As soon as Ian stepped out of his office, he patted his cheeks to calm himself down. Even if he wanted to deny it, he was certain he had felt sothing when he had thought about Valerie. But he could not make out what it was.
Ian found the woman attractive. There was no doubt about that. Her independence, control over the situation and bravery impressed him greatly. However, it was her will to put her friends first before herself when in danger that had made him appreciate her completely. But it was only limited to that. There were no other feelings for her in his heart.
Ian took a deep breath and shook his head. "Ian, there is no space for love in your life. Get this embedded in your heart and mind." He clenched his fists and shook his head before he started walking. Although his shift was over, he decided to take a look around once before leaving.
anwhile, Ivy and Joshua blinked at each other in confusion before they turned to the now closed door.
"Did you notice what I noticed just now?" Ivy mumbled, her eyes wide and lips parted in shock.
"I think so. Did I just see Ian smile when we spoke about Deputy?" Joshua's voice rose an octave and Ivy moved away from him imdiately to shield her ears.
"Control your volu." She glared at him, annoyed by his excitent and child like attitude. "I do not want to go deaf at all. If you are going to shout, go out on the roads and shout as much as you want."
"Haha, very funny." Joshua made an unimpressed face and scoffed lightly. "Get back to the topic. We are talking about Ian and Deputy. Rember?" He knocked Ivy's forehead and the woman gnashed her teeth at him imdiately.
"Ian did change his expression swiftly. I thought I was dreaming when I saw his soft smile." Joshua did not allow Ivy to protest and imdiately brought up the topic they had been discussing, forcing Ivy to get back.
"I did too. It was strange to see Ian look so srized and lost. What's happening?" Ivy mused, raising her brows mischievously. "Is sothing cooking between Doctor and Deputy?"
"Doctor and Deputy? I like the sound of it." Joshua's eyes twinkled and he looked at Ivy as if waiting for the great event to take place. "I can even imagine the two getting married and they form a happy couple for sure." He expressed and Ivy scrunched up her face imdiately.
"Although I want the two to get together, let's not force this on them." She remarked and her smile slipped imdiately. "What if it's all our wishful thinking and there is nothing between them, no feelings at all?"
"I agree. I just hope they get together. Ian really needs soone in his life. Unlike Noah and I, who at least had a family, Ian did not have anyone. Theo was all he had, but he too was not present in Ian's life all the ti."
Joshua recalled the days when Ian would stay all alone in the house with no one to look after him. Although Ian had not said a word about his life in the past, Noah and Joshua knew that their friend had suffered a lot more than anyone else. It had not been easy for him to even open up to others in the beginning.
"But we cannot force such things either. If Ian and Valerie are made for each other, irrespective of anything in the world, they will get together. Otherwise, even if we push them towards each other, it will not work if they are not ant for each other." Ivy sighed and shook her head lightly.
"I just hope everything turns out well for Ian. He gets all the happiness in the world." Joshua muttered, wishing the best for his dear friend.
"He will, Joshua. He will, for sure. I believe it. He will get everything he deserves. Just wait and watch." Ivy stated with conviction and Joshua did not doubt it.
"What are you going to do now? Will you be going ho or..." Joshua was still worried for his friend. But he did not show it on his face and forced himself to smile for Ivy lest she should start worrying about him instead.
"I need to go ho. I have a lot to tell Dad and if possible, I'll try to find out what happened between him and Grandpa Carter." Ivy explained and Joshua pouted in sadness.
"Why do you have the expression of an abandoned puppy?" She folded her hands and narrowed her eyes.
"Because I feel abandoned." Joshua's reply was instant, as if he was waiting for her to question him.
Ivy gave him an unimpressed look and put on a poker face.
"Really." He stressed. "I thought you would co with . Maybe, we could go on a date or sothing. It's been quite a long ti since we went on a date." Joshua reasoned and stopped suddenly when a realization hit him.
"Wait a minute. Did we ever go on a date?" Joshua stiffened when he recalled that he had Ivy had never gone on an official date. Although they had had private monts, they had never gone out on a date. "How the hell did I miss this? How did I not take you out on a date?"
"You should ask yourself that. Why are you asking ?" Ivy retorted and looked at her nails.
"Okay...If I could not take you out on a date, couldn't you have done the honors?" Joshua too did not hold back and Ivy narrowed her eyes imdiately. "It's not like only guys can ask their girlfriends for a date. It can be vice versa too."
"Oh, really? Sir, if I rember correctly, I confessed to you. At least, you should have the courtesy to think about asking out on a date."
"Don't try to deviate from the topic, Ivy. In this aspect, both of us are at fault." Joshua stood up suddenly, forcing Ivy to follow suit.
"What are you doing?"
"Not just I, we both. We are going on a date, baby."
"You must be crazy. I am not going anywhere with you." Ivy rejected him right away. "The ti is not right. Let's wait until the situation calms down. We can go out so other ti."
"But..."
"Please." Ivy blinked her lashes and Joshua gave up when he saw her pretty face.
"Fine. But we will go out on a date once everything settles and you will not reject then."
"I promise I won't. Now, let's go ho."
