As Serena and Aiden made their grand entrance, Mabel Hawk finally breathed a sigh of relief. She had been almost worried about their sudden disappearance. But now, as she watched the couple gracefully navigate through the hordes of people eager to congratulate them, a frown slowly crept onto her face. Was sothing wrong? Their smiles seed perfect, but sothing about the tension between them didn’t sit right. She couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that sothing wasn’t as it appeared. She’d have to keep an eye on them...

"It was the biggest mistake of my life, trusting you, Aiden Hawk," Serena hissed under her breath, her eyes never leaving the crowd.

"I’ve already told you, Serena, you’re misunderstanding the entire situation." Aiden’s response ca just as quietly, his smile never faltering as he nodded at another guest who approached them. Already eting and greeting the people felt a waste of ti to him but the chaos that they had just returned from was also taking a toll on them.

To the outside world, no one watching the couple would have known that these two were not whispering sweet nothings to each other. Instead, they were having a full-blown argunt. Even Mabel Hawk, who could sense sothing was wrong relaxed after a while as she realized that the two were talking to each other continuously.

"You think I didn’t see you?" Serena whispered, her lips barely moving as she offered a warm smile to another guest. "The way you went after Owen. What did you think would happen, Aiden? That I wouldn’t ever find out? I trusted you and this is what you do?"

As they made their way through the crowd, shaking hands and accepting congratulations, Serena’s voice was low and sharp, barely audible under the surface pleasantries. She kept her gaze fixed ahead, her smile unwavering as Aiden leaned close to her ear and whispereed, "You are misunderstanding the situation, Serena."

"Misunderstanding?" she repeated, her voice thick with disbelief. "What kind of misunderstanding? Did my phone’s SIM card just fall out of my phone and magically jump into the one in your office? Or did I imagine you going to where Owen lives, only to watch while people beat the living cr*p out of him?"

Aiden’s jaw tightened, his smile still firmly in place as they passed by another group of well-wishers. "Those were gangsters, Serena. You didn’t think I could just jump in between them and save him, did you? He was trying to extort money from you."

Serena’s breath caught, her eyes narrowing as she finally turned her head slightly toward him. "They were gangsters you hired, Aiden. And you knew sothing like this was happening. It was why you took the Sim card from my phone. So that he wouldn’t be able to contact . Don’t act like you were helpless in the situation. And extortion? Really? He was asking for help because he though he could pay off the gangsters!"

"You are too trusting, Serena if you think that Owen was only asking for your help!"

"You are right. I am too trusting! I trusted the wrong person, didn’t I?"

"I was protecting you, you little fool. Owen isn’t who you think he is."

"No! You were doing what you needed to protect your interests! There is a difference."

"Serena, you don’t know Owen.. He is..."

Before Aiden could finish his sentence, the sound of a microphone crackling to life filled the air, and the emcee’s voice bood through the speakers, "Ladies and gentlen, if I could have your attention, please! We are about to kick off the evening with a special dance. So, may I invite the lovely couple of the hour, Aiden and Serena, to the floor?"

As the spot light shone on them once more, Aiden escorted Serena to the dance floor and coolly pulled her closer to him. As the soft strains of the music began, he tried again," Owen is..."

"Will you please stop? I don’t want to hear this, Aiden! I never knew that you could be a ruthless man. But of course, I should have known! After all, you married a woman who was almost dead just so you could et your goal. You even took her off life support, uncaring that she would breathe her last!"

"Serena! You are being unreasonable."

"And you were reasonable? You had soone spying on , didn’t you? That is why you knew about Owen! When you ntioned the GPS tracker in the weddign ring, I believed you, thinking it was for my own safety. But now I know! It was because you wanted to keep an eye on !"

Serena deliberately pressed her heel down on Aiden’s foot, a small, vicious smile curling at the edges of her lips as she heard him wince and curse under his breath," This is what you get for breaking my trust, Aiden Hawk."

Aiden winced and tightened his jaw as he felt his toe almost being crused under the weight of it and tried once again," Will you at least listen to ?"

As she tried to step on his foot again, he retaliated, pulling her closer, spreading his hand on her lower back.

Serena bristled,"Keep your hands off ," she hissed through gritted teeth. "I don’t want to hear another word from you. Nothing you say can justify what you’ve done. The only way I will listen to you is when you bring Owen in front of ! Safe and sound!"

"Do you really take for so kind of a villain?" Aiden questioned as his hands on her tightened, keeping her in his embrace even as she tried to escape.

Serena breathed in sharply as she looked at him," Aren’t you? Tell , Aiden? Are you really not the villain? Have you been completely truthful to ?"

Aiden tightened his jaw, then, unwilling to answer. Yes. He had not been truthful but that did not an he would simply have soone," Fine. I’ll bring that man to you and then reveal the truth."
