Adam checked his pip-boy clock. The day was almost over. Originally he was going to ask the group how they managed to find him so fast. After all, he had only woken up from being knocked out a short ti ago. However he understood now it was not that they found him quickly, but that he was knocked out for far longer than expected.
Not expecting anyone to show up to find him, Baxter had Adam brought to the warehouse and probably just waited until he woke up. That or the transport, which was probably done stealthily, since carrying his unconscious body out the front gate would be too obvious, had taken a while. In either case he was glad he was rescued. Baxter seed… far different than he expected, he still had a lot of thoughts to sort out with this new information, however he did not seem needlessly cruel. Sothing in his gut told him that. It was hard to put in words. But it was the way Baxter had looked at him as he was cutting him free of his binds… like a man who had suffered so much feeling happy that a child he knows doesn't have to suffer his fate? Again, hard to put into words.
For the mont though Adam was content to just let the matter lie. Mr. Cantelli's reaction was unexpected, but so long as it did not make them enemies he was fine not to push the issue. However Salvatore was acting strange ever since he learned Adam was Baxter's clone. There was definitely sothing going on there and since they were friends and partners he needed to clear up any doubts he might be having.
"Salvatore, what are you doing here anyway? Weren't you training the ghouls?" Adam asked Salvatore who seed deeply lost in thought.
"Hm?" He muttered before turning to look at Adam again. "Oh, um… yeah I finished that a bit ago, I am now with Chuck. We headed to Midway first, and was around when I heard you got taken…" Salvatore said, uncharacteristically distracted by sothing. Clearly he was not yet fully sorted with his thoughts. Adam would give him ti. They didn't need to talk about it now, not in front of everyone else. Salvatore was a private man, Adam was fine to bring this up at a later point. If he had the ti he could talk with him soon, but he did not have the ti, not with the impending battle to co. Plus Salvatore was busy with Chuck at the mont. No, unfortunately this would have to wait until later.
The group was let into Midway without so much as a break in stride and Mr. Cantelli and The Guild mbers broke off without a word. Salvatore gave Adam a nod and then paused for a mont.
"Be careful kid, Baxter is… not a good man…" Salvatore said before he stared at Adam for a mont and then he quickly turned around and left, obviously not in the mood for a greater chat.
"Well~ No one would ever say you don't live an exciting life, would they Adam?" Eve teased.
Adam sighed and chuckled, deciding to let his worries about Salvatore go for now, as well as his ominous final words.
"I do get involved in so insane events, don't I?"
"Id say." Mira said, disapprovingly. "You getting kidnapped was not in my list of activities for the day. I hope you appreciate all the effort we went for you today." Mira continued, though it was clear she was just teasing now.
"I think all is well since he was found uninjured." Deccanus added with a nod.
"Rae is happy to have helped!" Rae said with a spin.
"Alright, well today was bunk, but I would still like to leave to et with War tomorrow if everyone is on board with that." Adam asked the group to which he got satisfactory answers from everyone. Adam was the one to nod this ti.
"Alright, then I'm going to get so sleep, we can set out tomorrow."
The rest of the night passed without issue, Adam had a nice al for 44 caps, a hot shower, and went right to bed.
The next day began with Adam asking Jay if the shells were in yet, however they still had not arrived. Though he was assured they would arrive by the end of the day at latest. However Adam didn't want to wait until the end of the day, he was on a ti table that ant mission failure when War lost the war with pestilence. He had to leave today. He would just have to return to Midway after the eting rather than going ho.
Grabbing a breakfast to go for 36 caps and gathering up his allies, Eve, Mira, Deccanus, and Rae he set out in his APC to head to War's territory. Ideally he would have liked to bring Salvatore along with him but he was indisposed as Chuck's guard at the mont. In all likelihood he would be too busy to even take part in the fight. It was a sha but that's the reality of business.
The trip to War's territory was tense and quiet, after all Adam was taking a huge gamble. He was heading right into the territory of one of the Horsen of Chicago. War may be losing the fight with Pestilence, but he was still in command of a sizable army and had considerable fighting skills that Adam had seen first hand. If things went wrong they may not be coming back at all. However he hoped that mutual cooperation in the pursuit of a shared goal would give War enough incentive to agree to his plan instead of killing them all. If it ca to a fight, even with his powerhouse team, they might not win. There was no way around this, this was a gamble.
Adam slowed down as soon as he entered War's undisputed territory, in an attempt to show he was not coming with hostile intentions. Only so much he could do to that effect when he was driving around a heavily armored multi-ton IFV with enough firepower to destroy a skyscraper.
However eventually he did, after more searching than he expected, stumble upon two n who were very clearly war fighters. Inevitably they were intimidated as the APC slowly rolled up to them stopping just short but they held their ground even in spite of that. Good, so they did at least have backbone.
Adam was quick to pop out the hatch.
"Im not here for a fight." Adam said quickly as he ca out, arms raised.
"Oh yeah? Then what are you here for?" One of the war fighters said as his gun remained aid at Adam, though now in a non lethal area, unlike when he first popped out.
"I ca because I want to stop Pestilence from winning the battle of Chicago. I ca because I need to speak to your leader, War."
