Chapter 89: So words

I’ve seen the recent comnts, and I think I’ve grasped the issues everyone has been pointing out.

First off, I’m not a seasoned author, eh. Before this, I would submit articles on realistic subjects to magazines or public accounts, making a few hundred yuan for a piece. Just last month, I happened to be reading a family saga about Immortal Cultivation, and I thought, since I didn’t have much going on, I’d give writing a try, if only to polish my writing skills.

I casually outlined a draft and, following my preferences, ca up with a few nas without giving much thought to generational hierarchies and the like. To my surprise, after a few days, I received a ssage about a contract, followed by the first round of recomndations, the second round, the third round, and now, incredibly, I’ve made it through the fourth round. I really didn’t expect that. This book was started on a whim, so the beginning was indeed very casual, and there was a sense of innate deficiency.

Even now, this character who’s not quite the protagonist was initially just my way of approaching a family narrative where the whole clan, rather than an individual, should be the focal point. So, I decided to start with a Magic Artifact within the family. I didn’t ponder too much, but now, it kind of restricts

as I write.

This book won’t aim for thrilling plot points. Honestly, after 20 years of reading, I’ve beco both tired and jaded. I’ve picked up the pen because the current thrilling literature no longer captivates , and my aim is to try my best to convey the characters I create.

But it’s tough. One or two characters are manageable, but to depict over a dozen distinct and vivid characters, I really don’t know if I can achieve it. All I can say is that I’ll try my best. My goal isn’t to make this book popular or achieve any sort of remarkable success; I just want to do my utmost to complete it.

So readers have pointed out that without a clear protagonist, the story feels disjointed and lacks imrsion, relying solely on the supporting characters’ traits and the writing style to reluctantly draw readers in, resulting in an outsider’s perspective. Indeed, this is a difficult problem to fix, and I don’t have a good solution right now. I’ll just keep writing, and perhaps as I do, I may develop my own style and thods.

I’m truly sorry to readers who were looking forward to a purely thrilling tale, and also to those who were hoping for a story about Artifact Spirits and behind-the-scenes masterminds. This is my first book, a family saga where the group is the main character.

I’m not concerned with how this book performs, nor whether it fits the typical web novel tropes. I’m just looking to see through the growth, flourishing, and decay of these dozens of characters with all of you. Maybe my next book will incorporate all the experience I’ve gathered and truly beco a qualified web novel.

Since the book is about to be listed, I’ve been babbling so much. The next significant plot is also coming up in the next few days, I assu. I’m worried that readers who lose interest might subscribe and waste their money, so I thought I’d give a heads-up.

Last but not least: about updates

I’m terribly sorry, but I’ve only managed to squeeze out two updates upon listing, since it’s a part-ti gig for

and barely making two updates a day is quite strenuous. That’s why I haven’t been able to produce a stockpile of Chapters... QAQ If nothing unforeseen happens, after going public, it will still be 4000 words a day at 55~ Honestly, as a newbie, I write really slowly... I apologize once again.
