Xiao Ruiyuan didn’t refuse, rose to his feet and walked to the woman’s side, extending his warm, large hand to take her small one.

Mo Yan lowered her head, secretly pursing her lips in a smile where Xiao Ruiyuan couldn’t see, willingly allowing the person beside her to lead her toward the front courtyard.

When they passed the place where they had been worshiping the Moon God, Mo Yan suddenly stopped and, looking at the man’s flawless profile, asked curiously, "Did you make a wish just now while worshiping the Moon God?"

Xiao Ruiyuan didn’t speak for a long ti, and just when Mo Yan thought he wouldn’t verbally admit it and thus tacitly agree, a vague monosyllable ca from his throat. "Mm."

The smile on Mo Yan’s face grew bigger, as she teasingly laughed at the awkward person beside her: "I made a wish too. Does this an we’re truly in tune with each other?"

Xiao Ruiyuan suddenly turned his head, locking eyes with Mo Yan, his gaze revealing hopes he hadn’t noticed himself.

But Mo Yan wasn’t looking at him; instead, she continued to walk forward, pulling on his hand.

Xiao Ruiyuan stood still without moving, and with a slight force from his long arm, he pulled the unsuspecting Mo Yan into his embrace. He stared intently at the person in his arms, his voice deep, "What wish did Yanyan make?"

Mo Yan didn’t answer imdiately, her delicate white fingers twisting in the black hair that hung in front of his chest, she retorted with a question: "What wish did you make? Tell first, and then I’ll tell you mine."

Xiao Ruiyuan, looking at Mo Yan brimming with anticipation, felt a sudden tenderness in his heart. Although making wishes to the Moon God wasn’t befitting of a man, if it made his beloved woman smile, what could be wrong with sharing?

With this in mind, Xiao Ruiyuan gently kissed Mo Yan’s forehead, his expression solemn as he said, "Under the Moon God, I pledged to join with Yanyan in lifelong matrimony, to cherish you with happiness throughout your life!"

Her eyes suddenly grew hot, and Mo Yan’s vision blurred. Holding back her tears, she pretended discontentnt and pounded on the man’s chest, "I made a vow to the Moon God to spend eternity with you, but you only promised one life. That’s not fair, not fair at all!"

The punches which landed on his body were insignificant, but Xiao Ruiyuan’s heart was fiercely wrenched. What rit or virtue did he have, to receive a promise of eternity from the person before him? He always thought that eting her in this lifeti, winning her heart, had already exhausted all his luck; yet, it seed he could be a bit greedier.

Looking at the person in front of him, motionless as a block of wood, Mo Yan felt a sudden irritation. She had already been so bold in her declaration, couldn’t this man give her any response? Even a smile towards her would spare her the feeling of being so presumptuous!

Thinking that perhaps this man didn’t fancy her as much as she fancied him, Mo Yan’s head drooped in a mont of weakness, the sensation of loss flooding her. Quietly, she let go of Xiao Ruiyuan’s hand, not wanting to speak another word to him.

But the instant Mo Yan turned around, her left hand was clasped tightly. Before she could react, she was already on her knees, and she clearly heard the man’s deep pledge, "Upon the heavens above and the Moon God as my witness! Today I, Xiao Ruiyuan, swear here and now to wait only for Yanyan through all my lifetis. Should I break this oath, on the bank of Netherworld, may I never enter the cycle of reincarnation..."

Upon hearing this, Mo Yan’s face changed dramatically, and she rose to cover his mouth, "How can you make such a dreadful vow? I wasn’t truly mad at you!"

A vow to never enter the cycle of reincarnation was more dreadful than soul dispersal. To rember one’s life yet wait alone, for thousands of years, on the bank of Netherworld, watching as past relatives, lovers, and friends were reborn again and again.

Such a hopeless wait was the cruelest of all!

Xiao Ruiyuan gently removed Mo Yan’s hand, moonlight-filled eyes reflecting only her image: "Death is not to be feared; my only fear is no longer waiting for you. If one day I fail you, this would be the best punishnt for !"
