Serena was in shock. You’d think she’d be getting used to these surprises by now, but each new revelation left her just as stunned as the last. After seeing her work in the car last night, Aiden had handed her a large box filled with files, asking her to sort through them and make remarks. It was supposed to help her gauge what she knew and and how well. And now, she sat in his ho office, nervously watching like a school girl in the teacher’s office, as he went through the docunts with an unreadable expression.
She didn’t know how she’d been able to understand the business so well, but her brain had proviced her answers to everything on its own. It was almost as if her brain was functioning on muscle mory.
Finally, Aiden looked up from the papers and t her gaze. "Serena, you were right about most of these prediction and the flaws that you pointed out were also spot on. So of these business projects have been abandoned and so stalled because of the very problems you’ve outlined. It seems you really do have a sharp mind for business."
Serena felt happiness unlike ever before. Even though the information was not much, the fact that she had been able to discover sothing about herself was exhilerating.
Before she could think twice, she jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck in an enthusiastic hug. "I knew it! I’m a business prodigy!" she exclaid, her voice bubbling with excitent. "I could get a job anywhere if I needed to!"
Aiden stiffened as he suddenly found his face buried in soft flesh and tried to back away, only for Serena to lose her balance due to the chair’s movent and land on his lap.
Aiden instinctively wrapped his arms around Serena to steady her as his lips t the soft flesh of her cleavage... His lips seed to burn at the instinctive contact and Serena too, jumped off his lap, as she felt his touch on her lips. Red in the face, she pushed back her hair and looked away. Their eyes t for a mont before each looked away, her face red and the tips of his ears flushed.
Serena cleared her throat, awkwardly trying to think of sothing to say but feeling at a loss.. "Uh, I should probably—"
Just then, there was a knock on the door and Serena felt relief at having been saved the need to say sothing. "I’ll get it." Hurriedly, she walked to open the door, while still feeling Aiden’s gaze on her.
She took a deep breath and told her to calm down. He had definitely not kissed her there. It was just an accidental touch of the lips. Nothing else.
Letting out a breath, she was holding, she opened the door, only to find Aunt Vera standing there with her expression a mix of worry and urgency." Young mistress. Its good you are here too."
"Aunt Vera. Co on in. What is the matter?" Aiden asked as he ca to stand beside Serena," Master Aiden. The family is here. I asked them to leave but they are all insisting thar they will stay here in their rooms until Madam returns from the hospital. And now they are waiting for you for breakfast.
Aiden’s expression darkened the mont Aunt Vera ntioned the family’s arrival. His jaw clenched, and a quiet curse slipped from his lips as he ran a hand through his hair. "Of all the days... We’ll be there soon."
As aunt Vera left, Serena looked at him with a curious expression," It seems you don’t welco them."
Aiden shot her a look then," You t them. Would you welco them?"
Serena shrugged," Well, you’re right about that. They do seem like they might give indigestion."
Aiden smiled then. That was putting it mildly. His wonderful ’family’ was actually a den of vipers. There were prone to analysing every word, every move and twisting it to use against you. And now, with everything going on, the last thing he needed was them under the sa roof as him.
Serena clicked her fingers in front of his face and asked, "What are you thinking with that fierce frown? You almost look as if you’re planning to have them for breakfast instead of with them."
Suddenly, a smile ca onto his face, and Serena widened her eyes. Was he really planning to eat those people? What was with that smile? Sothing was up...
"You know, Serena, you really should repay for taking advantage of earlier." Aiden said, suddenly walking towards her.
Serena’s eyes widened, "What? Taking advantage? What are you talking about?"
"Oh, you know exactly what I an. You landed on my lap, and let’s not forget that my lips had an... unexpected eting with certain soft, uh, areas."
Serena’s face turned crimson and she quickly crossed her arms over her chest defensively, her eyes narrowing. "That was an accident and you know it! I didn’t take advantage of anything! If anything, I was the one who was the victim."
"How were you the victim? You received a kiss while I received nothing! So, I think I deserve sothing in return. It’s only fair compensation."
As he said this, Aiden walked closer to her and Serena’s eyes widened. "What do you think you are doing?"
Bun instead of answering, he simply placed a hand on the nape of her neck and pulled her closer so that her lips were smashed agains this chest. Serena’s eyes widened at the contact and her lips parted for a mont, really kissing him.
In the next minute, however, she opened her mouth and bit him to make him let go.
Aiden winced as Serena’s teeth sank into his chest, but instead of pulling away, he tightened his grip, his smirk growing wider.
Just as she was about to bite harder when, suddenly, he released her and stepped back. She stumbled slightly, catching her balance, and imdiately her gaze shot up to glare at him.
"You—!" Serena began, but Aiden was already moving, sidestepping as she raised her foot to kick him.
He dodged her easily, laughing as he walked out of reach and turned to look in the mirror to inspect the red mark she’d left and nodded, "Hmm, this will work perfectly."
