Will you be able to prepare in ti?"

Xiao Ruiyuan was completely taken aback by this date, and a rare expression of gratitude appeared on his usually stoic face: "Thank you, father-in-law, for your blessing. I will make sure everything is ready before the New Year."

Mo Qingze snorted. The change in address was smooth, but he certainly wouldn’t give any changing fee!

The wedding date was thus set. However, the necessary formalities still had to be followed. Xiao Ruiyuan picked another auspicious day from the almanac, and with Mo Qingze’s approval, he designated this day to formally set the wedding date with the matchmaker and inform relatives and friends.

Xiao Ruiyuan got what he desired and seed to walk on air. On his first day back from leave, when he clocked in at the Governnt Office, his subordinates were shocked to find their stern General smiling at them!

To say he smiled might be an exaggeration; Xiao Ruiyuan’s deanor simply softened considerably compared to usual. It was as if the ice that had solidified day after day on the surface of a lake had finally lted, and although the water remained chilly, it emanated a kind of gentle warmth.

Learning that this change was thanks to the future General’s Wife and Lady Marquis, everyone marveled that even heroes find it hard to overco the trials of love, and that not even their steely General was exempt. They were all now very curious about the future General’s Wife.

As the end of the year approached, affairs at court beca increasingly busy, and there were plenty of matters to attend to in the military as well. Nevertheless, no matter how busy he was, whenever Xiao Ruiyuan returned to the General Mansion, he took it upon himself to prepare the betrothal gifts for the Mo Family, and even the bridal chamber was being decorated slowly and ticulously according to his wishes by Xiao Eleven and others.

According to the traditions of the Hou Mansion, the betrothal gift for the future Family Head’s mother should not exceed one hundred and fifty carriages. Due to Mo Yan’s special status and the rights she enjoyed as a mber of the Royal family equal to a Commandery Princess, a dowry of up to one hundred and eighty carriages was deed appropriate without going beyond propriety.

With a legacy spanning over two hundred years, the wealth accumulated by the Lord Wei Yuan House from generation to generation was vast. Even ignoring the overall wealth, just Xiao Ruiyuan’s personal savings had reached an astonishing level.

Thus, with less than three months to go until the wedding, preparing a betrothal gift of one hundred and fifty carriages posed no difficulty for Xiao Ruiyuan. However, wanting to give his fiancée the very best, he took a long ti to select from the treasures in the vaults of the Lord Wei Yuan House and his personal reserves, finally settling on eighty carriages of gifts that were barely satisfactory.

For the nearly half of the gift that remained, he planned to dispatch his idle manpower to various places. In the next two-plus months, he would supplent the betrothal gifts bit by bit.

While his master’s extravagant behavior left Xiao Eleven and the others feeling forcefully fed dog food, they were also eager to take on this task. They were determined to find the finest items to add to their future Lady’s betrothal gift, hoping that if they were fortunate enough to catch the future Lady’s eye, they would have soone to help put out fires should they ever unintentionally anger their master!

All of this, Xiao Ruiyuan never told Mo Yan, who naturally had no idea that soone was going through so much trouble to give her the best possible betrothal gift.
