Chapter 237: Chapter 211 I Also Want to Drink Succulent Grapes
Ji Sang looked up toward the source of the voice, a slightly unfamiliar face entered her view.
“Ms. Ji, it really is you, what a coincidence.”
The newcor was full of surprise, and the smile on her face was impossible to ignore.
Ji Sang’s eyebrows slightly furrowed.
“Who are you?”
“Ms. Ji, it’s , Cui Yi. I just called you the day before yesterday.”
Cui Yi made a phone-call gesture with her hand and took the opportunity to sit down opposite Ji Sang.
At that mont, Ji Sang’s brows instantly wrinkled.
No matter who she was, it was extrely impolite to sit down without being given permission.
Ji Sang was very averse to such behavior, so much so that she couldn’t even force a strained smile. She lowered her head and did not look at Cui Yi again, but instead called the waiter over and ordered a set al.
“Ms. Ji, you see, it’s such a coincidence that I ran into you today, let treat you.”
“No need.”
Ji Sang lifted her head and looked at Cui Yi, her eyes containing a hint of coldness.
“Ms. Cui, I only pick up the tab because I choose to, you don’t have to do this.”
Cui Yi choked up a bit, perhaps Ji Sang’s penetrating gaze took her by surprise.
At this ti, Cui Yi seed to realize that her actions were sowhat inappropriate.
“Ms. Ji, my friend is still over there, I’ll go back first, I really appreciate you, can I pay for this al?”
Ji Sang rigidly tugged at the corner of her mouth but said nothing.
After Cui Yi left, Ji Sang took a sip of tea and pondered.
Ji Sang ca here this ti mainly to taste test the flavors of this restaurant, so she ate very slowly, and she asked the waiter to bring only a quarter portion of each dish.
She tried almost every series.
From the ti before the al rush to when the restaurant was full, and then as diners slowly left.
Ji Sang had been taste testing the whole ti, changing the soup base twice, an action that aroused the curiosity of the staff, and even the owner ca over to serve her personally.
It was at this ti that Ji Sang inquired about the soup base.
“Sorry, we do not sell our soup base separately.”
Ji Sang understood, every restaurant has its way of doing business.
“Under what circumstances could it be possible?”
Ji Sang directly clarified her intentions and made her attitude clear.
The owner was a perceptive man.
Though Ji Sang’s outfit looked ordinary without any eye-catching luxury brand logos, the fabric was of high quality.
Moreover, sotis a person’s temperant can reveal their upbringing and education.
The owner hesitated for a mont, then leaned in to whisper,
“Our establishnt does offer delivery service, but…”
“What are the requirents?”
The owner smiled, bending over slightly,
“This service is exclusive to our black gold VIP clients.”
Ji Sang understood, took out her bag, riffled through it, only to find Fu Yisi’s card from before.
After hesitating for a mont, Ji Sang took out the card and handed it over.
“Will this work?”
The owner accepted the card with both hands, and his expression subtly changed at the sight of the card, bowing even more deeply.
“Of course.”
The owner smiled even more genuinely.
“Do you need to change the broth?”
“No need.”
Her previous taste testing had already filled her stomach; she felt she was nearly going to be sick if she ate more.
Besides, she had a rough idea of what Sister would like to eat.
When Ji Sang was ready to leave, there weren’t many people left in the restaurant, but with a casual glance, Ji Sang caught sight of Cui Yi, who had just been looking at her.
In the mont she looked over, Cui Yi turned her head away.
Ji Sang’s brows furrowed as she raised her hand to check the ti, nearly ten o’clock.
Five hours.
She was here to find dishes that matched Sister’s taste; how could Cui Yi and her friends eat for so long?
From the mont Ji Sang received the call from Cui Yi the day before yesterday, doubts had arisen, and now they were slowly expanding.
Ji Sang pursed her lips and left the shop.
And Cui Yi, who had just been chatting and laughing with friends, had his smiling lips fall, as he took out his phone and made a call.
…
At Jiangshui Police Station, Qiming rushed back to the office, panting heavily.
“Ca… Captain”
Captain Lei was looking through the case files, frowning, without lifting his head.
“Straighten out your tongue before you talk.”
Qiming grabbed the water from the desk and gulped down a big mouthful.
“I’ve found sothing off.”
Captain Lei paused from flipping through the files and looked up at Qiming.
“What do you an?”
Qiming opened his mouth wide to catch his breath and pulled out a small notebook.
“Based on the ti given by the convenience store granny, I checked the surveillance around Li Lei from three days before and after, and found that one day he actually went to a tea shop.”
“A tea shop?”
Captain Lei’s brows furrowed even more.
“What was he doing at a tea shop?”
Why would a guy who usually stays at ho suddenly go to a tea shop?
“That’s what I found strange as well.”
Qiming dragged a chair over to sit down.
“I asked the tea shop manager for a favor to check the surveillance from that day. Guess what I found?”
Captain Lei thought for a mont, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Don’t tell Cui Yi was also at that tea shop that day?”
“How did you know, Captain?!”
Qiming’s eyes widened, his face full of disbelief.
Captain Lei snorted.
“I can tell by your expression. Go on.”
Qiming closed his mouth and continued to look at the notes in the notebook.
“Li Lei entered the tea shop at 3:10 pm, and Cui Yi entered at 3:20 pm. After she ca in, Li Lei sat for three minutes and then left, while Cui Yi stayed to finish her milk tea before leaving.”
“Did the two have any interaction?”
Qiming shook his head.
“Apart from the glance Li Lei gave when Cui Yi ca in, he didn’t look at her the rest of the ti.”
“If Li Lei really went there because Cui Yi looks a lot like his ex-wife, he certainly wouldn’t have just glanced once.”
Qiming nodded along.
“That’s what I find strange too. Moreover, didn’t Li Lei say he only occasionally ran into Cui Yi? I checked their work commute routes, they hardly overlap, which ans, they would only et when Li Lei deviates from his usual route. So… could it be that it happened during this trip to the tea shop?”
Captain Lei pondered for a while then shook his head.
“It shouldn’t be. It’s the sa problem; he wouldn’t have just glanced once.”
“Then why did he go to the tea shop?”
Qiming scratched his head, really unable to comprehend.
Could Li Lei be soone who would go to a tea shop by himself just for an afternoon tea?
No matter how he thought about it, it didn’t seem like sothing Li Lei would do.
Qiming pouted, biting the end of his pen, attempting to discern sothing from the notes he had taken, but to no avail.
Throwing the notebook onto the table, he heaved a long sigh.
“I also want to drink so grape jelly?”
Captain Lei’s frown deepened.
“What did you say?”
Qiming pursed his lips.
“The tea, grape jelly is one of the flavors.”
Captain Lei shook his head, then tilted it.
“Did you just say ‘also’?”
